NN for Sariah?

[name]Hi[/name] berries! We are looking for a nn for our daughter [name]Sariah[/name]. My husband, myself, and my children each have our own nn for her, but none of us agree on just one! This is what we have:
[name]Si[/name] (pn’d like the letter C) - hubby’s nn for her - I hate this nn.
Ri (pn’d like [name]Rye[/name]) - my nn for her - he hates this nn.
[name]Riah[/name] (pn’d like [name]Rye[/name]-uh) - my other children’s nn for her.

We are open to other nn’s, and it can incorporate her mn, [name]Raquel[/name].
Thanks in advance!

Out of the ideas that you already have, which seems to fit her best?

What about:
[name]Ari[/name]
[name]Aria[/name] - though this isn’t any shorter…
[name]Aya[/name]
[name]Essie[/name] - from the “S” in [name]Sariah[/name]
[name]Ria[/name]
[name]Sara[/name]/[name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Sarai[/name]
[name]Sari[/name]
[name]Siri[/name]

There’s also [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Sally[/name], traditional nicknames for [name]Sarah[/name]…

From [name]Raquel[/name], I can’t really come up with anything besides [name]Ella[/name], [name]Elle[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Kelly[/name] (maybe too dated?), or maybe [name]Ray[/name]/[name]Rae[/name].

You could make a combination of a nickname from the first name and one from the nickname. For example, [name]Arielle[/name] is [name]Ari[/name] from [name]Sariah[/name] and [name]Elle[/name] from [name]Raquel[/name] (again, [name]Arielle[/name] isn’t any shorter than [name]Sariah[/name]…).

Or, maybe you could use a double name nickname like [name]Riah[/name]-[name]Elle[/name] (sorry, not that good of an example…) or something?

Good luck!

Out of the ideas that you already have, which seems to fit her best? WELL, I ABSOLUTELY HATE C, OR [name]SI[/name], HOWEVER HE IS SPELLING IT. I REFUSE TO CALL HER THAT. I LIKE [name]RIAH[/name] OR RI THE MOST, BUT I’M NOT SURE THEY FIT HER. SHE HAS THESE PIERCING [name]BLUE[/name] EYES… (KIND OF LIKE THE [name]BABY[/name] TO THE LEFT), AND RIGHT NOW SHE HAS [name]STRAWBERRY[/name]-BLONDE HAIR (I’M HOPING IT STAYS THAT [name]WAY[/name]). SHE IS VERY SHY WITH STRANGERS, BUT ALWAYS FULL OF SMILES AT HOME.

What about:
[name]Ari[/name] - CUTE, BUT IT REMINDS ME OF THE POLAR [name]BEAR[/name] @ THE ZOO NEAR US.
[name]Aria[/name] - though this isn’t any shorter… IT IS MUCH BETTER THAN C
[name]Aya[/name] - I [name]DON[/name]'T REALLY LIKE THIS
[name]Essie[/name] - from the “S” in [name]Sariah[/name] IT’S OK… IT INCLUDES THE [name]LONG[/name] E SOUND FROM C THAT HUBBY LIKES
[name]Ria[/name] - ALREADY HAVE THIS… [name]RIAH[/name]
[name]Sara[/name]/[name]Sarah[/name] - WE [name]DON[/name]'T CARE VERY MUCH FOR THIS NAME
[name]Sarai[/name] - I LIKE THIS, BUT THERE’S NOT MUCH MORE EFFORT TO [name]ADD[/name] THE UH SOUND AT THE END
[name]Sari[/name] I SOMETIMES CALL HER THIS, BUT HUBBY DOESN’T LIKE IT EITHER.
[name]Siri[/name] I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS ONE, BUT [name]HAVEN[/name]'T CALLED HER THIS YET.

There’s also [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Sally[/name], traditional nicknames for [name]Sarah[/name]…
I [name]DON[/name]'T LIKE THESE AT ALL.
IF I USED HER MN, I’D LIKE IT TO INCORPORATE HER FN.

THAT’S FUNNY, [name]ARIELLE[/name] IS ONE NAME WE CONSIDERED FOR HER.
Or, maybe you could use a double name nickname like [name]Riah[/name]-[name]Elle[/name] (sorry, not that good of an example…) or something?
I [name]DON[/name]'T LIKE [name]RIAH[/name]-[name]ELL[/name], BUT IT GAVE ME AN IDEA FOR RI-[name]ELLE[/name]. I’M SURE MY HUSBAND WON’T LIKE THIS EITHER, BUT I CAN GIVE IT A TRY.

