Old favorite, with new twist: opinions?

I was recently given more info on my family tree, which was fantastic because it is from the Italian side I was struggling on, plus it gave us some ideas for Italian names to include in our future kids’ names, to reflect my heritage.

Anyhow, our top girl name has been [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] for quite awhile. However, based on the new info, we are considering adding my great-grandmother’s name: [name_f]Alena[/name_f] (my grandpa swears this is how it was spelled, but some internet sources say that the Italian form is actually spelled [name_f]Alina[/name_f]). [name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alena[/name_f] sound? I realize it is a bit long, but we were hoping to get 2 middle names in, if possible.

Thanks!

Edited to ask: maybe Ada Alena Rosemary sounds better? Rosemary is pretty important for us to use, as it contains my Nuni’s name (Mary) and was my great-aunt’s name. Both have since passed and it would be nice to honor them. I’m not too attached to Alena, so it won’t hurt my feelings if you guys don’t care for the combo.

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alena[/name_f] is beautiful.

If I’m completely honest, I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] sounds perfect as it is. It’s a gorgeous combo, and I think tagging [name_f]Alena[/name_f] on the end spoils it a little. It’s not that I don’t care for the name, but I don’t think it works so well in this combo. [name_f]Alena[/name_f] is beautiful, but maybe save it for another combo later down the line!

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is beautiful as it is

I like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] OR [name_f]Alena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], but not [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Alena[/name_f] together in one combo. What about saving it for a possible second daughter?

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] as is, it’s perfect. I don’t think [name_f]Alena[/name_f] works here, I’d save it.

I’m not usually a fan of double middles, but I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alena[/name_f] works unless your surname is overly long.

I think it sounds great!

I agree with the pp. i am not a huge fan of double middle names. I am Italian also and went with the name [name_f]Elena[/name_f]. I have no regrets!

I love [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] as it is, I think adding [name_f]Alena[/name_f] makes it lose the magic for me. [name_f]Alena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is also really pretty, I think you’ll have to choose between [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Alena[/name_f] and save the other one for a possible second daughter.

As someone with two middle names, I love seeing them used! Many worry about making the name over long, but realistically middle names are not used much in day to day life so that really doesn’t matter too much.

While I’m not usually a big fan of alliteration in names, I do think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Alena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] rolls off the tongue a little better than [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alena[/name_f], though this really depends on your surname. I say if you really want the double middle, go for it! And use whichever order you think sounds best with the surname included.

What about [name_f]Alena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] with the nickname/pet name [name_f]Ada[/name_f]??

I actually know a girl named Adalena…Her nickname is addy. Adalena [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] sounds pretty to me

Thanks for the feedback! I really do like [name_f]Alena[/name_f], but maybe we would be better off saving it for a potential other daughter. I’ve been using the full combo in random sentences throughout the day, and agree with other pps that the flow is a bit off. I still think the full combo looks pretty when written down, but [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] still holds the most magic for us. [name_u]Truth[/name_u] be told, with the trouble we are having to conceive even just one child, I worry we won’t be able to have kids…so there’s sort of a pressure, in my mind, to I guess use the names we like/love for one kid, if that makes sense. Oh well. Thanks again for your input!

I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (biased though, as I have one myself)! I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is lovely and is complete in itself. However, family names are important to me also, so I understand the desire to use [name_f]Alena[/name_f]. You could either go [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Alena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], or [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alena[/name_f], without any worries. [name_f]Remember[/name_f] that her middle names are more important to you than anyone else, and people will rarely use them altogether anyway. If you want to give her a second middle name then do and enjoy it! They are all lovely names, and what if you don’t have another daughter??

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Alena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] both sound lovely, but [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Alena[/name_f] together in one combo doesn’t work for me- the sounds are too similar and repetitive. I was going to suggest Adalena/[name_f]Adalina[/name_f] too, and call her [name_f]Ada[/name_f] as a nickname.

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is perfect on it’s own. It’s a very sweet and wholesome name.

Adding [name_f]Alena[/name_f] to it makes the name sound very clunky and it doesn’t run well together at all.

I know understand how tempting it is to use all your favourite/honoured names in one go but I think you are spoiling a beautiful name in it’s own right by tagging [name_f]Alena[/name_f] on. I would think very carefully about this and decide which name is more important to you. I think all of the names go well together as twosomes which is great, you just need to decide which one you want to cut out.

And don’t forget, you may want to save some names to honour a second daughter when the time comes

I like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] alone.

[name_f]Alena[/name_f] is beautiful! I know a girl with that name, although she spelled it [name_f]Aliena[/name_f]. If you really want to include all three names, I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Alena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] would be the way to go. They don’t flow together well in any other order, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. If you’re open to a slight variation, [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] would probably flow a little better since the accent on the names would go from the first syllable in [name_f]Ada[/name_f], to the middle syllable in [name_f]Alena[/name_f], to the last syllable in [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], but [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] sounds just find too. =]

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]… Goodness what a stunning name! It flows off the tongue so beautifully and gives off a vintage, elegant feel. I couldn’t have created a more lovely combination! While [name_f]Alena[/name_f] is a pretty name in its own right, adding it to [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] does, indeed, ruin the combination. As a previous poster stated, it can sometimes be tempting to use all your favourite names in one combination, but in this case- [name_f]Alena[/name_f] is best reserved.

Best Wishes,

Fluffy xx
