OpheliaFlora's Questionnaire [Your Names]

In my meta-NB polls, many of you replied that you would like to see more name tags/questionnaires/places to talk about your names, so enjoy!

1. What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?
[name_m]Elio[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_u]Rafa[/name_u]
2. What combo would you steal from another berry?
Literally so many, I couldn’t possibly pick (or honestly remember) one
3. Do you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?
GIRL
4. Do you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?
I’ve noticed my two favourite girl names have an EE sound towards the end & two of my favourite bits end with an R sound. But other than that, not really. Maybe boy names that end in O…
5. What is your favourite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?
I haven’t noticed any patterns, but that’s not really a strong suit of mine, so maybe there are.
6. What is your aesthetic for names?
Not sure! For the ones I’d actually use, I try not to assign a certain aesthetic/image to them (although I do have in mind what [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] looks like. [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t know why, always have). For names I like, my style is so all over the place, I couldn’t really pick just one!
7. When you think about names, what do you picture?
Nothing specific, usually. [name_f]My[/name_f] mind is (generally speaking) annoyingly abstract.
8. Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the short list?
No. I know this happens with a lot of people, but I think I’ll be like my parents in this regard (unless my future husband doesn’t like my names :weary:)
9. Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!
[name_f]My[/name_f] mind’s going blank :grimacing:
10. What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?
I’m not super into meanings, so I’m not sure
11. Which names do you feel especially protective over?
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Wilde[/name_u], [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_u]Keats[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u], & [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_m]Bly[/name_m]. But a ton more that I’d never use, but I don’t want anyone else to either :joy:
12. Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?
The only actual list I keep is the names I’d actually use. But there’s a ton of names I love that I would never use. Always because they’re just not my kid
13. What are your favourite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family?
Oh gosh, too many for standalones. Family, probably [name_f]Lovey[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
14. You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?
I think @hannahwren would do right by me :ok_hand:t2: (Although, I think a lot of people would do well! She’s just the first that came to mind)
15. You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the langue this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?
[name_u]Monaco[/name_u], I guess. [name_m]Elio[/name_m] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] & [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Ludovica[/name_f]
16. Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?
N/A
17. What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?
[name_f]My[/name_f] name doesn’t have any international variants. Favourite boy would be [name_m]Teodor[/name_m] & I guess [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] for [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]? There’s not really any variations of [name_u]Wilde[/name_u] or [name_u]Scout[/name_u] (their middles).
18. What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three tv shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favourite shows/movies?
Last 3- [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] & [name_u]Jess[/name_u] [name_u]Howard[/name_u] | Favourites- [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] & [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] [name_u]Oliver[/name_u]
19. If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?
For a boy, either [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Nicanor[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]. For a girl, [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
20. Tell me about your names in as much or little detail as you want
They’re just my kids, ya know? Not too vintage, not too modern. A little more popular than I’d like, but oh well. I’m really bad at describing things, so imma stop here :sob:

1: Aside from the usual [name_u]Toryn[/name_u] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], I’ve been so solidified on [name_u]Kemper[/name_u] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].
2: @Mickeywich [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_m]Cash[/name_m]
3: Boys names!
4: I love the long “A” sound in names like [name_u]Kade[/name_u], [name_m]Kayne[/name_m], [name_u]Rain[/name_u], [name_m]Abel[/name_m], [name_u]Chase[/name_u], [name_m]Waylon[/name_m], [name_u]Casey[/name_u], [name_u]Kayden[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], etc.
5: I don’t think I really have a favourite
6: [name_f]Music[/name_f] and Gothic, maybe
7: Depends on the type of name. Different names make me think of different personalities a kid could have.
8: Absolutely not! I’m set on [name_u]Toryn[/name_u] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] and could never scrap that name ever!
9: I think [name_m]Gunner[/name_m] gets a lot of heat due to it’s “[name_m]Gun[/name_m]” beginning but I adore the name. It makes me think of [name_m]Gunnar[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] and [name_m]Gunnar[/name_m] [name_m]Hansen[/name_m], both of which I like and have the utmost respect for. I also really love the meaning “[name_u]Warrior[/name_u]”.
10: Heulyn which means “[name_u]Ray[/name_u] of [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f]”
11: [name_u]Toryn[/name_u]!
12: None really! I guess it would depend on if I ever did have kids but I can’t see myself currently, ever letting a name go because I don’t think I’ll be bold enough to use it.
13: Kemp, [name_f]Viv[/name_f], [name_u]Grey[/name_u], [name_f]Wynnie[/name_f], [name_m]Hal[/name_m]/Hale
14: I have enough faith in the lot of you guys but I’ll go with @katinka since I at least know that [name_u]Toryn[/name_u] would stillget used because she knows how much I love it!
15: [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Kaea[/name_f] & [name_u]Koa[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
16: [name_m]Wales[/name_m] so I could use Heulyn with no pronunciation issues.
17: Tauren [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] [name_m]Veniamin[/name_m]
18: [name_u]Kemper[/name_u] [name_u]Dallas[/name_u] & [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Selene[/name_f]
[name_m]Jason[/name_m] [name_m]Davey[/name_m] & [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
19: [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] from @futuremama and [name_u]Vyvyan[/name_u] from yours!
20: I’ve taken them mainly from music but there are also some from movies and literature in there as well. Not really sure what else I could say about them aside from that I love them lol

