Help! We are at the one-week countdown until [name_u]Baby[/name_u] #2 arrives. We are Team [name_u]Green[/name_u]. Older brother is [name_u]Merit[/name_u] [name_u]William[/name_u] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m].
Our boy name choice is [name_m]Bram[/name_m] [name_m]Aaron[/name_m].
For girls…we are struggling. I believe we’ve narrowed it down to [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] or [name_u]Briar[/name_u], and then we’d like to honor a family member with the middle name. Either [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] (probably spelt [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] to be more feminine), [name_f]Joy[/name_f] or [name_f]Valerie[/name_f].
Is “BJ” as first/middle initial horrible? [name_f]Do[/name_f] [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] and [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] sounds too similar together? Open to any/all opinions/advice/thoughts!
First of all, congrats for the baby!! I adore [name_u]Briar[/name_u]! I’d say having the initials “BJ” IS risky. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite of your list is [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m].
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite combo of yours is [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]. I do think that [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] and [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] sound a little too close to be used together. I agree that BJ is risky, but I think it would be less noticeable as a first and middle initial than as a first and last initial!
I like [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] the most with your son’s name. Could [name_f]Erin[/name_f] be an option? I think that’s the best spelling for a girl.
[name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] is lovely and my favourite from your list.
I find [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] hard to say following both [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u], however it’s not often that you say the whole name so if you had a strong preference for it you could still use it.
I agree [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] doesn’t quite flow off the tongue, [name_f]Joy[/name_f] seems short in comparison with your sons name. [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] gets my vote!
I do think BJ is risky, but [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is beautiful. I am partial to [name_u]Blaire[/name_u]! [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] is a beautiful choice!
[name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] does sound too similar together with the long A.
You are all supposed to vote the same so that the “best” name is obvious!! [name_m]Just[/name_m] kidding of course!
It seems like consensus is stay away from “BJ” initials if possible, and then [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] flows better than [name_m]Aarin[/name_m]. [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] is my and my grandma’s middle name; [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] is my husband’s late grandpa. He is Jewish and in Judaism, you name after the most recent deceased relative. I would like to hold out on using [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] for #3 someday, if it were a boy; otherwise, if we use it this time around for a girl…we don’t have any male middle name options in the foreseeable future. (Knock on wood!!!) This is probably too much information, but wanted to share
I don’t see anything wrong with the initials of BJ, but I do think that [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] does not go together too well. I do think that [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] go together quite well!
I think my favorite names are [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f].
[name_u]Blaire[/name_u] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] are both great choices!
Personally I would either spell [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] typically, or go with a feminine name that sounds the same like [name_f]Erin[/name_f]. [name_m]Aarin[/name_m] doesn’t look any more feminine than [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]. I also think [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] is kind of tricky when paired with [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] or [name_u]Briar[/name_u] because all the names are vowel and R heavy. [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] / [name_f]Erin[/name_f] sounds better and is less of a tongue twister than [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] / [name_f]Erin[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Joy[/name_f] is probably the most seemlessly paired muddle name here and works well with both first name options. [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is maybe a little choppy with both names being single syllable but it’s still a nice combo. [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is a little wordy but so sweet. I understand why someone may want to avoid the initials BJ but this to me isn’t a dealbreaker personally.
I absolutely adore [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]! It shares some of the same issues as [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], but I think that V, long E sounding ending, and the syllable count help keep this one from getting into tongue twister territory.
I think overall [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] is my favorite.
Congrats on the baby! I would go with [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_m]Aarin[/name_m], have you ever thought of spelling it [name_m]Aron[/name_m], I’ve always loved that spelling and it seems more feminine, [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is also adorable and don’t worry about initials BJ
For your girls personally I would rule out all j middle names BJ initials are just bad and will lead to teasing I automatically thought of the sex act (sorry crude) and I think others will too. Personally I think both Aaron/Aarin are too masculine with your unisex choices I would automatically assume they are a boy which could cause difficulty for your daughter later on. So this leads me with Valerie! Valerie is beautiful a lovely family name that works brilliantly with either name.
Okay moving away from the middle names it’s now a deciding between Blaire & Briar which is hard. Blaire feels sleek, modern and cool she sounds great with Valerie along with being a wonderful sibling for Merit. Briar feels lively, outdoorsy, almost wild and with a wonderful botanical association. she works well with Merit and is awesome with Valerie.
Ah both are swell but I think I have to go with Briar Valerie. Briar is just beautiful has that gorgeous wild rose association and I think matches with Merit as they are both happy names. But I would bring both Blaire Valerie & Briar Valerie to just see which works the best for your daughter.
Hope this helped & once again congrats/good luck!
Edit: Just reading through the comments and you’ve stated your trying to follow Jewish customs with honouring your Grandfather Aaron. My mother is Ashkenazi Jewish and I appreciate how important traditions are! I honoured my mother (not deceased so of course it’s different) by following the tradition of using a name with the same starting a initial of hers. Could you use Annalise, Alma or Anya as a way to honour Grandfather Aaron? Alternatively could you have two middle names maybe Valerie Aaron could work? I wouldn’t change the spelling though as none of the alternatives are feminine I would just stick with Aaron if you were to do that.
