One extreme or the other?

Which do you like more:
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m], the popular classic
OR
[name_m]Othello[/name_m], the obscure one-character name from a not-very-obscure-at-all piece of literature?

In this case, definitely [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. Considering [name_m]Othello[/name_m] has a fair bit of baggage. It’s an attractive sounding name, but then again he did murder his wife and all. He’s not exactly the villain of the play, but he’s not blameless either. I don’t think [name_m]Othello[/name_m] is obscure at all, it’s one of the most famous plays in Western literature. However, it is very little used as a name, for what I think are obvious reasons.

[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. %100

Definitely [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. I love the nickname [name_u]Drew[/name_u]. I don’t mind more obscure names, but [name_m]Othello[/name_m] is just too much… Honestly, if I met someone who named their son that, I would definitely have an involuntary eye roll.

I prefer [name_m]Othello[/name_m] but I’ve never been a big fan of [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] or it’s inevitable nn [name_u]Andy[/name_u]. It’s one of those names that definitely fit anyone, like [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m], but it is a tad too boring for my taste.

I 100% prefer [name_m]Othello[/name_m]! I have never really been a fan of the name [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] but I do like the nicknames [name_u]Drew[/name_u] and [name_u]Andy[/name_u].

[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. [name_m]Othello[/name_m] is too tied to [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] (and not a fab association either)

I knew many Andrews growing up and never once did they go by [name_u]Andy[/name_u]. I wouldn’t call it inevitable.

[name_m]Othello[/name_m] for sure.
