TLDR: Looking for a word/noun name with historical use that is not a flower or a virtue
[name_f][/name_f]
So I’m not sure the name is out there, but I know nameberry loves some complicated criteria…[name_f][/name_f] I love the name [name_f]Holiday[/name_f], for a boy or a girl, but cannot use it bc of a family member with the same name. So I’m trying to find a name I love just as much. I love [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] because, while being a word name, it doesn’t feel new or modern (Skye, [name_m]Sterling[/name_m], etc). It also clearly appears as a noun used as a name [name_f][/name_f]- words like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_m]Chance[/name_m] have established a lot of cred as names, they aren’t really read as the original noun, if that makes sense? I don’t think I’m looking for a flower or virtue name either. Any ideas? [name_m]Or[/name_m] clarifying questions? Ha
I like [name_f]Holland[/name_f] too but almost certainly too close. [name_f][/name_f]Maybe not noun names but the last names [name_f]Ellery[/name_f] & [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] have that fun and dapper feel of [name_f]Holiday[/name_f].
You’re right about [name_m]Sterling[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- poor example on my part:) i had ‘Sterling for a girl’ in mind [name_f][/name_f]- but on a boy i agree its established
[name_f]Fawn[/name_f], spring, shepherd [name_f][/name_f]- definitely the vibe I’m going for! Idk what exactly it is, i think i just love how you have to take a moment to be like “oh that’s a person’s name!”

[name_f]Haven[/name_f] comes to mind [name_f][/name_f]- although maybe it feels a bit too modern? I was also wondering if names that feel like they could be nouns but aren’t (in [name_f]English[/name_f], in any case!) would suit your tastes. I’m thinking of the likes of [name_m]Havelock[/name_m] and [name_f]Vesper[/name_f].
[name_m]Ocean[/name_m] (used by explorer [name_f]Violet[/name_f] Cressy-Marcks back in the 1930s) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Forest[/name_m] (same as above) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Royal[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Gardener[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Crocket[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Jewel[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Author[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Golden[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Early[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Octave[/name_m]

Trying not to repeat ideas, how about… [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Berry[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Marlin[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Robin[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Earl[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]August[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Dove[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Dolly[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ransom[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Valley[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Carol[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Newt[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Lance[/name_m] (this name is a lot older than it seems!) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ace[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Ruby[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Kitty[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Arizona[/name_f] (does a state name count?) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Doe[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Herb[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Junior[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Satchel[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Scout[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Velvet[/name_f]
There have been so many great suggestions, the only one I have to toss in is [name_m]Garnet[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- it’s the [name_m]January[/name_m] birthstone, so not sure if it’s too much of a noun for you. it has been used in the past though not sure how much. it doesn’t sound new to me either, and I think it works for both genders!
