[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there!
Circling back to some names we originally liked but maybe were worried about popularity so they got pushed down. Not expecting yet… some hypothetical Qs here
In our state in the US, [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is in the top 20, [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is top 30. This is a tad more popular than we shoot for but our girls list is super small based on what we can agree on.
We like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] for potential girl 1.
Questions
What middles for [name_f]Nora[/name_f] would you suggest?
Is [name_f]Nora[/name_f] usually a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]?
Are they too similar that it may feel like a top 10 name popularity wise with the Eleanors and Noras?
What other names would you suggest?

Both [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are gorgeous names! Regarding the question whether [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is usually a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], from what I’ve read on the forums it can be, but not necessarily automatically. Where I come from [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a name used on its own, and of something is called [name_f]Eleonora[/name_f] they are usually called [name_f]Ela[/name_f]. I also don’t think this name feels like a top 10 name, I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is very distinguished, and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] also has literary connections that make her seem more classic than modern.
Based on [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], I would suggest:
I’ve never met an [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] who’s gone by [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. I would recognise it as a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and wouldn’t be confused by it, however, as I say, the Eleanors I know/have known have gone by the full name, Ellie/y or [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
I think it depends on how many Eleanors you know who are going by [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but in general, no, [name_f]Nora[/name_f] feels like a different name and will feel more like a ‘top 30’ one, if that makes any sense. Still popular, but not as popular.
i love both eleanor and nora! i only know one nora, my cousin! she’s super sweet and the name suits her perfectly. i think it’s an adorable name, and names should be chosen based on your love for a name, not their popularity!
my cousin is n0ra ma3ve and i think that’s super sweet!
i’ve met an eleanor and she goes by ally, but to me nora and eleanor are completely different names! eleanora maybe she would be nora but eleanor feels completely different!
they don’t feel like top 10 names to me! seeing as i only know one eleanor and only one nora.
I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]! Didnt think of that!
I appreciate your point about [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. They sound so much more distinct to me now after all your views on that. I was so stuck on them being so similar and they aren’t…
I have always liked [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] I would probably choose a longer middle name. Other suggestions
I don’t even love initial names but that got me thinking that NJ nickname could be fun… although written it just looks like [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] lol.