I’m so glad people enjoyed my first questionnaire! Thank you for making one with your own questions, I absolutely love all your question ideas. Also, your meta-NB polls were fun.
1. What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?
At the moment, I’m thinking a lot about both [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]/Ágústa. I only realized recently, thanks to a fellow [name_u]Berry[/name_u], that they are both cities in [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], USA! What a random coincidence.
2. What combo would you steal from another berry?
Literally all of @planetnames names and combos. Saying [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] might be cheating, so aside from that name, I would totally steal [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Faraday[/name_m] & [name_u]Rumi[/name_u] [name_u]Holland[/name_u].
3. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?
Probably girls… But it’s pretty close! I love both.
4. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?
I really love names ending in -ian for boys. I’ve also found the vast majority of my favorites for girls end in A, but that might be just the fact that so many girls’ names end in the letter A.
5. What is your favorite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?
I’m a big fan of the safe first, bold middle (or occasionally vice versa). I also really like two names in a combo both ending in the letter A, but it’s really hard to execute this correctly! It can so easily become choppy and messy.
6. What is your aesthetic for names?
I would describe it as ‘Northern European prince/princess’.
7. When you think about names, what do you picture?
For MY names, the same as the aesthetic. What I picture for names, in general, is harder to say - I see names as a canvas of hope if that makes sense. I remember someone, a [name_u]Berry[/name_u] (although I can’t remember who) describing names as the very first gift you receive, and that notion has always stuck in my head as being very beautiful, and very true, so I definitely imagine names as a gift.
8. Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the shortlist?
Potentially? I really don’t see myself scrapping [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f], like, ever, but it’s harder to say for all my other names. I definitely think this could happen with boys. [name_f]My[/name_f] miscarried angel baby is named [name_u]Briar[/name_u], which is a name that kind of came to me out of nowhere. It had never been on a list of mine, but I remember seeing it on Nameberry when I decided to name the baby (after the miscarriage) and thought “this is my child’s name.” It was a really weird, yet certain and secure feeling.
9. Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!
[name_m]Oskar[/name_m]! It ticks all the boxes to be a Nameberry favorite, yet I hardly see it, or its counterpart, [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], anywhere on the forums. It’s familiar, but still widely unused. It has a great namesake - [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] Schindler - and will stand out in a sea of names without being mispronounced. The ‘K’ adds such a cool flare and to me, makes the name as a whole look a lot more balanced.
10. What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?
I’ll link my [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] post. Unfortunately, this won’t be accessible unless you’re a regular and are in the lounge!
https://forum.nameberry.com/t/how-evaluna-came-to-be/357574/7
11. Which names do you feel especially protective over?
[name_f]Evaluna[/name_f], [name_m]Oskar[/name_m], [name_f]Alaska[/name_f], Karsia, [name_u]James[/name_u], & [name_m]Iver[/name_m]
12. Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?
Good question! Probably Karsia. Absolutely adore it, but for some reason, I don’t see myself using it?
13. What are your favorite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family?
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] “[name_f]Darling[/name_f]” is a family exclusive nickname. I absolutely love ‘Ev’ as a nickname for [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f], and ‘[name_u]Jem[/name_u]’ as a nickname for [name_u]James[/name_u].
14. You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?
@acajou, 1000 times over! She would pick the perfect name for baby, either an old favorite of mine, or she would come up with something equally beautiful I hadn’t thought of. I feel like we know each other’s style so well, and she’s probably the only [name_u]Berry[/name_u] whose child I could confidently name.
15. You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the langue this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?
I would choose Estonia or Ecuador! For Estonia, the names I would select are Katye & [name_m]Rasmus[/name_m]. For Ecuador, I would select [name_f]Eva[/name_f] & [name_m]Victor[/name_m].
16. Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?
Well, I would live here for plenty of other reasons, but Iceland. The most Iceland-exclusive name I can currently think of is Arnkatla.
17. What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?
[name_f]My[/name_f] name would be [name_f]Theia[/name_f] Salomėja. So pretty!
18. What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three tv shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favorite shows/movies?
Well, the most recent shows I watched are my favorites! I would choose [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] & [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Mazikeen[/name_f]
19. If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?
From @Sky85 - I would name my children [name_u]Laken[/name_u] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m].
20. Tell me about your names in as much or little detail as you want
They just feel like mine. They truly represent everything I wish for my children to be.

I’ll edit in my responses tomorrow morning, but @kasatka you can name my child anytime  – and I’m in love with [name_f]Darling[/name_f] as a family nickname for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]!

Let me know if you want your topic linked; I wasn’t sure because of something you said in another post, so I didn’t, however, I’ll gladly do so as I (and so many other berries) loved your thread!

It’s alright, no need to link unless you want to. I was so happy to see your topic come up!

What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?
[name_u]Meridian[/name_u] for a boy!

What combo would you steal from another berry?
@OliviaBrady’s [name_f]Oona[/name_f] [name_u]Calloway[/name_u] is gorgeous!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?
It honestly depends, but typically girl’s names are easier.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?
Hmm, not really.

What is your favourite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?
I’m not sure, to be honest.

What is your aesthetic for names?
Waking up at Daybreak to Watch The [name_u]Sun[/name_u] Rise Over The [name_u]Sea[/name_u] | Exploring the Tidepools Along the [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] Beaches | [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] Days & [name_f]Summer[/name_f] Storms | Coastal Wildflowers | Towering Cliffs Above the [name_u]Sea[/name_u] | [name_u]Carefree[/name_u] Attitudes & Contagious Laughter | Running Barefoot Along The Coast | The Wind Whipping At Your Hair | [name_u]Berry[/name_u] Stains on Your Fingers | Cobblestone Paths | Chasing Fireflies | Whispering in the Dark | Sneaking out to Swim in the Cold [name_u]Night[/name_u] [name_u]Sea[/name_u] | Stargazing at [name_u]Midnight[/name_u]

When you think about names, what do you picture?
I picture myself calling the name of my future children.

Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child?
No. Many of the names I currently have are honors / have special meaning to me.

Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!
[name_f]Aihe[/name_f] (ai-hey) is a gorgeous Maori girls name meaning “dolphin”. It’s short, sweet, and unique. It’s a perfect name for a little girl who loves the sea.

What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?
Singular: [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] — little seal
Combo: [name_f]Mari[/name_f] Driftwood — sea of driftwood, or [name_f]Naida[/name_f] [name_f]Róisín[/name_f] — little roses of the sea nymph

Which names do you feel especially protective over?
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]! [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] holds such a special place in my heart as an honor for two people I dearly love. I also love the meaning and the history behind the name.

Another is Driftwood. Driftwood also holds significance to me as a symbol of perseverance + holds a special place in some of my fondest childhood memories.

I’m also particularly protective of Seagazer— I dunno, I just see myself as the “original creator” of the name, so I get a tad annoyed when other people use it. :joy: (jokes aside, anyone is welcome to use it! I really don’t mind!)

Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?
No, not really. I’m a fairly adventurous namer, so most names on my list I could potentially use.

What are your favourite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family?
I love [name_f]Nim[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Nimue[/name_f], and honestly any name that starts with N!

You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?
That’s hard! I’d say @ladywiththelamp and @elliewilbury because we like a lot of the same names, and I feel like they’d do good if I left it up to them!

You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the langue this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?
I’d move to Mexico. I don’t know what I’d pick, but at least one name would be [name_f]Mar[/name_f]!

Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?
[name_u]New[/name_u] Zealand so I could use [name_f]Aihe[/name_f].

