NN for Emmett?

I love the name [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], but not sure about possible nicknames. I feel like the obvious ones are [name_f]Em[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], which are way too feminine, imo. Are there any other nn that could work without being too much of a stretch?

maybe Mett? depending on the middle name you could use letters. E.J for example. With that said, I personally don’t think [name_f]EM[/name_f] is too feminine.

Thanks la16! I think the only reason I think [name_f]Em[/name_f] is too feminine is because I have a distant cousin [name_f]Emily[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Em[/name_f]. But I think I could get over it. I think Mett could work too.

I was going to suggest Mett. I don’t think theres much else you could use.

I love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. I personally would not use a nickname. You could use [name_m]Mitt[/name_m].

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I both love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], the only thing holding me back is the [name_f]Em[/name_f] thing. I often shorten names and I’m searching for an alternative also!
Hopefully we both find one, it’s a great name!

I don’t think [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] needs a nickname, but I do see your concern. Pressed, I would use M over [name_f]Em[/name_f]. This spelling makes it less reminiscent of [name_f]Emma[/name_f]/[name_f]Emily[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].

Mett is ok. I don’t like the connection to more ordinary [name_m]Matt[/name_m]/[name_m]Matthew[/name_m].

If you’re just looking for an informal nickname (ie not one that he goes by most of the time), E works too. We’ve ended up using O as a nickname for my son half the time.

emsky, I didn’t even think of using E. I actually really like it! Thanks!

It’s two syllables…