MY FAVORITES FROM YOUR LIST ARE: [name]ARIA[/name], [name]ARIELLE[/name], [name]SARI[/name], AND [name]SIRI[/name].
THANK YOU!

Hey, [name]Raquel[/name]!

I’m not sure I can do better than the previous poster, since that was a huge list of nicknames. If she were mine, I’d call her [name]Sari[/name], since I told you from the start. I would say it SAIR-ee, not sari as in the clothing item, just to clarify…

My question is, is it a problem for you to all have different nicknames for [name]Sariah[/name]? Everyone in my family calls me something different, too.

Good luck!

I happen to really like Ri (rye) and I think it makes the most sense.

But how about Siah (like Saya, rhymes with [name]Maya[/name])

I really like [name]Siri[/name]!

I know girls named [name]Sari[/name] and [name]Siri[/name] (their actual given names) and both are really cute names!

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Lauren[/name]! I do remember you liking [name]Sari[/name] the most. I guess I really want a good nn for her so DH will stop calling her C - or [name]Si[/name]! I don’t like the nn for a girl, it reminds me too much of the movie “A [name]Bronx[/name] Tale”.

I like Ri the most, but he doesn’t care for it. JLM, I like Siah - that’s a clever idea! I hope he likes it.

Thanks for the suggestions!

[name]Raquel[/name],

I’m not a fan of [name]Si[/name], either. I mean, like “C,” like Spanish “yes”? I don’t even get how that came from [name]Sariah[/name]! Ha. What about [name]Si[/name] pronounced “sigh”? I know someone who goes by [name]Si[/name] and her name is [name]Saidah[/name] (“sigh-EE-duh”) - you could also spell it [name]Sai[/name], I think…

I do think [name]Riah[/name] is nice, and RiRi (“rye-rye”) could be cute for [name]Sariah[/name] as a youngster, but I think something a bit more stable and adult would work better over time.

Good luck!

[name]Imo[/name] the most obvious is [name]Sari[/name] and it is v pretty too.

I really don’t know where he got that from - it doesn’t make any sense. Maybe we’ll just call her by [name]Sariah[/name]??? Does she need to have a nn? The only people who call me by my nn anymore is my family. I made everyone else stop calling me by my nn - [name]Rocky[/name]. I loved it in grade school and high school, but it is too “boy” for me now. When my mom’s cousin had a grandson named [name]Rocco[/name], who they call [name]Rocky[/name], I decided it was time to go by [name]Raquel[/name]!

I still like Ri, [name]Riah[/name], and [name]Sari[/name], though! Maybe we’ll wait until she gets a bit older to see her personality. If she is a tomboy, Ri would be perfect, if she’s a little princess, [name]Sari[/name] would be perfect, and if she’s a little bit of both, [name]Riah[/name] might be perfect.

Nope, [name]Sariah[/name] doesn’t need a nickname if you don’t want one for her! Your [name]Jacob[/name] doesn’t go by [name]Jake[/name], now does he? Does [name]Alanna[/name] have a nickname? If not, then maybe you are a no-nickname family.

I agree that Ri and [name]Sari[/name] are the best bets - wait a little longer and just see what comes naturally to you!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Jacob[/name] sometimes gets called [name]Jake[/name], but not by me - and he prefers [name]Jacob[/name] over [name]Jake[/name]. On occasion we say [name]Lanna[/name] instead of [name]Alanna[/name], but over all it’s [name]Alanna[/name]. [name]Patrick[/name] and I don’t use our nn’s anymore, but sometimes it just feels like a mouthful to say [name]Sariah[/name]. Maybe it’s just me - I’ve always had a hard time with R’s. You’re right, we’ll probably just wait and see what fits her personality.

What about [name]Sisi[/name]. Like CC

To be honest, when you first mentioned the fn and the mn I thought of Roxsie. Though you’ve expressed a distaste in your former nn of [name]Rocky[/name], so maybe not, but then again it sort of gives a salute to you with the nn similarities and to your hubby with the “si” sound at the end…But if I were to encounter your little girl on a peer to peer level I’d prolly call her Rox or [name]Ria[/name]( ([name]Ree[/name]-ah). It just seems to come to mind more quickly than any of the others, but I’m infamous for assigning my own nn’s to my fellow peers that are not their traditional nn’s lol.
