Norah vs Nora

I am a longtime fan of the name [name_f]Norah[/name_f], it is our top contender for a future girl if we have one.

Being British I have always known the name as [name_f]Norah[/name_f] (a la [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]), but here on the boards it seems like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is the more traditional spelling and definitely the more common US spelling.

Which do you prefer? I’m expecting a high proportion of [name_f]Nora[/name_f]'s from US berries so also, do you mind the [name_f]Norah[/name_f] spelling as an alternative? The H just feels more complete to me, but maybe it’s just what I’m used to seeing.

I pronounce it exactly the same way.

I like both to be honest and if you think [name_f]Norah[/name_f] looks more complete, go for that

Both are good. [name_f]Norah[/name_f] is a fine spelling. [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] would be a cute combo.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] is one of the few names I prefer with an “H” at the end.

I love both, honestly! This is one of the very, very few names where I think both spellings are acceptable.

I think my vote would go for [name_f]Norah[/name_f], though. I think the H makes it look more complete and even fun, if that makes sense.

For reference, I am a US berry. I know a couple of girls by the name of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and they spell it that way.

I love the spelling of [name_f]Norah[/name_f]. I’m from the U.S.

I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is way prettier than [name_f]Norah[/name_f], but that’s maybe because where I come from we don’t really have the H ending in names like [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_f]Lea[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] etc

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is one of my favourite potential combos.

As a full name, I actually much prefer [name_f]Norah[/name_f]. It seems more complete to me, and I really like the look of the H.

As a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], we felt that only [name_f]Nora[/name_f] makes sense. We’re in the US.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is wonderful!

Either way is fine, but for my own taste I agree that [name_f]Norah[/name_f] feels more complete. I’m from the US. Beautiful choice!

I’m a UK berry and would have gone for [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. Whichever works best for you is the better option, though, either way people should get the pronunciation right.

I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] over [name_f]Norah[/name_f] but then again I prefer [name_f]Sara[/name_f] over [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] and [name_f]Hanna[/name_f] over [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]. The silent h at the end just seems so unnecessary.

However, [name_f]Norah[/name_f] is fine and I would’t think it is a problem if that is what you prefer.

I like both and think both work as a first name. Use what you like,

My niece is [name_f]Nora[/name_f], so I am partial to that spelling, but I don’t think there is anything wrong with [name_f]Norah[/name_f].

I like both, actually! Both look complete to me but I would instinctively spell it [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. I’m from the UK and I’m not sure who [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] is on our list and I’m a US berry
