Nimue

What do you think of Nimue? (pr. with three syllables)

I think of the [name_f]Lady[/name_f] of the [name_u]Lake[/name_u] from [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u]. I think it’s very pretty!!

To be honest, I couldn’t figure out the pronunciation for a second. (Nem-u-ay? Nim-u-a? Nim-u-uh? Nim-oo-uh?) I feel like a kid with this name would get lots of mispronunciations at school, etc. However, I still feel like it is useable as long as you would be fine with having to correct mispronunciations. It’s unusual and very pretty, imo.

I love it. I’m not sure how you pronounce it. But I pronounce it like NIY-Muw-ey, like the Netflix show Cursed

I would pronouncne Nim U-E. The way I was taught at school was to pronounce all letters individually or they did not “form a word”

I love the musicality of it! It might be a name that requires explanation of its pronunciation and origin, though.

This is actually my cat’s name. While I absolutely love it, I can tell you from experience that pronunciation and spelling issues are going to be a problem, so just take that into consideration.

oh, I love Nimue so much! so stunning, magical, and whimsical. I love the nickname Nim, too!! I think of Nimue from all of the versions/adaptions of King Arthur’s stories, and my first thought is usually the version from Once Upon a Time, who is very cool!!

I’d only ever heard it pronounced nim-oo-way/nim-uh-way (or nim-way depending on accent/how fast you’re talking) until nameberry users started saying they pronounced it like nim-moo
