As a name-obsessed human (like many of you) I have started thinking about everyday words that aren’t names which would make nice names (not including the meaning, just the sound - although bonus points if the definition is pleasant too). Why not add what trends it’s similar to, or why you like it?
I got the idea from the fact that I’ve heard people say the STI Chlamydia (!!) sounds like a pretty girl’s name. It sounds similar to [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
What ideas have you got?
(I know this is a bit weird but makes you think about how names come into being and how much the “sound” of a name plays into it)
I’ve heard the Chlamydia thing, and want to add a similar one where someone wanted to use Vagina but settled for Nagina in the end. No idea if it’s true, though.
[name_m]Man[/name_m] latin words sound like names: [name_f]Via[/name_f], Bonus, Canine, [name_f]Candela[/name_f]…
I’ve always thought that Lettuce sounded adorable, then I discovered that [name_f]Lettice[/name_f] exists after finding out about [name_f]Lettice[/name_f] Knollys. It’s probably still a GP though!
Alumni (I love the -ni ending)
Facility (similar to [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] but with that lovely "cil sound)
Lazy (-zy is a nice combination)
Maybe (a long version of popular [name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f] and similar to [name_f]Mabel[/name_f])
Smiley (lovely meaning, similar to popular -ly ending names such as [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f] etc.)
Sociology (similar beginning to ever-popular [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], with that unusual -gy ending)
i came across a [name_m]Swede[/name_m] [name_u]Ocean[/name_u] which i absolutely adore! i don’t know if it’s the pairing of [name_u]Ocean[/name_u] that tips me over but the more i say it the more i love it!!
