Nova for a boy?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is wearable for a boy?

Definitely not, sorry.

Possibly. I would say it depends on what you pair it with.

I’m not familiar with the name [name_f]Nova[/name_f], except for hearing it recently (on a woman), but I wouldn’t bat at an at a little by named [name_f]Nova[/name_f]. I think it’s fine.

[name_f]Nova[/name_f] - [name_f]Imo[/name_f], is very soft, could be either, but feels feminine
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]- common boys name, ok
[name_m]Novak[/name_m] - a surname, yet handsome and useable
Novar - [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars name, similar astronomy name. A cool alternative that isn’t too awkward or out there

I think it may seem a little off at first simply because it’s becoming very popular with little girls, but it feels along the lines of soft boy names like [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. It might take a little getting used to at first but it’s not awful.

Hmmmm… It would be hard to pull off. But not impossible, I think.

I agree that it is usable as it is phonetically close to [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. I also don’t put too much stock in “boy” and “girl” names, especially for less traditional names, [name_f]Nova[/name_f] as a given name is modern, so up for grabs to whoever is moved by it I think.

absolutely. I actually prefer it for a boy. One of my patients, who is 6, is named [name_f]Nova[/name_f] and he is so cute. He always goes, “Super [name_f]Nova[/name_f] to the rescue!”. It’s actually one of my fave names

I think [name_f]Nova[/name_f] would be great on a boy! It’s got a space, science, and cool-guy vibe. It is a unique name that is easy to say and spell. I don’t think the A ending should scare you off.

Totes agree with you!

It sounds girly to me

I think it could work!

I’d never considered it before but, hey, why not? I actually think it’d be pretty cool on a boy. I like that boys’ names are branching out from the two-syllable-ends-in-n set of the 90’s.

I would love and prefer it on a boy. That said, people tend to expect names ending on -a to automatically be girl names, and it usually take a few trailblazers to get them to accept the sound on boys. When I was a teenager eg, people around me though [name_u]Luca[/name_u] was totally a girl name- 15yrs (and some celebroty babies?) later, it’s celebrated for boys. [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] are other examples. If you decide to go for [name_f]Nova[/name_f] on a boy, prepare to be a trailblazer- I’d cheer for you!

Totally!! [name_f]Nova[/name_f] is a nature word which I think makes it the ultimate unisex name. (With the exception of flower names which are innately feminine)My only issue with [name_f]Nova[/name_f] as a name in general is that it means “no go” in Spanish which might have teasing potential if you live somewhere where Spanish is a major language or cultural group.

I think it could work.
I’ve met a few little girls named [name_f]Nova[/name_f], but I don’t immediately think “girl” when I hear the name. I think of super novas and a quote from [name_f]Treasure[/name_f] Planet (“The star Pelusa! It’s gone supernova!”). I think a little boy would be thrilled to have that kind of association.

I seem to be in the minority but I don’t think it would work at all. It’s a very soft name and not one I can see on a boy. Sorry

I actually don’t like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] at all for a girl, but I think it sounds cool for a boy! Maybe it’s because I associate it with the car ([name_m]Chevy[/name_m] [name_f]Nova[/name_f]). Cool car, cool boys name:)

Yes I do. My first thought is that if [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] work, then so should [name_f]Nova[/name_f]. And also, it’s a WORD. Word name scan be either masculine for feminine.

Most people think that it is only a girl name, though. So popular opinion would disagree with me. But, I also like [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_f]Bayleigh[/name_f], [name_u]Haley[/name_u], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_f]Star[/name_f] for boys, so there is that.