What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?
Ooh, I’d do [name_f]Vaila[/name_f] [name_f]Juni[/name_f] for [name_f]Vaila[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (Norwegian). Not a huge change, but I’m not sure what else I’d do.

What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three tv shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favourite shows/movies?
For my favorite three shows, I’d do [name_u]Rory[/name_u] ([name_m]Little[/name_m] Lunch), [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] ([name_m]Granite[/name_m] Flats), and… I don’t have a third favorite show I can think of off the top of my head lol.

If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?
I’d pick @acajou’s [name_f]Amparo[/name_f] Meritxell and [name_u]Claude[/name_u] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]!

Tell me about your names in as much or little detail as you want
I love my names so dearly, they really hold a special place in my heart :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

1. What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?
Mostly single names: Robichaux, Zafeiris and [name_m]Cosmas[/name_m] for boys, [name_m]Astrophel[/name_m] [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] as a combo. For girls: [name_f]Astraea[/name_f], [name_f]Flordelis[/name_f] & [name_f]Asterope[/name_f]

2. What combo would you steal from another berry?
Probably @Raven-1013’s [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

3. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?
Definitely boys. [name_f]My[/name_f] list of boys’ names is endless, but I can hardly find any girls’ names I truly love.

4. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?
I tend to like -is and -as endings in names, mostly for boys but also for girls.

5. What is your favourite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?
I don’t know if I have one…

6. What is your aesthetic for names?
Well, I’ve been trying to figure out this whole aesthetic thing for a while now, but it’s still rather vague for me. Maybe I’m too old for this? I think I can come up with an aesthetic for a certain combo I have, but not one in general that suits my style.

7. When you think about names, what do you picture?
It depends on the name.

8. Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the short list?
I did this when I had to name my second son (first child with my SO). I found it incredibly difficult at first. [name_f]My[/name_f] SO didn’t want to use any of the names on my list. We started over with an entire new list, so basically every name on the short list was a name I’d never considered before. And the name we went with in the end ([name_m]Barnabas[/name_m]) was a never I’d never expected to use. And while I still love my old favorites, my entire list and taste in names has changed dramatically since I named my first son.

9. Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!
[name_f]Every[/name_f] name on my list? No, maybe [name_f]Medusa[/name_f]. I don’t think that at this point I’d actually use it, because people have this image of [name_f]Medusa[/name_f] as a gorgon with snakes for hair (which she was in the myth, of course). But [name_f]Medusa[/name_f] is such a great name, it looks elegant and sounds soft and feminine but isn’t frilly at all. And there’s so much more to the story of [name_f]Medusa[/name_f] than just her being an ugly woman.

10. What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?
I quite like the Icelandic/ Old Norse name Sumarliði meaning “summer traveler”.

11. Which names do you feel especially protective over?
[name_f]My[/name_f] children’s names (first and middles), and apart from those: [name_m]Astrophel[/name_m], Ganymedes, [name_m]Laertes[/name_m], [name_f]Flordelis[/name_f], Ísrún & Zenais.

12. Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?
[name_f]Medusa[/name_f], [name_f]Nineveh[/name_f], Aristodemos

13. What are your favourite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family?
[name_u]Bobby[/name_u], Húni, [name_f]Lenya[/name_f] (male), [name_f]Flory[/name_f] & [name_m]Ola[/name_m]

14. You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?
@rosepip because we share quite a few favorites and she just had great taste

15. You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the langue this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?
Estonia. I’d name my children Luule [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f] & [name_u]Konstantin[/name_u] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

16. Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?
Poland, so I could use [name_m]Gerwazy[/name_m]

17. What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?
There aren’t any variations of [name_m]Astrophel[/name_m]. For [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] I’d use [name_m]Joonas[/name_m] or [name_m]Joona[/name_m].

18. What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three tv shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favourite shows/movies?
Last ones I watched: [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] Gereon & [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite shows: [name_m]Anatoly[/name_m] [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] & [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Linda[/name_f].

19. If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?
[name_m]Octavian[/name_m] Seabrook & [name_f]Acadia[/name_f] Seawisp

20. Tell me about your names in as much or little detail as you want
At this point my names feel very personal and dear to me. This is probably a weird thing to say, but I’m gonna say it anyway… I love my two oldest sons’ names, they definitely have significance to me and I don’t regret choosing their names, but somehow they feel less like me, or my own choice, than my twins’ names. Partly because now I care less about what other people will think, partly because I now know better what really matters to me and I’ve tried to honor them in the twins’ names. Like I said, I don’t regret Hjörtur’s or [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m]’ name, I still love those names, but they feel less personal to me, not as close to my heart as [name_m]Leonid[/name_m] Pythagoras or [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] Zakynthos, or some of the names that are now on my list.

What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?
[name_u]Rudy[/name_u], Bluebird, [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]

What combo would you steal from another berry?
@lumosmaxima [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] '[name_u]Eli[/name_u]'eli! :,) so sweet

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?
Mm, boys!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?
Alot of my favourite names have the letters r, and n in them!

What is your favourite combo pattern?
I really like nature middles, so I try incorporate that somehow. Other than that, I dont really pay attention to that sort of thing, lol!

What is your aesthetic for names?
Hmm, im not really sure! I’d say its a bit delicate, natural, wild, and bright? Maybe a bit storybook-ish.
I like to imagine my name’s on a little kid that’s rambunctious and passionate. They have an explorers soul and love to be outdoors. [name_m]Little[/name_m] kids I can read ‘the faraway tree’ to :,)

When you think of names, what do you picture?
I definitely agree with the sentiment that someones name is their ‘first gift’ from their parents. I think thats really sweet! Otherwise, not much really.
Also, I think of how cute that name would be a on a kid in a little sunhat.

Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the short list?
Hmm… Nope. Who knows though, life surprises you!

Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!
[name_u]Fen[/name_u]!! Short yet doesn’t feel insubstantial (in my eyes). Soft and whimsy, I just love her!
[name_u]Fen[/name_u] makes me think of a wild little girl who never sits still. She’s brave and has an explorers soul. She probably believes in goblins and fairies, and likes to set traps to catch the goblins! She’s just so. darn. cute.

What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?
Ahh, I don’t really check meanings all that often! Maybe… [name_u]Eden[/name_u]'s meaning of ‘[name_f]Paradise[/name_f]’, because that’s what she is to me

What names do you feel especially protective over?
Maybe [name_f]Runa[/name_f]? I always get a little shocked when I see her mentioned on the threads, but thrilled nonetheless! <3
Perhaps also [name_u]Eden[/name_u], such an important name to me that really speaks to my soul and everything I am, that I get a little sad when people say they don’t like [name_u]Eden[/name_u].

Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using?
Oh well, I love love love [name_u]Eden[/name_u], but I’m not sure I could see myself using it since it was the name my parents considered for my second sister.
Also, [name_f]Waterlily[/name_f]. I love it so much, but unsure if I’m brave enough…

What are your favourite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family
I love all the nicknames like [name_f]Anoushka[/name_f]/Noushka. [name_u]Love[/name_u] em!
I adore TinTin, as well as [name_m]Kip[/name_m]!
For standalones… [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is my top :sparkling_heart:

You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?
So, I would probably trust most of the berries to pick something beautiful for my child!

To be specific though, if I was in this situation the people I would probably turn to… @acajou, @kasatka, @halinka, @baya44, @katkabet, @rosepip, @sgsg8, @ethelmary, @dogs_books !!
Probably pretty contrasting styles, I wouldn’t mind if they used their names or mine. I know i’d come out with a pretty impeccably named child either way though, thats for sure :heart:

You have to move to a country with the second letter of the country you currently live in, you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, what names do you choose?
Hmm, let’s go with Uruguay!
León & [name_f]Valentina[/name_f].

Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?
Hmm, maybe [name_f]India[/name_f] so I could use [name_f]Priya[/name_f]?

What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?
Gracja (Polish) [name_f]Julienne[/name_f] ([name_u]French[/name_u])
[name_f]Gratia[/name_f] ([name_m]Dutch[/name_m]) [name_f]Ulyana[/name_f] (Ukrainian)
[name_f]Grazia[/name_f] (Italian) [name_f]Julianna[/name_f] (Spanish)
[name_f]Graciela[/name_f] (Spanish) Yulianna (Russian)
Gracília (Portugese) [name_f]Liana[/name_f] (Romanian)

That was lots of fun!!

What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past 3 tv shows/movies you watched? What about only from your 3 favourite shows/movies?

Most recent:
Annihilation - [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_m]Kane[/name_m], [name_f]Anya[/name_f]
Never Have I ever - [name_u]Devi[/name_u], [name_f]Kamala[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
Animal [name_m]Kingdom[/name_m] - [name_m]Renn[/name_m], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]

Top 3:
Ponyo - Sōsuke, Kumiko, [name_m]Fujimoto[/name_m]
[name_m]Righteous[/name_m] Gemstones - [name_u]Eli[/name_u], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]
I can’t think of a third one!

If you had to, what names from the previous posters UC would you pick for your own child?
[name_f]Eurydice[/name_f] Karolína! [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe [name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] [name_f]Salome[/name_f]

Tell me about your names in as much, or as little, detail as you want
I just love how they make me feel, and how they feel like my children!
They’re wild, and bright and full of nature and earthiness. I just love them to bits!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?
Girls, but that means they’re constantly changing, my boys list is very short but very stable

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?
‘ia’ or ‘ie’ endings, [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Callie[/name_f], [name_f]Sosie[/name_f]. Otherwise I like e, r, l and o sounds

What is your favourite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?
[name_u]Nature[/name_u]/word middles! That’s about my only pattern. I like longer 3 syllable names 1 syllables middle, but I also love nickname names

What is your aesthetic for names?
Depends on the name, but I’d like to think light, happy and summery

When you think about names, what do you picture?
Depends on the name

Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the short list?
I’m so scared that I might have to, I get a feeling of dread when I think of a future partner not liking any of my names

Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!
[name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] are least mentioned on here, or [name_u]Koa[/name_u] and [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]

What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] - an honour combo based on meaning. Wanted to honour the song ‘You are my sunshine’ which I wanted to honour a particular relative with

Which names do you feel especially protective over?
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] because of meaning, but also [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]

Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?

You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?
@hannahwren @Momofplenty @VivienaLunelle123, feels like we have lots of overlap in styles

You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the langue this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?
Hmm The Netherlands… [name_f]Lotte[/name_f] or [name_u]Floris[/name_u]

Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?
All of my names work in my country, but I’d say [name_u]Koa[/name_u] would work better in [name_u]New[/name_u] Zealand

What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?
[name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] is a Spanish variant anyway, possibly [name_f]Aurélie[/name_f] [name_u]Sol[/name_u], not sure entirely sure what the variants of [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] are

What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three tv shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favourite shows/movies?
I don’t watch TV :joy:
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]/Rory from [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] from Switched At Birth
Third ermm, The Good [name_u]Doctor[/name_u]? And I can’t think of any names off the top of my head
EDIT: OMG I FORGOT ONE TREE HILL! Definitely Brooke, maybe Sawyer as a middle

If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] or [name_m]Will[/name_m] [name_u]Starling[/name_u] (Also love [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Waterlily[/name_f] if I was braver)

Tell me about your names in as much or little detail as you want
I just like them :joy: no personal associations with any, so they’re all my names. No meanings (except [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]), no stories, just

  1. I’m currently thinking about [name_u]Laurel[/name_u], [name_f]Halcyone[/name_f], [name_u]Caro[/name_u], [name_m]Philemon[/name_m] and [name_m]Nestor[/name_m]

  2. I love @Raven-1013 's [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. I’m really into @gracegillian 's [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] and @may.rose 's [name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] too! I can’t remember who has [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] but I love that so much!

  3. I find girls names sooo much easier to love. Boys names are really difficult for me.

  4. I really gravitate towards names that end in -ine. I also love names that end in -o and I seem to have a thing for names that start with I and M at the moment too.

  5. My syllable patterns are pretty varied but if anything I tend towards two syllable firsts with three syllable middles. Lots of my girls middles end in -ine. I like middles that end in consonants or an -o sound.

  6. I’m not sure how to describe my name aesthetic but I’m aiming for eclectic, bohémien European with a bit of steely glamour. They have to be unusual but accessible.

Here are some photos:

Summary

  1. I’m really not sure, it totally depends on the name. Some evoke images of my strongest association, if I don’t have a strong association then it’s more of a feeling I get rather than a thought.

  2. I can’t see myself scrapping the entire list, but I think I’d definitely narrow it down, add some new ones that are compromises with my partner and probably switch up the middles. I think I’d give real children more than one middle.

  3. Irie! [name_u]Irie[/name_u] gets nowhere near enough love. To me, it’s so perfect. It’s a fresh alternative to [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and means ‘positive and powerful’ which is probably my favourite name meaning EVER.

