Old lady or pretty vintage?

[name_f]Marianne[/name_f] hasn’t made a comeback yet, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t ready for it. I think it fits well with the new wave of Evelyns and Eleanors.

I think [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] would work fine. And i really like the nickname [name_f]Annie[/name_f]! I think it would be refreshing to meet a little [name_f]Marianne[/name_f].

Here are some Sibling ideas,

[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]! I think it’s sweet.

I think [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] would work, it isn’t very popular but to me anyway it isn’t associated with old people either. I say go for it

Take off the “ne” and you’ve got a winner

I like [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]. Its sweet and elegant, appropriate for a young girl and an adult woman. I do prefer [name_f]Marianna[/name_f] though.

I love [name_f]Marianne[/name_f], it’s one of my favorite names. I suppose sibling names would be [name_u]Neal[/name_u] or [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]

While I prefer [name_u]Marion[/name_u] or [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is a lovely name. I immediately think of [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] Dashwood from “Pride and Prejudice”. She was the artist, emotional sister in comparison to her levelheaded, stoic sister [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]. Possible sibling names would be [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], or any classic girls name.

Boy sibling suggestions - [name_m]Walter[/name_m],[name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m].

I think [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is gorgeous.

I think it’s an okay name, I prefer [name_u]Marian[/name_u], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] or [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], but I think it’s definitely usable and not “old lady”. [name_f]Do[/name_f] want you want!

I feel [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is quite the old lady name. I don’t particularly enjoy it. What about a similar [name_f]Mary[/name_f] first name and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as a middle name?

[name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Myra[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
Meridia [name_f]Anne[/name_f]

Etc

Good luck!

Thanks for all the feedback! I have to say my personal fav nickname for [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is Maz

I love [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]! It has a lovely ‘[name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u]’ kind of feel to it- definitely vintage, but softly so (like [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], etc.).

I think it would be really interesting to see [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] as a girls name. I agree that ‘trendy’ is not what everyone should strive for, as it’s not my style either. I think [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] does sound too grandmotherly for much of the current population, but I think it would be revived by belonging to a little girl, to be honest. If the old lady think really bothers you, though, I think just [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is a little more streamlined. Go with what you love, though. Best of luck!

I also thought of the [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] song. Like it for that reason.

I think you are way ahead of the curve with [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] (a good thing imo!).
I was going through the top names decade by decade and noticed [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] and [name_u]Marion[/name_u] were in the top 10 or 20 from about 1920-1950 or 1960’s and I wondered myself if it wasn’t being neglected now. It’s ready for a comeback. And the [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] song is great. And then there is [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood and Maid [name_u]Marion[/name_u]/[name_f]Marianne[/name_f] which is a pretty romantic association to have.
So I vote pretty vintage.

This is my mom’s name! Hers is spelled like: [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f].

I’m not sure if it’s dated or not, but I can only picture it on someone my mother’s age because this is her name. I was thinking of using [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] as a middle name for a future daughter…not sure if you like that or not?

This is my daughter’s favorite name (spelled [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]). I have no idea where she got it from. She says her first daughter will be named [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] ([name_u]Lexie[/name_u] is her bff).

To me, [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is a timeless name. I do not associate it with a particular generation or decade at all. It is a pretty classic and you should go ahead and use it if you like it.
