I am trying to narrow down a list of names for my second daughter (the first is [name_f]Lucie[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]). Most of my family names are [name_m]French[/name_m] and a little on the old-fashioned side. I’m wondering if people think that the following could work for a little girl in 2017:
[name_f]Marcelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecile[/name_f]
[name_u]Pascale[/name_u]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] (not sure about “ette” names in general)
I also like [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f], [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but am put off a bit by popularity. I’m open to other [name_m]French[/name_m] or [name_m]German[/name_m] names. Unfortunately I can’t use anything ending in an “n” sound as it wouldn’t work with our last name.
I love [name_f]Colette[/name_f], and [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]! [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f] is a really pretty spelling also. [name_u]Pascale[/name_u] is cute and unique so you don’t have to worry about it being very popular. [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] is cute too, but I prefer [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], ([name_f]CeCe[/name_f] as a nickname?). Not a fan of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], but I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]! Another [name_m]French[/name_m] name I like is [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], but it might be too popular for your taste. Not a fan of [name_f]Marcelle[/name_f], as I know too many guys with that name. Maybe [name_f]Marcella[/name_f]? Not sure if that variation is [name_m]French[/name_m] though.
Thanks, all! I do like [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] although it reads very Italian to me, rather than [name_m]French[/name_m]. But I’ll keep it on my list, along with [name_u]Pascale[/name_u], [name_f]Colette[/name_f], and [name_f]Cecile[/name_f]! I also like [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] if we decide to stray from family names.
From your list I like [name_u]Pascale[/name_u] & [name_f]Cecile[/name_f]
For suggestions that you might not have heard before…somewhere along the line I came across an old [name_m]Quebec[/name_m] census…these might be a little too ‘out there’ for what you’re looking for but here are a few truly old [name_m]French[/name_m] names…
