I’m looking to change my last name and was hoping I can get some ideas on this forum. It is currently Meng, but I’d like to have something a bit more ethnic-neutral.
Few things:
I’m Chinese-Canadian, so ideally it wouldn’t be [name_m]Wilson[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], etc. (I don’t want to trigger an aneurysm to those who try to match my name with my ethnicity). [name_f]Simplicity[/name_f] is preferred – 1-2 syllables… nature nouns tends to work well but I’m out of ideas.
Few I like, but with minor reservations:
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Hill[/name_m] // slightly dull sounding
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_f]May[/name_f] // bit effeminate?
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Parc[/name_m] // alternate spelling of [name_m]Park[/name_m], which is an Korean last name… not sure if this will be an issue.
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Pine[/name_m] // bordering aneurysm
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Wild[/name_m] // okay, not exactly my personality
Any feedback on the above names / new ideas would be helpful (made up words are welcome).
I know you didn’t ask for opinions on this, but I think [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] Meng sounds amazing. I vote for keeping the name tied to your heritage.
Surnames can be pretty much absolutely anything but I agree with the others, Meng is fine. As for other ideas…
Real words [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]Vale[/name_u] (as mentioned above) [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]Marsh[/name_u] (not glamorous I confess) [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] or Reeds (also already mentioned)
Not so real words [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] Mengvale? [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] Avun Daniel Yane