  4. On that topic, I love [name_u]Irie[/name_u]’s meaning. In terms of combos, I love that [name_f]Clio[/name_f] [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] essentially means ‘glorious blue’ (I have strong sentimental links to the river so it makes me smile). I also like that with [name_f]Suki[/name_f] [name_f]Amoret[/name_f], both names mean ‘love’.

  5. I feel extremely protective over [name_f]Clio[/name_f] because it’s my all-time favourite. I also feel protective over some of my more unusual middles like [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f], [name_f]Philou[/name_f], [name_f]Persis[/name_f], [name_m]Amaury[/name_m] and [name_m]Bardo[/name_m].

  6. In terms of firsts, I probably wouldn’t use [name_u]Pascale[/name_u] or [name_m]Bence[/name_m] just because I love the combos I have for them more than I love the individual name and obviously they’d only be known as their first name. Other than that, I think I’d happily use them all. I’m probably most likely to use [name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Suki[/name_f], [name_u]Irie[/name_u], [name_f]Mona[/name_f], [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], [name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_u]Van[/name_u] or [name_m]Arno[/name_m]

  7. Some of my names are standalone nicknames eg. [name_f]Suki[/name_f]. But I’m not a big fan of nicknames when they are used 100% of the time because imo why not just name your child that? Having a longer name seems pointless to me if they’re never going to be called that. The only nickname I’d possibly use is [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Max[/name_u] but that would be purely informal, I’d still call them [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] most of the time.

  8. I’d let @katinka name my children because I feel like she just knows what she’s doing and would carefully consider my style!

  9. I live in [name_f]England[/name_f] so I guess I’d be moving to The Netherlands. I’m literally planning on moving there for a year anyway haha. I have a couple of [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] names I like but I’d try and smush them into other combos of favourites. I’d maybe go for [name_f]Clio[/name_f] [name_f]Philou[/name_f] & [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_u]Van[/name_u] as names that would work in [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] and [name_f]English[/name_f].

  10. Omg [name_f]France[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] so that I can put the accents on my favourite [name_u]French[/name_u] names and not cause any difficulties on documents etc.

  11. I’m going to skip this question just because my names don’t really have international variants

  12. Oh wow this is so difficult. I’ll use my favourites rather than the ones I last watched. [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] [name_m]Noé[/name_m]’s films have a lot of good names. Maybe I’d go for a [name_f]Sandrine[/name_f], a [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], a [name_m]Felix[/name_m] or a [name_u]Rocco[/name_u].

  13. I already said I wanna steal [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. For a boy it would be [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_u]Julian[/name_u]. If I could mix and match it would be [name_f]Suki[/name_f] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] or [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_u]Claude[/name_u].

  14. I just know instantly when I see a name whether it has potential to feel like ‘me’ or not.

  1. What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?

[name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] are serious contenders to add to my boys’ list right now. I’ve also been thinking a lot about [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] and [name_f]Minna[/name_f] for a girl.

  1. What combo would you steal from another berry?

I think [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Wildrose[/name_f] is a combo I saw somewhere that I love, but I don’t remember where! If it’s yours, well, I love it

  1. Do you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?

Boys. [name_f]My[/name_f] style is (generally) more consistent.

  1. Do you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?

I love A and C names, names heavy on consonants, boys names that end in -an, -en, -ian, and girls’ names that end in -ah, --ia, or -ena.

  1. What is your favourite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?

Two or three syllable first names with a one or two syllable middle seems to be my “sweet spot,” though of course there are notable exceptions. Flow more than rules for me!

  1. What is your aesthetic for names?

Somewhat vintage, somewhat nature-y, somewhat witchy, I’d say. I like to describe my style as “familiar but not overly popular.”

  1. When you think about names, what do you picture?

Honestly it depends on the name— if I know someone with that name I usually picture them, so I tend to want to use names that I don’t know anyone with, or at least that I don’t know anyone WELL with.

  1. Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the short list?

No. I’m pretty solid on what names I think I’d name an actual child. That said, if my partner didn’t like them, I’d consider going back to the drawing board. It’s more important that me AND my co-parent both love the entire name (first, middle, and nickname if applicable).

  1. Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!

[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]! I don’t know why it doesn’t get more love on here. It’s got great nickname potential ([name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_u]Mal[/name_u], [name_m]Colm[/name_m]) and is dignified, classic, handsome and strong. It’s also in that popularity sweet spot of (where I live) recognizable but not too popular. And it’s even Shakespearean!

  1. What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?

I love nature names in general, but [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] stands out as a name I adore primarily for its meaning.

  1. Which names do you feel especially protective over?

[name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f], as those are the potential names I’ve chosen for the kids I probably won’t choose to have.

  1. Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?

Oh, yes. Definitely. [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], [name_f]Marceline[/name_f], [name_u]Sinclair[/name_u], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], and maybe [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], just to name the ones off the top of my head.

  1. What are your favourite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family?

[name_u]Cass[/name_u], [name_u]Jem[/name_u], [name_f]Jen[/name_f], [name_f]Jenny[/name_f], [name_f]Nellie[/name_f], [name_u]Guin[/name_u], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], [name_u]Mal[/name_u], [name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Kitty[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Roxy[/name_f], [name_u]Lex[/name_u], [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_u]Avi[/name_u], [name_u]Cal[/name_u], [name_f]Calla[/name_f], [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_u]Rome[/name_u], [name_u]Remy[/name_u], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Andra[/name_f]

  1. You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?

I don’t know! Tbh I couldn’t choose.

  1. You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the langue this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?

I guess we’re going to Norway? I’d go ahead and choose [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] for a girl and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] for a boy.

  1. Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?

[name_f]Ireland[/name_f], and there’s a lot, but [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]’s high up there so I’ll go with that one.

  1. What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?

[name_m]Caspar[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] “[name_m]Cas[/name_m]”

  1. What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three tv shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favourite shows/movies?

Recent: [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] for a girl, or [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] for a boy

Favorites: [name_f]April[/name_f] [name_f]Angela[/name_f] for a girl, [name_m]Westley[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] “[name_m]Wes[/name_m]” for a boy

  1. If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?

Literally every @leafygreens combo but I really feel [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] [name_u]Nyx[/name_u], it’s absolutely perfect! @rosepip’s [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] is very cool as well.

Boys! By a lot! Girls are so difficult to come up with.

