Old Norse Names

I’ve been seeing some Old Norse and ancient Scandinavian names recently and I’ve been really enjoying them.
A few of you may know that I’m currently trying to add lots of names to my list and also discover some new names that I hadn’t thought to be my style previously. I think that some Old Norse names that I’ve seeing are the type of names I’d like to add to my list
In the Writers’ Corner, I saw the names Embla -I love the meaning (Elm!), Selka -also love the meaning (Berry) and Solfrid which I really like
Does anyone have any Old Norse name suggestions?

Because I’m Icelandic, I have quite a few Old Norse names on my list  Here are some of my favorites. I’ve only listed the ones that are actually Old Norse. Most Icelandic names are modernizations of Old Norse names, but I don’t know if that’s what you’re looking for.

Girls:

Auðr
Brynja
Dagrún
Ebba
Edda
Frigg
Gry
Gulla
Hallþóra
Hildr
Hulda
Iðunn
Svanhildr
Þórný

Boys:

Bjarni
Brandr

Fólki
Gauti
Hrafn
Kári
Magni
Njáll
Rúni
Sumarliði - probably my favorite. It means “summer traveller”
Suni

I found some of them with this generator, so I thought I’d share the link

:hushed: that one does not come across well the way Im seeing it…

[name_f]Holy[/name_f] cow I just noticed that lol :joy: :flushed:

That’s because you’re seeing it wrong  Þ is transcribed as th. So it’s essentially [name_m]Thorny[/name_m].

Yea, I saw that it’s not actually a ‘P’, but if you were to actually name an English-speaking kid that, there would be no end to the teasing. If we saw it, then other people are bound to see it too.

It’s a cool name though!

Since it’s a letter that doesn’t exist in [name_f]English[/name_f], I suppose you couldn’t legally use it for an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking child. Also, making fun of someone’s native language can be quite hurtful, so maybe consider that for the future
