Okay, berries, is this bad? It’s a family name on my side and my husband really likes it. I like the [name_m]Ogden[/name_m] [name_m]Nash[/name_m] association but not the fact that it rhymes with all the [name_u]Aiden[/name_u]/[name_u]Brayden[/name_u]/Jaydens out there now.
I wouldn’t worry about the rhyming thing but I personally don’t care for the look or sound of [name_m]Ogden[/name_m]…
Maybe you could use it in the MN slot or use something similar like:
[name_u]Auden[/name_u], [name_m]Austin[/name_m], [name_m]Odin[/name_m], [name_m]Oren[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
Thanks lcd - middle name spot is taken out of desire to avoid hyphenation (and consistency with other kids)…
I think its a fine name. Its a place, maybe where someone in my family is from, now I’m racking my name trying to remember… Is there an Ogdensburg or something like that somewhere? [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry about the den names its delightfully quirky in its own right while maintaining that its a real name with solid roots, if you love it I vote use it.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]OGDEN[/name_m]! [name_u]Love[/name_u]. I love [name_m]Ogden[/name_m] [name_m]Nash[/name_m], and love the name. We named our sweetest [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Retriever [name_m]Ogden[/name_m], otherwise I would totally have it on my boy name list. I never even thought that it rhymed with the -[name_u]Aiden[/name_u] trend (which I also dislike).
Are you thinking of [name_m]Ogden[/name_m], [name_u]Utah[/name_u]?
[name_m]How[/name_m] does Odgen ryhme with the ay-den trend? Isn’t it Og - den? Og as in Hog?
I think it’s a whimsical choice. Oggy is pretty good and very similar to [name_u]August[/name_u] / Auggie, so I don’t think it’s totally out of place. I think I like it, works with your DD’s name.
This was my first thought, but I’m from the area and I’m sure you’re not. So for me, it’s out because it’s one of the larger cities in [name_u]Utah[/name_u]. However, the city is named after [name_m]Peter[/name_m] Skene [name_m]Ogden[/name_m], so it was a name first! I think it’s a little unusual, but if it’s a family name that makes it more interesting.
I don’t mind [name_m]Ogden[/name_m] but really dislike the nickname Oggie (same with Auggie). The short forms sound like a name for a pet, not a human [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
[name_m]Ogden[/name_m] sounds strong and unique without being too weird. I think you should go for it!
I just think of [name_m]Ogden[/name_m], [name_u]Utah[/name_u]. Can’t really see it as a first name.
I think it’s cute and definitely wearable. If Oggie isn’t your thing [name_u]Denny[/name_u] is another possibility for a nn. It is a place, but place names are fine. If you like it and hubby likes it and you have a strong family connection I say do it!