I think so!! I really like the ‘ah’ sound with an ‘a’ or an ‘o,’ and I really like boy’s names ending in ‘n,’ ‘s,’ or ‘r.’ For girls I prefer names ending in the ‘ee’ sound.

It completely depends on the combo, but 4-2-1, 2-3-2, or 2-1 or 3-2, perhaps.

I don’t know that I have a specific one I look for! I think I mostly go for matching color vibes in combos.

Colors! I used to think I didn’t, but then I realized why some combos seem to work and others don’t is because the colors don’t match in the ones that don’t work.

No, but since I don’t think I’m near having children, it’s quite possible that my entire list will be scrapped of my change name preferences by the time I get there.

SYLVESTER!! [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m]!! [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] is such an under appreciated gem. With that funky ‘r’ ending and the nickname [name_m]Sly[/name_m], it’s perfect in every way. You can have the [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] namesake as well, and it’s three syllables so it can easily go with most middles or LNs.

Hmm, I’m not sure! I don’t look at meanings much. Perhaps [name_u]Beckett[/name_u] with “bee cottage?”

[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but that’s only because I see them getting popular and I do not want that!

Tons! So many! [name_f]My[/name_f] “names I’d name my child” list and my “names list” look very different. [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_u]Fox[/name_u], [name_f]Rosenwyn[/name_f] [name_u]Presley[/name_u] [name_u]Nightingale[/name_u], [name_m]Prosper[/name_m] [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m] [name_u]March[/name_u], [name_m]Septimus[/name_m] [name_u]Cato[/name_u] [name_m]Rush[/name_m], [name_u]September[/name_u] [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] [name_u]Clove[/name_u], [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] [name_u]Russet[/name_u] [name_u]September[/name_u], and [name_u]Lotus[/name_u] [name_u]Florian[/name_u] [name_u]March[/name_u] come to mind!

[name_u]Abbey[/name_u] on a boy, for sure! Then [name_m]Sly[/name_m] and of course [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. (None of these are standalones, by the way.)

I think @halinka would do a good job, as would @tallemaja!

Hmm, since it would be [name_u]New[/name_u] Zealand I think my shortlist right now would still be applicable.

[name_f]Russia[/name_f] and [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m], all the way!

Szilvezster [name_u]Yehudah[/name_u]

Hmm, I think [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m], which is boring, but oh well.

Of @rosepip’s names, [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Freyja[/name_f] [name_u]Nyx[/name_u]! Of yours, I’ve always loved your [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Vyvyan[/name_u] [name_m]Louis[/name_m].

[name_f]My[/name_f] names don’t have a super interesting story, to tell you the truth— I mostly just enjoy the sound.

Yes yes yes! I love these threads/questions! Thank you for making another one :grinning:

  1. Delilah has been on my mind a lot lately. I’m struggling to think of a good middle name though. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Della[/name_f], and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] have been some options I’ve liked though. [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is a new boy name I’ve been liking a lot recently! [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Orlando[/name_m], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Dale[/name_u], or [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] I like.

  2. I don’t know if I actually have an answer for this one! Clearly I need to steal some more names.

  3. I totally find girl names easier to come up with. I feel like I like vintage or “grandma” names for girls and I tend to stick to that theme. For boys, I’m a little more al over the place so it’s harder to find more new names that I like.

  4. I have a lot of L names. Some of them start with L and some of them just contain L in them. Which doesn’t work super great because we have a very pronounced L sound in our last name.

  5. I’m not sure I have a favorite. I do enjoy alliteration though. I like having first and middle or first and last names be with the same letter.

  6. I don’t know if I have an aesthetic. I really enjoy the threads that talk about aesthetics for names though. Maybe I should start reading those more often!

  7. I picture what they would be like. What personality do I picture with that name? What would they look like? What would it feel like to meet someone with that name? How would it age?

  8. Absolutely! I’ve worried about this issue before many times. I’ve spent all this time making a great name list and perfecting combinations. When I actually become pregnant and get to name a real life baby, will I even like these names anymore? It’ll be interesting to see!

  9. Pearl! I love it for a middle name and think it fits so well with basically any girl name. It sounds classic and vintage without sounding too grandma like. It works great as a first name too! It doesn’t have that typical A ending that a lot of girl names have. The L ending flows really well with a lot of middle name options. It would age really well. I could see a baby [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], a teenager [name_m]Peal[/name_m], and an adult [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. I just love it!

  10. I don’t go by name meaning a lot. I more look for names that sound good together or names that hold a sentimental meaning to us for one reason or another.

  11. Henrietta [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is not a big fan of it, but it honors two family members that I feel very strongly about. It feels like the perfect name and perfect fit for us! I’ll convince him one day

  12. For sure! There’s quite a few names that I love in theory but couldn’t see myself using it for an actual child. [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] is a super cool name, and might be something I’d use in a middle name spot, but I don’t think I could actually name my daughter that. Same with [name_f]Twyla[/name_f]. I think it’s such a cool name and so pretty, but not sure I’d name my daughter it. I really like the nickname Nory for [name_m]Norman[/name_m], but I don’t know if I could actually name my little boy [name_m]Norman[/name_m].

  13. I like the name [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] for a boy and think [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] would be such a cute nickname! [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] is one of my boy names and O would be a fun name for that. [name_f]My[/name_f] family sometimes uses the first letter of the name as a nickname (D for [name_u]Danny[/name_u]) so I have a few on my list that would work for that J for [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], O for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], P for [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].

  14. Oh gosh so many! @OpheliaFlora you’ve commented on my questions a few times and always have great suggestions so I’d trust you! @Greyblue always has great suggestions too!

Skipping a few because I’m running out of time!

  1. We’ve been watching a lot of Cut Throat Kitchen lately! I would totally use [name_u]Alton[/name_u] ([name_u]Alton[/name_u] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]) for a boy. [name_u]Jett[/name_u] is one of their judges on there and I think that’d be a fun name for a boy too.

This was so fun! I can’t wait for the next one! I love getting to talk about my names and this always teaches me new things about my styles or names too :grinning:

1. What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_u]Claude[/name_u], [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f]

2. What combo would you steal from another berry?
Ooh, so many. Some that come to mind right now are @Kipperbo1’s [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_m]Faraday[/name_m] [name_u]River[/name_u], @sgsg8’s [name_f]Francie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and @hannahwren’s [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_m]Moss[/name_m] and [name_f]Alma[/name_f] [name_u]Willow[/name_u] (I realise we both have [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] in our UC!)

3. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?
Here’s me: [name_f]My[/name_f] girl’s list is twice as long as my boy’s list, but I find boy’s combos wayyy easier.

4. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?
Maybe. I definitely love strong ‘o’ sounds, and double letters also tend to catch my eye. In boy’s names, I really love soft sounds, like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] or [name_m]Albie[/name_m] have.

5. What is your favourite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?
It’s all over the place! One thing I tend to do is pair very long names with very short names, though.

6. What is your aesthetic for names?
I’d describe my aesthetic as vintage, soft, cottagecore, and nature. I don’t mind a little dark academia, either.

7. When you think about names, what do you picture?
Depends! [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite names usually make me think of the outdoors: Lush forests, flower meadows, blue streams, songbirds.

8. Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the short list?
I sometimes imagine my future SO turning down all of my favourite names (:weary:), but as long as that doesn’t happen, no.

9. Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]! I’ve never had the impression he’s much loved on here, but [name_m]Otis[/name_m] has been on my list for ever and I’d love to see him get more attention! He’s so sweet, simple and gives off the best vintage vibes.

10. What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?
I recently pondered the combo [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] [name_m]Worth[/name_m]. It would mean something like ‘lion’s worth’, which I think is absolutely beautiful.

11. Which names do you feel especially protective over?
All of the names in my UC, really  Also [name_f]Anna[/name_f] & [name_f]Julia[/name_f], as those have a special significance to me.

12. Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?
Not really. I prefer to make combos with names that I’d lovingly use! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

13. What are your favourite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family?
Too many standalone nicknames to list here, but a nickname I love for family use is [name_m]Munch[/name_m] ()

14. You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?
All of the people I mentioned above (question 2)!
Also @katkabet, you’d name my children absolutely beautifully.

15. You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the langue this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?
Hmm, maybe Norway. I love so many Nordic names!

16. Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?
Finland, so I could use [name_m]Taavi[/name_m]. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

17. What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?
That’s complicated, as literally every one of my combos includes a name without a real international variant :woman_shrugging:

18. What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three tv shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favourite shows/movies?
Last three movies — [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] & [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
Favourite movies — [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] & [name_u]Laurie[/name_u]

19. If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?
Your [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] & [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]!

20. Tell me about your names in as much or little detail as you want
[name_f]My[/name_f] names are those that I see with the most warmth, those I truly adore, those that feel fulfilling to me. They definitely mean a lot. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hmm…

  1. Currently I am loving [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f]/Clara [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f] I’m not sure which ‘[name_f]Rose[/name_f]’ variant is my favourite then my other combination that I’m obsessed with is [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_f]Effie[/name_f]! For boys [name_m]Abel[/name_m] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]

  2. There are too many combinations from the berries that make me swoon!

  3. Girls because I love so many girl names

  4. I like names with a prominent ‘a’ and ‘l’ sound for probably why my daughter is [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] that a & l sound is very strong. I also love [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] & [name_m]Abel[/name_m].

  5. I’m not sure in relation to this but my daughters name has a very strong l sound throughout [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and I love her name.

  6. cottage core/nature/romantic/biblical for boys

  7. Normally with my combinations I have a very cottage core romantic imagery of the countryside, apple picking and horses.

  8. I named my daughter [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] this was not a name I even considered when I was contemplating having children. If I was to tell my past self that my first born daughter will be [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] I wouldn’t have believed them!

  9. Hazel [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] ~ my family do not like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] or [name_u]June[/name_u] so this name gets a lot of hate!

  10. Lilia [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as it’s my daughters name [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] means lily which is one of my favourite flowers, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ‘my G-d is my oath’ which is very meaningful to me as someone who has faith in G-d and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] means ‘light; beautiful fairy’ and she is my light.

  11. my daughters name!

  12. Seraphina [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Edith[/name_f]

  13. Effie I absolutely love it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

  14. hmm I think @elanorelle @JacquelineWinnie and @kachenka i mean I’m sure there’s tons of people but those three really stick in my mind with having names I love.

  15. So Norway [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m] & [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Maja[/name_f]

  16. A Spain so I can use [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] something like [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] [name_f]Alma[/name_f] or [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] would be so pretty I love [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] but I don’t think it would work if Spanish isn’t your native language. Similarly with [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] I love the name but I don’t know if someone who’s native language is [name_f]English[/name_f] can use [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]?

  17. I’m not sure :woman_shrugging:t3::woman_shrugging:t3: [name_f]My[/name_f] name is pretty international so I think it would be the same

  18. So I’ve been binge watching One Tree [name_m]Hill[/name_m] so maybe [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]

  19. Albie [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] & [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

  20. I think with my girls they are very cottage core, romantic and ultra feminine choices. A lot of the names are classics as well with the middle names being family names. I think using family names it’s definitely the way forward and important. I also love nature names I especially love floral names! With my boys again there are some cottage core choices with nature connections like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_u]Forest[/name_u] & [name_u]River[/name_u]. I also am a massive fan of biblical names for boys I’ve been loving [name_m]Abel[/name_m] of recent! Again middle names are predominantly honour/family names.

thank you to @Raven-1013 @futuremama and @planetnames for tagging me

  1. What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?

Lately I’ve been dreaming about [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: For boys I’ve been thinking about the combo [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] [name_u]Hollis[/name_u].

  1. What combo would you steal from another berry?

@planetnames I love your [name_m]Albie[/name_m] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]!

and

@Raven-1013 [name_u]Asa[/name_u] [name_u]Hummingbird[/name_u] :heart_eyes:

  1. Do you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?

I have my moments with both. I love whimsical names, though, so usually girls!

  1. Do you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?

Yes! I love the long I sound in [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. And I love love O’s ~! [name_u]Oliver[/name_u], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_u]Milo[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], any name with an O at the end or beginning is one I love :two_hearts:

  1. What is your favourite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?

All mine are different, but I really like short firsts with long middles lately, and I always try to have the names have a different numbers of syllables.

  1. What is your aesthetic for names?

I love anything whimsical, vintage and bohemian. I’m also a big fan of literary and British names!

  1. When you think about names, what do you picture?

Little fairies running through the woods, beautiful mountains over looking large grassy plains, and large colorful flower gardens.

  1. Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the short list?

I could never scrap my whole list! I love them way too much!

  1. Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!

Willa. Simple, sweet and strong. This is the name that if I had a real baby today I would choose 1,000 times. She has that beautiful “la” ending that sounds like you’re singing when you call out her name. It’s whimsical, literary and feminist, and a great alternative to names like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] in my opinion.

