It definitely would fall into the āweirdā category for me; I just think of olives (which I dislike). I also think of the character [name_f]Olive[/name_f] Oil from Popeye, but Iām sure the majority people donāt even know what Popeye is anymore so thatās probably not a big deal. (Iām a teenberry lol the only reason I know about Popeye is because my mom made me and my siblings watch it when we were little.)
I donāt think itās weird at all, but it would be ironic if she grows up to be a bully. Source: I knew an [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] as a kid who would constantly bully people by relating their names to vegetables most of us kids disliked. Think stuff along the lines of Pea-ter or To-May-to to bully totally normal names like [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_f]May[/name_f]. Anyway, then when someone pointed out that his name was basically just olives, he would cry and go to the teacher, and get his bully victim in trouble
So. Is [name_f]Olive[/name_f] a normal name? Yes. Is there some bullying potential? Yes, but there is for literally any name.
is it weird? no
does it make me think of the word/food and thus things associated with it (Olive Garden, olive oil, olives, olive tree, etc)? yes, very much so
I donāt think itās weird! Some people may associate it with the food, but I donāt think thatās a big deal.
[name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] aka [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] whole life I would be [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] as kinda a double barrel first name just for fun and I loved it! I decided that I just wanted my name to be Millie-Olive [name_f]Iris[/name_f]! I liked [name_f]Iris[/name_f] cause it meant rainbow. But I loveeee the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and I think it is so gorgeous and I often feel so lucky to see it in my name. Sadly my children will never have [name_f]Olive[/name_f] in their name cause I am so often called [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] but I love it so much I think it is so beautiful. I think people who donāt like it need to go have a word with themselves cause they probably like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] which is not nearly as pretty but still has the sound [name_f]Olive[/name_f] in it.
Sorry if this was kinda long I felt quite passionate about this topic.
i love that!! millie olive is just such a sweet name! if i dont give the name olive to my kids, iāll use it as a double barrel like that. soooo lovely!
Thank you! Donāt let stupid comments change what you want to name your future child. This is coming from someone who once decided that she was going to name her child [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] after Tescoās here in the UK. Donāt worry I grew up fast and realised that was stupid. I love it when [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is double barrelled it just makes me so happy!
Not weird at all, I know a couple of Olives of all ages. Nobody bats an eyelid when they hear it.
We decided, back in 2017, that if we have a little girl, we would name her [name_f]Olive[/name_f] or [name_f]EsmƩe[/name_f].
We live in [name_u]France[/name_u] and got so much crap from my friends and family. Everytime we ate tapenade people joked about āyouāre eating your daughterā. They laughed when we crossed the olive oil isle in stores. [name_f]Every[/name_f] single christmas, my family talked about the name āis it still Olive?ā, āyou canāt do that, poor kidā, āI would call her another name if you name her Oliveā, etc.
Also, in [name_u]France[/name_u], āmettre une oliveā means putting your finger into somebodyās butt. Itās only used by teenagers.
[name_f]My[/name_f] husbandās side thought it was a classic and normal name.
We had a daughter in 2020 and did not name her [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. Not a weird name in my opinion, it just didnāt work in [name_u]France[/name_u]. I still think itās a beautiful name
[name_f]My[/name_f] nickname among all my friends is [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and I am frequently called this more than my given name [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], I also prefer [name_f]Olive[/name_f] to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. I totally get the [name_f]Olive[/name_f] Garden reference but when I hear someone call my name my mind never jumps to the restaurant, not even as a secondary thought. [name_f]Nor[/name_f] have I heard many people identify my nn with that.
I love the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f]! It is #7 on my all-time list of faves!
