From the poll, my favorite is [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], but i also like the idea of [name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] and [name_f]Emme[/name_f].

For what it’s worth, I really like [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] and didn’t even think of the car. I actually think of the character from The [name_m]Count[/name_m] of [name_m]Monte[/name_m] Cristo. =]

I think [name_f]Mercie[/name_f] is a cute nn for [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], but if you’re not feeling it, then it’s not the one. Have you thought of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] (the poll isn’t there so I don’t know what you’ve considered)? The sound is right in the middle of [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], so I think it’s an intuitive nickname. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not sure about the spelling since it’s obviously not spelled Mersadies. lol

I really like Mercedes, though I have to say I wasn’t that keen on it until I learnt the brand was actually named after that guy’s daughter. My favourite nicknames for it are Mercy, Merry, and May, but Sadie, Dee/Deedee, and Cece/Cici are also options. Aydie, too.

EDIT: Just seen the poll and voted for Sadie. [Merrie and Mercie are a little different to Merry and Mercy, to my ind at least!] Like @chelsanne22, I associate the name with Alexandre Dumas’ character.

EDIT #2: I also thought of Mere, whch is pretty.

Exactly! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though “[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]” is technically in there, it kind of annoys me as its not spent that way…

Totally get that. Honestly, if it were me, I’d go with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] anyway because I really love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] enough that I could get over it. haha It goes so well with the other nicknames you favor, as well. And really, most of the time people are going to hear her full name and nickname, not see them written down, so it probably isn’t as much of an issue as you think. Sound-wise, [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is perfect and makes total sense.

I used to watch a Spanish soap opera in high school where the main character was Mercedes, nicknamed Merche (pr. MEHR-cheh). I love that nickname the best, but Mercy is another one of my favourites.

If I had a [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], I’d probably call her ‘[name_m]Merc[/name_m]’, ‘[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]’ and all of the above.
