I realized I really love, love the name [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but my husband vetoed it when we were discussing names for our now newborn, [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
But I feel [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] would be the perfect brother name to [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] if we ever have another boy (obviously I dont know whether or not we will or if I even want another baby so this is a pretty irrelevant problem).
I will have to keep trying to convince him I guess because the more I think about it, the more I love it.
Same situation with [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] [name_m]Dax[/name_m] and [name_m]Tavian[/name_m] [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. These are my other top boy names but I doubt my husband will go for them. He vetoed names without much input on what he actually likes so its hard for me to say what names he likes. He really liked [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
We almost named our baby [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] (and my husband was okay with [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] but he didn’t love love it) but now its weird - I dont think I like it anymore. Now that I have a baby I just can’t picture [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] for a baby.
Boy names are hard. I think I overthink them because there are so few I like compared to girl names. I also tend to change my mind a ton on boy names whereas I’m pretty set on my girl list.

[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is quite a cool name. Dunno if I personally love the inevitable [name_u]Sully[/name_u] nn but I’m sure a lot of people love it. I think it goes really well with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. I think I’m way too white (lol) to pull off [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] [name_m]Dax[/name_m] or [name_m]Tavian[/name_m] [name_m]Russell[/name_m] but they are also really handsome names!

Honestly, just let them go. Your husband doesn’t need a reason for not liking a name, as do you. I’ve looked at your UC & I’m guessing that you would never name your child [name_f]Cait[/name_f]. Let’s say your husband loves this name for your next baby girl, & you immediately veto it. Why? [name_m]Just[/name_m] because it’s not your style. How would you feel if he tried to pressure you into it?
I think [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] sound wonder together, but your husband should have 50/50 say on the names (annoying I know 
).

Yeah I am not worried and there’s no pressuring my husband into anything - he is very stubborn! I can try without success I am sure… So unless he has a sincere change of heart it will never happen! Theres no such thing as not giving him a say, I wouldn’t do that. Im just posting what names I love but will most likely not be using.

This is probably a really contentious statement but personally I think the mother gets more of a say on the baby name than the father. If you think about it, they get to determine the sex. We sacrifice our bodies to bring a baby into the world and I feel like naming the child what you want is a real gem to look forward too. 
Having said this, this depends largely on their response and reasoning behind not liking a name. If they adamantly don’t like a name then I’d let it go but if they are a on the fence about the name I would still want to use the name. For instance I have forever been in love with the name [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] for a third son. [name_f]My[/name_f] hubby doesn’t like [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] had a strong reaction to it. [name_f]My[/name_f] top girl name is [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and he is a bit meh about it… But I am definitely using it as I don’t think a meh type reaction is a strong enough reason why I shouldn’t.

Sullivan [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is wonderful and bold. I do really like it 
Donovon, [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] came to mind as similar choices

I think it does give us more of a leg to stand on right? This is exactly why if I have another boy I would re-suggest these. I won’t force it, as I want him to like his son’s name too. But we do go through a lot as the mom, the dad could at least compromise more on the naming - I agree! We not only do the pregnancy and physically have the baby but then we have to deal with breastfeeding, post partum, trying to lose baby weight and so many anxieties that the dads are spared from no matter how helpful they are! Like give us something! Thinking about names has oddly be a pastime of mine through all of this and helped me to relax more. That said, if my husband strongly disliked a name I wouldn’t keep arguing but I think re-suggesting and trying at least to see if he will warm up to it after all couldn’t hurt!

I do really like [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]. They have been shuffled around my list a bit. I dont have middle names for them though.
I oddly don’t love [name_m]Silas[/name_m] but it could also maybe grow on me!
I like [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] too!!

I like [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] (although the problem is I dont like [name_u]Harry[/name_u] or [name_m]Harris[/name_m]). 
I think [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] sounds equally as handsome as [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m], since they share so many of the same sounds! Both are handsome names, but if you have a second son and your husband still wasn’t a fan of [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], maybe then you’d be able to pull out [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] and see if he likes that better?

I love love love [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. I think those pair so well together! [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] is our top boy name right now. It’s such a cute name You have [name_u]Sully[/name_u] and [name_u]Van[/name_u] as fun nickname options too. Hopefully hubby agrees with it!
