Nn Zelie for Hazel?

hello! My husband and I recently named our little girl [name]Hazel[/name]. He likes to use the nn [name]Zelie[/name]. I find it cute but wonder if it’s a bit of a stretch? I know there are no rules for nicknames but input is appreciated!

While I don’t know that [name]Hazel[/name] necessarily warrants a nickname, I think [name]Zelie[/name] works if it’s pronounced “[name]Zell[/name]-ee” instead of “Zeel-ie”. I wouldn’t call it a big stretch.

[name]Zelie[/name] is an adorable nickname! [name]Hazel[/name] for the CV and [name]Zelie[/name] for the birthday cards - love it! It’s the final syllable of [name]Hazel[/name] with the most obvious nickname format of an “ee” sound; it’s a bit like [name]Lottie[/name] for [name]Charlotte[/name]. Not a stretch at all.

I agree, [name]Hazel[/name] nn [name]Zelie[/name] is like [name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Betty[/name]. It can completely work!

I think it works and makes sense and Im one of those people that thinks most of the nn’s I see on nameberry are too farfetched.

[name]Hazel[/name] nn [name]Zelie[/name] (like it rhymes with [name]Kelly[/name], right?) makes perfect sense! So cute.

I [name]LOVE[/name] it!!!

Adorable. It fits [name]Hazel[/name] perfectly, I don’t think it’s far fetched at all.

I love that nickname for [name]Hazel[/name]. It’s awesome.

I would spell it with 2 Ls to not confuse pronunciation. I think it’s a cute nickname!

I love it too. In fact, it makes me like [name]Hazel[/name] even more than I already did!

Haha same here!
