One syllable first and middle names?

We are team green-Most of the first names we like are one syllable (for boys and girls…think [name]Reid[/name], [name]Paige[/name], [name]Reese[/name]) The problem is that the middle names we are kind of stuck with are also one syllable. If it is a boy, the middle name has to be [name]John[/name].
What do you think of [name]Reid[/name] [name]John[/name]?
If it is a girl, the middle name has to be [name]Jane[/name]. ([name]John[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] are both family/traditional middle names)
What do you think of [name]Paige[/name] [name]Jane[/name]?

Last name starts with a N and is two syllables…for some reason I am having trouble letting go of these names or convincing myself I love them with the middle names! This baby will be born in two months and we are stuck!!!

Could you use two middle names? It would help break up the one syllable names.
For example:
[name]Reid[/name] [name]Edward[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Paige[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Reese[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Reese[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] [name]John[/name]
…you get the idea.

I don’t think it’s a problem to have a first and middle name with one syllable. The middle names have significance to you and that’s what is important. I think [name]Reid[/name] [name]John[/name] and [name]Paige[/name] [name]Jane[/name] sound just fine. While it may not be the best flow you could imagine, it is not bad and worth it imo to use the names you love.

Another possibility might be to use a longer variation of [name]John[/name] or [name]Jane[/name] in the middle, if you feel that would still honor your family tradition.

[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Jonah[/name]
[name]Jonas[/name]
[name]Johnson[/name]
[name]Johannes[/name]

[name]Janet[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name]
[name]Giovanna[/name]

The problem with having two one-syllable names is of course the flow. If this is something which is not important to you, then just choose the names that you love.

But with regards to flow, the main issue would be the repeating J sounds, very close together, in [name]Paige[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - it makes it somewhat hard to say. (Which is a pity, as I like both names. ) If you were willing to venture away from [name]Jane[/name], then I think a softer one-syllable middle name would balance [name]Paige[/name] well. [name]Just[/name] some examples :
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Lou[/name]
[name]Mae[/name]
[name]Fay[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Faith[/name]
[name]Hope[/name]
And of course the uber-popular [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Rose[/name].

There are also many very short two-syllable names which I think would work well - perhaps [name]Ama[/name] or [name]Marie[/name]/[name]Mary[/name]?

[name]Reid[/name] [name]John[/name] is rather abrupt, and the consonants being next to each other makes it a little difficult to say, but other than that I can really see no issues with it.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions! That is what I was afraid of… I do agree they are hard to say together…especially [name]Paige[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Can anyone suggest some similar first names, keeping the middle name john/jane?

thanks!

[name]Candace[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Jane[/name] ([name]Meg[/name])
[name]Avery[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Waverly[/name] [name]Jane[/name]

[name]Everett[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Eric[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name]
[name]Russell[/name] [name]John[/name] ([name]Russ[/name])

So you absolutely cannot change it to, say, [name]Reid[/name] [name]Jonathan[/name], which has excellent flow, and [name]Paige[/name] [name]Janette[/name]?

[name]Paley[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Peyton[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Piper[/name] [name]Jane[/name]*
[name]Posy[/name] [name]Jane[/name]

[name]Rusty[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Radley[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Redford[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Roman[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Roscoe[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name] [name]John[/name]
[name]Russell[/name] [name]John[/name]*
[name]Ryder[/name] [name]John[/name]*

i [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Reid[/name] [name]Jonathon[/name]…but not too sure how that will go over, it has been “john” for about 4 generations now…I have more lee way with the girl middle names, however…[name]Paige[/name] [name]Janette[/name] would be fine (i think!) but is it hard to say since the first name ends in the same sound as the middle name begins with? What are other middle names with the same jay sound as jayne?

I honestly don’t think [name]Paige[/name] will sound ideal with any name beginning with [name]Jay[/name]. The “-ge” of [name]Paige[/name] and the "J’ of any [name]Jane[/name] name clash. [name]Do[/name] you like any other names besides [name]Paige[/name]?

[name]Paulina[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (you could call her [name]Lina[/name]?)
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (this is too cute!)
[name]Piper[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Priya[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Prudence[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (nickname [name]Prue[/name]?)

Good luck with choosing!

If you like [name]Reese[/name], one of my girlfiends named her daughter [name]Theresa[/name], but calls her [name]Reese[/name] 98% of the time. [name]Theresa[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is lovely!

I personally think [name]Paige[/name] [name]Jane[/name] sounds too short although i like both names. [name]Paige[/name] [name]Janie[/name]/ [name]Jayni[/name]/ [name]Jaynie[/name] however you want to spell it sounds really good. [name]Reid[/name] [name]John[/name] sounds okay I think although I’m not a huge fan of either.

I always thought that a four-syllable count first and middle name sounded best. (2-2, 3-1, 1-3) So I think if you have a one syllable name, I think it is best to have a three-syllable middle name, like [name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] or [name_f]Paige[/name_f] [name_f]Genovieve[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my thoughts. Granted I also always think a 3-1 sounds better than a 2-2 better than a 1-3.
