Now we know it's a boy... but nothing sounds quite right!

So I am 13.5 weeks pregnant with my first and just got back the results of the genetic testing - he’s definitely a boy! We were 100% sold on our girls name, [name]Anthea[/name] [name]Russell[/name], but were never really on solid ground with a boys’ name. I know I posted on here maybe 3 months ago about my search for a name, but it an ever evolving struggle, and I would love your feedback! Our last name sounds like “[name]Talon[/name]”

For the past week or so I have been really sold on Zeller (nicknames [name]Zel[/name], [name]Ziggy[/name], and if he has the middle name “[name]Keene[/name]” then [name]Zeke[/name] as well) It is my paternal grandmother’s maiden name. For middles, I have been thinking:

Zeller [name]Keene[/name] (to honor my [name]MIL[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name] and my mother’s middle, [name]Eileen[/name])
but I am worried that Zeller [name]Keene[/name] sounds like a biology term or something (cytokine etc.)

Zeller Defiance (I like the sound and the meaning, but am aware that for some people, Defiance is too negative)

Zeller [name]Galloway[/name] (just like the sound)

Zeller [name]Lorenzo[/name] (to honor my mother [name]Laura[/name])

Other first names I was considering:
I was really into [name]Hartley[/name] for a first name, but it seems like it is poised to get claimed by the girls…
I like [name]Berkeley[/name], but again it sounds to girly and too hippie
I love [name]Baxter[/name], but again, with the “x” it seems like it is poised to get mega popular, as I have heard is happening in the UK
I also like [name]Ambrose[/name], but feel like it doesn’t really roll off the tongue and I don’t like “Bro” or “[name]Rosie[/name]”
I like [name]Clyde[/name], but like names to have nickname possibilities, which I don’t see for [name]Clyde[/name].
I like [name]Reed[/name] and [name]Lee[/name] but they are both a bit plain for my taste…

Any suggestions for new names I haven’t even thought of of feedback on the names I have in new and wonderful combinations, would be amazing. I want this little guy to have a name that just feels right!

Your style is very different from mine. Zeller is ok, but reminds me of the Dr Seuss book A wocket in my pocket. There is a Zellar in the Cellar. I think I would use [name]Zeke[/name] instead. I also like [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Reed[/name], and [name]Lee[/name].

I don’t know why but I wanted to run the name [name]Elijah[/name] by you for some strange reason it seems like it may be a name you might like.

Thanks for the input! I do really love [name]Elijah[/name], but have already named my dog [name]Eli[/name], so we can’t have two little [name]Eli[/name]'s running around. I have never heard of that Seuss reference before!

I think Zellar is cool. Most people on here won’t like it because it’s not a traditional name. I really think Zellar [name]Jericho[/name] is cool! Zellar [name]Julius[/name] is cool too!

I’ll second Zeller [name]Jericho[/name]. [name]Jericho[/name] is fantastic. Zeller isn’t a name I would use, but it sounds fine to me. I think he’d fit in with all the other surname names. I’m not familiar with the Dr. Seuss reference, and it didn’t come up with a quick google search, so it might not be that well known?

[name]Hartley[/name] is another I wouldn’t use, but I can see the appeal. I do really like the nickname [name]Hart[/name].

I also like Zeller [name]Keene[/name] as it honors lots of family, and that seems to be important to you.

I’m afraid I don’t like Zeller very much either. However, I do love [name]Jericho[/name]. I think [name]Jericho[/name] [name]Hayes[/name], [name]Jericho[/name] [name]Rece[/name], or [name]Jericho[/name] [name]Gramercy[/name] are all lovely. I also really like [name]Reed[/name] [name]Walsh[/name] or [name]Reed[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] together with your last name. Good luck and congratulations!
