Opinion on Daniel?

What is your opinions on this classic name? What kind of person do you think of when you hear this name?

[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] sounds kind of dated to me. Not a lot, but I feel like I only see it on people born 2000 and back. It’s a very nice guy name to me, like [name_m]Ben[/name_m]/[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. Makes me think of the stereotypical good guy.

I like it. It fits in with other classic names like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] would have lots of friends, dress in a classic fashion and be well behaved [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I agree with @futuremama. A lot of my friends growing up (I was born in the mid 90s) are [name_m]Daniels[/name_m], either going by [name_m]Dan[/name_m], [name_u]Danny[/name_u] or just [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. I know a hell of a load of them from the ages of 16-40. A LOT. It’s a nice name but it bores me now because I have heard of it so much.

In all honesty, I can’t picture a [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] because I know so many who are all so different. I think it’s wearable by anyone.

[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is nice. I love the Biblical story of [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. I thinks it’s a warm comforting name. Since it’s classic/traditional, it will not get a lot of “wow” reactions. But neither do other classics like [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] etc.

[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is my favourite classic boys name. It has a lovely soft sound, sweet nicknames, and lots of positive associations (for me at least). I agree with pps that it’s a classic good guy name, and I always imagine a [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] to be sensitive and funny.

I’m pro-[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. It’s a true classic. There are a lot of GenX [name_m]Daniels[/name_m] but my grandfather (born in the 19-teens) was also a [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. I think it has a really nice sound and seems fresher if the kid goes by [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] rather than by [name_m]Dan[/name_m] or [name_u]Danny[/name_u].

I agree that [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is a classic. It’s a handsome name I can imagine on any type of man.

Probably because he’s my brother, [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is one of my favourites (although I can’t stand the nicknames [name_m]Dan[/name_m] or [name_u]Danny[/name_u]). For me, [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] represents strength and power and someone with a good heart.

I feel like its one of those names that can never be out of fashion as much as it can never be a trendy name. It’s a reliable, sturdy name with a classical quality, like [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. I much prefer the name in full, without any nickname. [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] feels classic, [name_m]Dan[/name_m] or [name_u]Danny[/name_u] sounds dated.

I don’t like it, but mainly because I have negative associations with the nicknames [name_m]Dan[/name_m] and [name_u]Danny[/name_u], and almost all the [name_m]Daniels[/name_m] I know go by one of those nicknames. I only ever knew one [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] who didn’t use a nickname, but even then several of our colleagues would still shorten his name to [name_m]Dan[/name_m] despite being corrected more than once, so I feel like the nicknames are inevitable.

For boys, there are still a lot of these classic names sitting at the top of the charts, and many of them have this same problem of inevitable shortening. But for all them, I can think of at least one nickname I find tolerable. I can’t do that with [name_m]Daniel[/name_m].

I love it because it’s simple and clean like all names should be!
