So the strangest thing happened to me recently. I was walking into the library, and I saw some little kids with their mom running around and obviously enjoying themselves. I started thinking about my own future kids (as I do) and I suddenly pictured myself calling out the name [name_f]Nola[/name_f] to a daughter. It surprised me because this name has never been on my list, and I’ve only heard this name in passing once before!
So what do you guys think of [name_f]Nola[/name_f]? Does it sound like someone just chopped off [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]? Does it match the others on my list? (I do realize it’s basically a smush of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f].) Are there any middle names you’d recommend from my list or otherwise? I’m just so intrigued by this name right now!
I like [name_f]Nola[/name_f] but I prefer it as a nickname for [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], both of which fit in with the rest of your list just fine.
If you did go with [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] as a full name, I think [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f] both sound good. If [name_f]Nola[/name_f] is a stand alone first, then I would suggest [name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Janette[/name_f].
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] is the nickname I would use for [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], which is high on my list, but I think it works as a stand-alone name as well. I think either [name_f]Nola[/name_f] or [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] would fit in perfectly with your other names, too. Some ideas:
While [name_f]Nola[/name_f] is a charming nickname, I definitely think it works as a standalone name. In the age of [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], I think there’s definitely a spot for [name_f]Nola[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f].
Oh I love [name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]! And [name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] is cute too. It gives me such a sweet Southern vibe.
I’m not really a fan of [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], so I’d probably just prefer [name_f]Nola[/name_f] as the full name.
I love this name. I don’t think it has to be a nickname - at all. I knew a grown woman in her 60s who had this name and she wore it well. It was distinctive but very friendly.
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] Darling is the name of the main character of the [name_m]Spike[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] film/show “She’s Gotta Have It,” and it sounded good on the character in a number of circumstances.
I love [name_f]Nola[/name_f]!! A lot. I also love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]. I personally would probably use [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] because I prefer long names with lots of nickname options. But I think [name_f]Nola[/name_f] can totally stand on it’s own too.
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]?
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]?
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]?
My oldest daughter’s close friend is [name_f]Nola[/name_f] - she is adorable, sweet and very smart. Her mom’s family is from [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans and her father passed from brain cancer before meeting his first granddaughter - hence the connection. Her name is a stand alone, middle is [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and we often call her [name_f]Nolie[/name_f]. I love the name, and considered [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] for our daughter, but using [name_f]Nola[/name_f] as a nn would be too close. I’m envious that you can!!!
I love [name_f]Nola[/name_f], both as a nickname and as a stand alone. It’s beautiful, sweet and charming. It has a Southern vibe to it, and I personally love names with a Southern feel. I think it fits right into your list, and second the suggestion of [name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f].
