Opinion on invented name

I love the nickname “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” but dislike most names that will get me there. I have been looking at the name [name_f]Geneva[/name_f] but I dislike the possible “[name_f]Gen[/name_f]” NN I love the NN “[name_f]Gem[/name_f]” so what do you think of Gemeva? Is it nonsensical? I live in the Southern hemisphere and have never heard of a [name_f]Geneva[/name_f] so I do not think it is possible for people to think it is [name_f]Geneva[/name_f].

I am aware of the Swiss city [name_f]Geneva[/name_f].

So tell me yes or no? Why and If not name suggestions to get “[name_f]Eve[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]”

[i]Sorry, I don’t like Gemeva. If i heard it, I would think that they didnt know to spell [name_f]Geneva[/name_f] right.

Some suggestions with [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a nickname:

[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Evanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Evadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f][/i]

I am not a fan of Gemeva, no offense.

[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] could be shortened to jem/ gem.

[name_f]Neva[/name_f] or [name_f]Neve[/name_f] = evie/eve

[name_f]Beverly[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u], [name_u]Ever[/name_u], [name_f]Every[/name_f], [name_f]Severine[/name_f], Evabel, [name_f]Evrose[/name_f], Evana, [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_f]Reverie[/name_f], [name_f]Eviana[/name_f], Evienne, [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]

Why not just name her [name_f]Evie[/name_f]?

Oh, no. Sorry, but it’s bad.

No, no, no to Gemeva. If you like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] so bad, just go with [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. What names do you not like that get you to [name_f]Evie[/name_f]? Because [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] seem like obvious choices. You said above that you like the name Gemeva because you like the nickname [name_f]Gem[/name_f]…Sorry, don’t mean to pick this apart, but what nickname would you be using? [name_f]Gem[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. Because if you are naming a daughter Gemeva to get the “-eva” end, but plan on calling her [name_f]Gem[/name_f], then look into other [name_f]Gem[/name_f] names ([name_f]Gemma[/name_f], for example is gorgeous).

Sorry, but no. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you don’t know anyone with the name [name_f]Geneva[/name_f], I still think most people would mix it up, and your daughter would be constantly having to correct everyone’s spelling and pronunciation.

I really like the suggestion of [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] as a creative and southern-sounding way to get to [name_f]Gem[/name_f].

I’m not a fan either. I personally had a hard time pronouncing it, granted it could be because of my accent and where I grew up but I’m sure someone else might have a hard time pronouncing it. She may have to correct people constantly. I think [name_f]Geneva[/name_f] is a beautiful name and you still can use [name_f]Evie[/name_f]!

I don’t think it’s that bad. It sounds like a smoosh of [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f].

Why not name her [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]?

Great suggestions! I like all these.

Gemeva is not my favorite either… It looks like you misspelled it by accident. As for liking both [name_f]Gem[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f], your daughter would probably only go by one or the other so you could save one for a next baby maybe?

Possibilities for [name_f]Gem[/name_f]:
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemina[/name_f]

For [name_f]Evie[/name_f]:
[name_f]Evelin[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Ever[/name_u]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
Evaluna
[name_f]Ivana[/name_f]

While I am all for unique names, Gemeva is a no.

I agree that Gemeva is a no. I like the suggestions that you could do just plain [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Gemma[/name_f].

I’m particularly partial to [name_u]Everly[/name_u] shortened to [name_f]Evie[/name_f].

Thank you.
I believe I had rose coloured glasses on. I liked it due to the two nicknames built I knew it was a nonsensical name. It didn’t roll too well off the tongue.

[name_f]Reverie[/name_f] is pretty
Thank you.

If you go with [name_f]Geneva[/name_f], you could call her Neeve or Nevie. She wouldn’t have to go by [name_f]Gen[/name_f]. I actually think the stronger syllable is the “nev” part

I also love the recommendation of [name_f]Reverie[/name_f].

Gemeva isn’t good, just looks misspelled and uneducated. Also runs the risk of sounding like Jimeva

Nooooppe, sorry.

Okay, I may be saying this wrong… I’m saying it as “[name_f]GEN[/name_f]-ev-[name_m]Ah[/name_m]” (bad at phonetics, but it’s a strong [name_f]Gen[/name_f] sound at the start)

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it?
[name_m]Will[/name_m] have to look it up on pronunciation sites.

I pronounce it juh - NEE - vuh, but I actually like your pronunciation more.
