We’ve been TTC for an appreciatedly short time, but during that period we’d contemplated the name Noir for a baby girl.
What do you think? Too out-there or stripper-esque?

[name]IMO[/name], it sounds a bit stripper-esque. BUT it reminds me of the Arabiac name [name]Noor[/name]/[name]Nur[/name] (which means light).
Maybe as a middle name? Something like [name]Stella[/name] Noir could be pretty.
I agree - mn only. And I’d probably use Noire to make it feminine.
Yeah I would be open to it as a MN but not loving it as a first name
I think [name]Noor[/name] (longtime favorite!) is a better choice. I can’t imagine Noir being pronounced correctly unless you live in a francophone area
As a French speaker, it’s just a word to me. As an English speaker, I don’t think it makes a good name. Also, “noire” (with the e) is the feminine form of the adjective.
Oh, I have always loved [name]Noor[/name]. Noir just seems like a word to me as well, even though I’m not completely fluent in French. I would only name your child this if you would be just as happy with a child named [name]Black[/name]. Seems weird to me, but some people are into it. Also if you’re using it for a girl, at least put the e on the end.
I like the suggestion of [name]Noor[/name] but I’d use Noir(e) only as a potential middle name.
I like it I have it on my list but for a boy.
My first thought other than the colour, is Film Noir. I think it could work in the middle, but not as a first name.
