Hello everyone, I’ve got a quick question!
I’m not a huge fan of my first name, but I caught up with Fantastic Beasts recently and realized the name [name_f]Queenie[/name_f] can be a nickname for my name. I like its sound, but I’m a bit sceptical. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys view [name_f]Queenie[/name_f] as a sassy, vintage nickname name like [name_f]Roxy[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] or do you think it sounds “trashy” in the way names like [name_u]Royal[/name_u] and [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] are thought to be? Thanks in advance!
I don’t think that [name_f]Queenie[/name_f] sounds trashy, but I wouldn’t immediately place it into the vintage nickname category that seems to be taking off right now. [name_f]Queenie[/name_f] reminds me more of a name for a pet than a person, though.
I agree with the above. It’s definitely not “trashy” to me, but not do I find it particularly sassy, like [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] or [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. To me, it’s more of a proper “old lady” name, since it hasn’t taken off as part of the trend for vintage names in the way that your other examples have. I think it’s on-trend, though, while being unlikely to get too popular because it feels quite quietly daring. Not a personal favourite, but I think your concerns are unfounded.
[name_f]Queenie[/name_f] sounds like a nickname for an unrelated/barely related name. I actually thought that that was the case for [name_f]Queenie[/name_f] Goldstein for like the first half of Fantastic Beasts.
Thanks for your input! I’m still undecided so I’d love some more opinions.
I definitely get a flapper vibe from it. Great choice for a character in the 1920s! I can’t imagine the character as anything else.
