Help! I have a very picky husband and we have finally decided on a name we both agree on: [name_m]Frank[/name_m]. I really want to use my mother’s maiden name as his middle name, [name_u]Alwin[/name_u]. However his initials would then be FAK. Considering how close this is to some questionable language I want your opinion if I should find a new name or just let it go. If you think a new name, what would you suggest for a brother to [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]? (Unfortunately [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is off the table because we have a few in the family already) Thanks so much!!
I don’t think it’s that big of a problem! It’s not the most ideal, but I don’t think initials are much of an issue, unless it’s something very blatant, like if you selected a middle name that started with U. FAK aren’t the BEST initials, but if you love the names, then I don’t think it’s a problem!
I don’t think the FAK initials will be too much of an issue. Chances are, more often that not, just the first and last initial will be used. If you think it’ll be an issue, though, here are some classic names I think will go with Harriet: Leo, Barnaby, Theodore, Nathaniel. I was also going to suggest Felix, but I realize that would leave you in the same predicament!
Haha thank you!! Good points. And I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] calvin. That’s first on my list so maybe I can persuade hubby
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is gorgeous. Nice flow. Thanks for the reassurance on the initials though if we go with [name_m]Frank[/name_m]… or [name_m]Felix[/name_m]
I love [name_m]Frank[/name_m] with [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], it’s such a great name! The middle initial really won’t be used much, and to me it seems closer to ‘fake’ than anything else - which isn’t nearly as bad and doesn’t seem like it should be an issue.
I think its fine. I know a few people with much more questionable initials, and its never mentioned. One of them uses both their first and middle names all the time as well, so everybody knows her initials.
I don’t think it’s a big deal, but I think [name_u]Alwin[/name_u] is phenomenal. I would use [name_u]Alwin[/name_u] [name_m]Frank[/name_m].
The initials FAK are not ideal, but are not a deal breaker.
I think it’s totally fine. If his middle name began with a U, you might wish to rethink it, but I see no problem here. And I say that as someone who professionally deals with monograms every day (stationery). It’s worth mentioning that some monograms go first middle last and some go first last middle. So you have the option.
Agree with other posters, not ideal but also not that big a problem. If it does bother you, an option would be to use a second middle name to break up the F.A.K, for example [name_m]Frank[/name_m] [name_u]Alwin[/name_u] Methuselah (OK, I was just grasping for a name that kinda went! Although it actually is kinda awesome . . . ). Personally, as @boyandgirl said, [name_u]Alwin[/name_u] [name_m]Frank[/name_m] seems to flow better, but I know that I wouldn’t be too keen on swapping the first and second names around in my combos.
I think it’s fine!