  1. What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?

Eleanor. “[name_u]Bright[/name_u], shining one” How sweet

  1. Which names do you feel especially protective over?

Olive and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I’ve had them the longest, and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] was my great gran’s name.

  1. Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?

Juniper [name_f]Peach[/name_f].

  1. What are your favourite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family?

I love the nickname [name_u]Cricket[/name_u], I can see myself calling my daughter that no matter what her name is. For boys I love [name_u]Pip[/name_u], it’s just so cute ~!

  1. You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?

@futuremama @planetnames and @Raven-1013

you would probably pick a name better than I ever could!

  1. You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the langue this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?

Oo Mexico. A boy would be [name_m]Santiago[/name_m], called [name_m]Santi[/name_m] ~! Maybe [name_f]Luna[/name_f] or [name_u]Vida[/name_u] for a girl.

  1. Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?

Ireland. [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] ~! I love her and no one could pronounce her here.

  1. What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?

Well, my name is [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], which is the Hebrew version of [name_f]Ann[/name_f]. Other versions of [name_f]Ann[/name_f] are [name_u]Anne[/name_u], [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] and [name_f]Anais[/name_f]! All of which I LOVE :cupid:

  1. What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three tv shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favourite shows/movies?

Recent Shows: [name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Franny[/name_f], and [name_m]Ford[/name_m]

Favorite Movies: [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], [name_u]Oliver[/name_u], and [name_u]Milo[/name_u]

  1. If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?

I’m going to use @planetnames because she tagged me :relaxed:

Definitely [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] for a boy (great minds ) and probably [name_f]Alma[/name_f] [name_f]Honey[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

  1. Tell me about your names in as much or little detail as you want

I put a lot of effort into choosing my names. They all have meaning in some form, as well. that’s pretty much it!

1. What name/combo are you currently considering or thinking about?
[name_f]Lucilla[/name_f] is on my mind and I hope to find a place for her in my UC. She might be just a tad too dramatic, though.

2. What combo would you steal from another berry?
After seeing @flowellagrace’s UC this morning, I would love if I had come up with [name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]!

3. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find girls’ or boys’ names easier to come up with?
Girls, 100%.

4. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find yourself gravitating towards certain sounds in names?
I’ve realized that a lot of my names have a strong “L” sound in them, and many of them end in the “ee” sound as well.

5. What is your favourite combo pattern (syllables, emphasis, endings)?
I honestly have no idea. A lot of mine are four/five/six syllables.

6. What is your aesthetic for names?
Vintage. I don’t really know all the different kinds of aesthetics and all that, but I know I like vintage/classic/old-fashioned names.

7. When you think about names, what do you picture?
Really interesting question! I usually picture out the names written down, sometimes in color, sometimes not, sometimes in cursive, sometimes not. It’s all really literal.

8. Could you see yourself scrapping your whole list once you have to name an actual child? For those of you that already have children, were there any names that you had never considered before that made it onto the short list?
I could not see myself scrapping my whole list. Some combos? Maybe. But not the whole list.

9. Sell me a name of yours that gets too little love!
[name_f]Peggy[/name_f]! An amazing, awesome, [insert every single good thing I have to say about [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] here] name. An old fashioned nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], it would work as an honor for many names. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], or as an honor for a person with another one of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]'s countless nicknames. I fell in love with it after watching [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m], so it’s got an association there for any history or musical theater needs. There’s also [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] for [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] fans! I know it might not be as attractive sounding as some of the other nicknames for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but it has so much more spirit than all the others do.

10. What is your favourite name meaning/combo meaning?
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] means ‘beloved moon,’ and I just think that’s adorable. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

11. Which names do you feel especially protective over?
Any name on my list, but especially the unappreciated ones like [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] and [name_f]Bridie[/name_f].

12. Are there any names on your list that you adore but don’t actually see yourself using (not because you can’t but because, as bold as you feel now, you don’t think you’ll be as bold naming an actual child)?
I don’t think I’d ever use [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. I’d honestly be more likely to use [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].

13. What are your favourite nicknames? Both standalone and ones you would only use as nicknames or/and within the family?
[name_f]My[/name_f] second favorite girl’s name is [name_f]Polly[/name_f], and I would use that as a full name. Honestly, I think most nicknames work as full names, as long as they have some sort of history being used.

14. You have to name your children but your mind goes blank - which berries are allowed to name your children (with their names or their knowledge of your names) and why?
@katkabet? I know she just has the most amazing taste in names!

15. You move to a country whose name starts with the second letter of the country you currently live in (you can choose the language this applies to); you plan on raising your children there and want to choose names that fit in, which names do you choose?
I would move to Mexico, since I have a pretty good knowledge of Spanish names. I’d probably do [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Valentin[/name_m] “[name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]” for boys, and [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] [name_f]Luz[/name_f] “[name_f]Kitty[/name_f]” for girls.

16. Which country would you want to live in only so you could use a favourite name that doesn’t work where you live? What’s the name?
I (somewhat sadly) don’t have much knowledge of international names. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are Spanish, and I would feel comfortable using them where I am.

17. What would your own name or your favourite combo look like if you had to use international variations of each name?
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] would be [name_u]Maria[/name_u] [name_f]Diana[/name_f], probably. (I’d just call her [name_f]Polly[/name_f] though, and there’d be no difference.)

18. What names would you pick if you could only use the names of main characters that appeared in the past three TV shows/movies you watched (more than one episode of)? What about only from your three favourite shows/movies?
I feel so grateful the last TV show I watched was Pride and Prejudice!! :joy: [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] 100%, [name_u]Maria[/name_u] (prn like [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]), [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] (b), [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] “[name_f]Kitty[/name_f]”, [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] “[name_f]Polly[/name_f]” (not the nickname of the character but still by go to nickname), [name_f]Louisa[/name_f],… honestly the list just goes on and on. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite TV show is Stranger Things, and I’d probably use [name_f]Jane[/name_f] ([name_u]Eleven[/name_u]'s “real” name).

19. 1. If you had to, what names from the previous poster’s UC (or mine if they don’t have one) would you pick for your own child?
@hannahwren, you have amazing names!! I’d pick [name_u]Julian[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] or [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] for boys, and [name_f]Sosie[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] for girls.

20. Tell me about your names in as much or little detail as you want
I love them so much. (This is probably the most amazing description of names you’ll ever come across . But it’s true! I do love them! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: )
