Below are firsts and middles we’re considering for an [name_m]August[/name_m] baby. Please tell me one combo you would choose and why[name_f][/name_f]. [name_m]The[/name_m] explanation really helps me in the decision process! [name_m]The[/name_m] middles are all honor names, so feel free to use any form of the name (for example: [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Julius[/name_m], [name_m]Jules[/name_m], etc.) if you think it works better.
First choice: [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
-Forrest is my favorite of your first names. It is handsome, underrated, rugged yet polished. [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] has a wonderful meaning, and I like it paired with [name_m]Forrest[/name_m]. It is unexpected, but nice.
[name_f][/name_f]
Second choice: [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] [name_m]Jules[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
-Cormac is my second favorite first name on your list. I like that it is an easy-to-pronounce [name_m]Irish[/name_m] name. It is suitable for all ages, being very cute on a little boy, handsome on a young-man, and wise on an older man. For the middle, I love the name [name_m]Jules[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
If you would consider it, I would also cast a vote for [name_m]Jules[/name_m] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m]. Two honor names, plus your kid would have the first name [name_m]Jules[/name_m], which is aweome all by itself.
It’s tough to give just one! There are 6 first names I really like [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Cormac[/name_m]. From these I came up with the combo:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_m]Dominic[/name_m]. I love the strength and character of [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], that it’s not over-used, and just has good and interesting vibes for me. [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] just sounds great with it and is a good name in itself, classic and not-overused.
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] is beautiful [name_f][/name_f]- handsome and rugged, but snappy and energetic; it fits in with the other Irish/Gaelic names on your list while also being easily recognisable
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Valentine[/name_m] has a lot of flair and elegant [name_f][/name_f]- sharp but romantic and I like the mix of flowing, poetic [name_m]Valentine[/name_m] with earthy [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- they sound heroic together but not in an over the top or in your face way
[name_f][/name_f]
Nickname potential! [name_m]Mac[/name_m] and [name_m]Cory[/name_m]! Cormy [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f], [name_m]Cal[/name_m], [name_m]Kit[/name_m], even
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m]. [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] is my favorite from your first names. [name_m]Julian[/name_m] is actually my second favorite of your middles–my first favorite was [name_m]John[/name_m], but I think [name_m]Julian[/name_m] adds a romance to [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] that [name_m]John[/name_m] can’t.
@somemelodioussonnet[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] Thank you! Our last name is very common, so i definitely like some flair somewhere in the name! I’ve considered using Johan/Johannes instead of [name_m]John[/name_m] for that reason
Thanks for all the explanation! I’ve never thought of them together, but I agree, they have a great balance of rugged and romantic! [name_f]In[/name_f] love with the nn mac
This reminded of @Greyblue[name_f][/name_f] suggestion, but flip flopped! Soft flowing name first, then the hard consonants and staccato! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I both love [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], but worry it feels like a stock name for Irishman in a cliche movie.
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I think it flows well together.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I think it flows well together.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I love the nickname [name_m]Mack[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I’m [name_m]Irish[/name_m] and this is one of my guilty pleasure names, my wife would never go for it though!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Conall[/name_m] [name_m]Christian[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I love the meaning of ‘strong wolf’, I think it’s empowering.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] [name_m]Bosco[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I think it’s bold and again I love the nickname [name_m]Mack[/name_m].
I saw [name_m]Jules[/name_m] and I couldn’t go past him! [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]You[/name_m] have so many lovely names, but I’ve been so smitten with [name_m]Jules[/name_m] lately! [name_f][/name_f] I’m really fond of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Jules[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] [name_m]Jules[/name_m], [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_m]Jules[/name_m], and [name_m]Andreas[/name_m] [name_m]Jules[/name_m]! [name_f][/name_f] It’s really hard to pick between the four, but I think I’m going with [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Jules[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f] For me he fits best with your older kiddos, [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] reminds me of your oldest son’s name since I read a novel with an August!ne [name_m]Aquinas[/name_m] named for both saints, so it feels like a perfect pairing! [name_f][/name_f] I also really just liked [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] best with [name_m]Jules[/name_m] and the sibset in general—Andreas [name_m]Jules[/name_m] was my second pick and I didn’t love that he would have the same initial as your oldest kiddo. [name_f][/name_f] I do really like him though and if it weren’t for the alliteration, I probably would’ve picked him instead! He does seem a little more extravagant from your other kiddos so that was another reason I picked [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].
I like [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m][name_f][/name_f]! [name_m]George[/name_m] is handsome and definitely well-known, but it would be a pleasant surprise on a new baby (just like your other kids’ names – from your previous birth announcement)! I’ve always loved [name_m]Valentine[/name_m] as a middle name and I think it flows well, and balances out the “common”-ness of [name_m]George[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
Cute nicknames could be [name_f]Georgie[/name_f] or Goose… but just [name_m]George[/name_m] is great!
[name_f][/name_f]
As a runner up I also like [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m][name_f][/name_f]! I think my favorite combos from your names have a well-known name (George or Julian) paired an unexpected but established one (Valentine or Forrest).
[name_f]My[/name_f] first pick is [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]Well I am going to have a hard time because I really love all of these names !!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I love [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- it has a ton of meaning for me as our fetal surgeon who saved our lives is named [name_m]Tim[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]. I love [name_m]John[/name_m]. I think it is wildly underused and so refreshing these days [name_f][/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
-Forrest [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I love the flow and [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] feels fresh and spunky [name_f][/name_f]. For me personally it has some family connections but I also think it’s so timeless
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I love [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] and all the versatility and nickname potential
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m] Boscoe I adore [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] !! But also love the potential of Poco
[name_f]My[/name_f] pick would be [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m]!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is a lovely, classic name that (at least to me) doesn’t feel like it’s absolutely everywhere. This is what gave him the edge over [name_m]George[/name_m] for me, though I do really like the idea of [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m] too. There’s plenty of nicknames available (Fred, [name_m]Freddie[/name_m], [name_m]Fritz[/name_m] …). [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Valentine[/name_m] is romantic and sophisticated, and combined with [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] makes a really elegant combo.
[name_f]So[/name_f] many wonderful options – it’s hard to choose. I considered which names I liked best with your four older children, not what I would choose for my own. [name_m]The[/name_m] standouts: [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_m]Timothy[/name_m], [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
For middles, I’m generally lead by the meaning or name story and I can’t do that in this exercise. But I would potentially look at names that connect to [name_m]August[/name_m] as the expected birth month [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Dominic[/name_m], [name_m]Baptiste[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f][/name_f] otherwise which connections I was drawn to generally.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite combination for you might be [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Karol[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] as a less common classic to tie in your eldest daughter, with distinct [name_m]Irish[/name_m] ties. [name_m]Karol[/name_m] as a bold middle to add some flair with a clear connection to [name_m]Pope[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] II. [name_m]The[/name_m] kicky ‘k’ shared between [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] and [name_m]Karol[/name_m] is very eye-catching and snappy and I just couldn’t go past it.
I would personally choose [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_f]Joy[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
I love its warm and cozy feeling. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a name that could suit anyone. [name_f]Joy[/name_f] for a boy is name I’ve loved for years. [name_m]The[/name_m] sentiment is beautiful and it’s a brave pick but still very simple.
[name_f][/name_f]
I know many people would hesitate to choose [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. [name_f]In[/name_f] that case my backups would be [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Baptiste[/name_m] or [name_m]Emile[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m].
