Are two middle names too much? Does it look weird since there are four names instead of three? Or is it okay?
What would be good middle names for
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_m]Linus[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
Depends if they are spoken aloud frequently. I knew people who had extra names that were just “there” but never invoked, and eventually they dropped them altogether. One woman I knew always forgot to write it on forms that required her full legal name and always had to do her paperwork over again. She even forgot how to spell it! ( It was something like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] that has a lot of variants.)
But I knew others whose extra middle names were said out loud often enough and they never felt like the extra names were baggage. I guess it’s “use it or lose it.” Better to have two or three middle names than none.
I don’t think it’d be crazy weird or anything, lots of people have two middle names.
Personally I think it’s a bit unnecessary, unless you really want to honor someone, but I wouldn’t judge anyone for using them! I’d just make sure not to go overboard (because [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] Marianthe [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] IS a bit much).
I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] from your signature! I’d add something equally dainty, such as [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] etc
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Ford[/name_m]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_u]Clancy[/name_u]
I used two middles for our [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and we call her by her full name often because it’s fun to say. We haven’t run into any issues with paperwork yet!
I’m leaning more towards two middle names for my future kids. One for family, another just being one I like that might not work up front. (For example I love OisĂn for a boy, but I guarantee nobody will pronounce it right since we don’t live in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], so into the middle spot it goes)
I’m a fan of two middle names, I just prefer the flow. I had a friend when I was younger who had 4 middle names, plus her mother’s double barreled maiden name, in between her first and last. 8 names total. Which was a bit much to me!
Sure, especially if the flow is better or you’d like to honour people. Like imagine you wanted to honour both of your parents but don’t want to use them in the first spot and you aren’t going to have any more kids.
@cactusgram I bet it is fun to say her name out loud, especially as it’s so beautiful ”
I myself have two middles, when I was little it made me feel incredibly fancy!
My daughter also has two middles. They honour my grandma and my mum. I love my daughter’s name so much, and am so happy I chose to give her two middle names.
