Opinion on Luna?

I love it honestly, despite many people telling me its often used for a pet name. My only problem is it’s too short? Is there any longer name variant for luna?

[name_f]Lumina[/name_f] might be longer version
Or [name_f]Eluned[/name_f], but that one is pronounced more [name_f]Elined[/name_f], its name [name_f]Lynette[/name_f] derives from, or so I heard.
Also [name_f]Altalune[/name_f].
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is dreamy and beautiful

If you love it, just use it! It’s not too short. It’s two syllables like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and short is often very chic.

Here are some possible names to shorten to [name_f]Luna[/name_f], if you’re really unsure:

[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Luciana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Luanne[/name_f]
Louenn
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (with N middle or N heavy middle - eg [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Nadine[/name_f])
Louise/ [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] (as above)
Adalune
Stellalune
[name_f]Evaluna[/name_f]
[name_f]Altaluna[/name_f]
[name_f]Selene[/name_f] (meaning [name_f]Moon[/name_f])

I think [name_f]Luna[/name] is lovely and definitely doesn’t strike me as a pet name (it’s given to thousands of human babies every year). I think it’s a nice length (biased as someone who goes by [name_f]Thea[/name]!), but if you want some long forms, I think pretty much any [name_f]Lou[/name]- name could work, especially with an ‘N’ middle name. I especially like the previous suggestion of [name_f]Lucinda[/name].

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is pretty and timeless (obviously it’s quite recent in terms of actual usage on humans, but as a Latin word it’s ancient, and what’s more timeless than the moon?!). It has started to feel a little overused to me in the UK (not sure where you are) as it’s continuing to be popular on both kids and pets.

[name_f]Lunaria[/name_f], [name_f]Adaluna[/name_f], and [name_f]Calluna[/name_f] would be my recommendations for a long name (I adore [name_f]Altalune[/name_f] too, but prefer her as a middle)

I love Lunneth / [name_f]Lunette[/name_f] nn [name_f]Luna[/name_f]!

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is very pretty. Honestly most of the common dog names I hear now are also popular baby names (Bella, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Ollie[/name_m], etc), so I would disregard those comments.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is a very pretty name! I have honestly never heard it on a pet but heard it on a few little girls so it seems distinctly “human” to me!

I love it very much. I get annoyed when people call it pet name lol. It’s wonderful on human and very, very pretty. It’s short for my usual taste too, but for some reason I don’t care about longer version. Personally I’d just pair it with longer middles.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is lovely! It does read as somewhat of a pet name to me, but I don’t think that takes anything away from its appeal, it’s still equally wonderful for a human. Seconding [name_f]Calluna[/name_f], [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lunaria[/name_f] for a longer name!

Funnily enough tomorrow I’m picking up my rescue dog named [name_f]Luna[/name_f]! I think the name is such a lovely choice and definitely isn’t exclusively a dog name (I know children and pets named [name_f]Luna[/name_f]) so if it was me I would use just [name_f]Luna[/name_f] she’s definitely substantial enough.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is lovely, for a pet or a baby! It’s popular for both for a reason!

I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is nice. It is commonly used for cats and dogs, but its also relatively common/familiar on children as well so i think its perfectly fine! I don’t think it needs a longer version / it isn’t too short but if you want something longer, i second [name_f]Lunette[/name_f], [name_f]Lunaria[/name_f] or [name_f]Calluna[/name_f] could work well! . Or I don’t think I’ve seen anyone say [name_f]Lunella[/name_f] or [name_f]Lunara[/name_f] yet.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] is a lovely name with a lovely meaning! It has become quite popular, and I’ve never fully bought in, but she is beautiful and 100% usable on its own. You’ve gotten a lot of great ideas, and I just wanted to echo [name_f]Lunaria[/name_f] which I’ve been fond of lately—she’s so full of twinkly light, which I love, and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] 100% works as a nn for her! All the best!

I like [name_f]Luna[/name_f] but I also feel like it seems incomplete to me. Which is interesting because I typically love short names but just something about [name_f]Luna[/name_f] makes me feel like it needs to be a double barrel. I have [name_f]Adaluna[/name_f], [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f], Ottaluna, and Callaluna on my list personally.

[name_f]Pretty[/name_f]!
[name_f]Lunette[/name_f]?
