So we are due any day now with our third baby, a daughter after two boys.
We had landed on the name [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] for her.
Everyone we tell her name to says “like [name_f]Briar[/name_f] patch?” With a grimace. Is [name_f]Briar[/name_f] that bad?!
My husband’s name is [name_u]Sterling[/name_u]… As in silver… It really isn’t that big of a deal. I guess my point is, do you love [name_f]Briar[/name_f] or hate it?
Our last name starts with an A so we plan on nick naming her [name_f]Bea[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Briar[/name_f], and to me the main connotation is [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] from Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty.” My main concerns would be logistical, like how the double “R” is difficult for some people to pronounce, or how it could easily get misread as [name_m]Brian[/name_m].
I don’t understand the appeal of the name [name_f]Briar[/name_f]. Walk through a thick briar patch in shorts. If you still love the name [name_f]Briar[/name_f] after that I admire your strength.
I think [name_f]Briar[/name_f] is beautiful! It’s a rare botanical name for girls which isn’t super cute and girly - I find it refreshing. [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is stunning and [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is a lovely nickname. I say go for it!
I love [name_f]Briar[/name_f]! I say use it and my advice is not to discuss or ask for advice of friends and family, as everyone has their own likes/dislikes, and sometimes their negative reactions can cause us to second guess our choices, and leave a name we love behind. I would choose the opinions of NB posters as they are usually name nerds and offer unbiased opinions.
Go for it! Use the name you like. I think [name_f]Briar[/name_f] is a really cute name. I know of 3 friends that changed the name they had chosen to something else because people said something mean about it and each one them still wishes they named their baby the original name they chose. Also [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is a really cute nickname! The people who don’t like [name_f]Briar[/name_f] have another name to call her if that is what you’re going to call her the majority of the time anyway.
The name [name_f]Briar[/name_f] has really grown on me over time and now I think it’s beautiful! Sounds like a cute, spunky little girl to me and with 2 older brothers I could definitely see this fitting. Stick to your first choice! Congratulations!
I think [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is a beautiful name. And if you will be calling her [name_f]Bea[/name_f], the problem kind of goes away.
[name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is really cute! I typically prefer [name_f]Bryony[/name_f], but [name_f]Briar[/name_f] goes much better with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and has all the qualities I like in [name_f]Bryony[/name_f].
