I love [name_m]Balthasar[/name_m]/[name_m]Balthazar[/name_m]! I’ve always struggled with a nn for it. Maybe [name_u]Ari[/name_u]? [name_m]Even[/name_m] that’s a huge stretch. There’s [name_m]Al[/name_m] (or even [name_u]Allie[/name_u], which I have a major crush on. I think [name_u]Allie[/name_u] could be adorable for a boy), but [name_m]Al[/name_m] still feels really tired for me. I’ve seriously considered it, as it’s a family name for me, not to mention keeping with the semi-[name_u]Christmas[/name_u] theme going on in my family already (a few of us have [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] names, and [name_m]Balthasar[/name_m] sort of keeps with that, with being the name of a wise man/[name_f]Magi[/name_f]), but I feel like it needs a nn, and I have no clue what I’d use. Probably [name_u]Allie[/name_u] or [name_u]Ari[/name_u] at this point, but they run the risk of sounding really feminine.
I have always liked [name_m]Baz[/name_m] for a nick name too.
Zar/Zari is my initial thought and like right now - I have always considered or thought of Baal as a nn as well. Good enough anyway lol.
[name_m]Baz[/name_m] is my favorite nn for [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m].
I also love [name_u]Allie[/name_u] on a boy, as pp said!
My instinct if I met a [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] would be to call him [name_m]Baz[/name_m], I’m sure a lot of people would feel the same so it’s worth considering if you’re comfortable with other people calling him [name_m]Baz[/name_m] regardless of what nickname you choose!
[name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] nn [name_m]Baz[/name_m] is one my SO and I would love to use (I find [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] a little more usable though, and we still get to use [name_m]Baz[/name_m] as a nickname!)

I agree with pp, I would call him [name_m]Baz[/name_m]! It’s going to be a lot easier for other kids than his full name, and it’ll sound cool when he’s older.

[name_m]Thor[/name_m] and [name_u]Bar[/name_u] get my top votes (with [name_m]Thor[/name_m] leading substantially). [name_m]Bart[/name_m] doesn’t usually stem from [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m], but I like it a bit, too, if you wanted to branch out even further.
I like [name_m]Baz[/name_m] for both [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] if feeling bold and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] if playing it safe.
