I’ve read this name short ago in a book, and I don’t know what to think about. I kinda like how it sounds, and the nickname Damy is quite nice. On the other hand, it has something that disturbes me and I don’t know what it is.
Besides, what middle name would you pair with [name_m]Damien[/name_m]? So far I just can think in [name_m]Damien[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Damien[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].
I love the name [name_m]Damien[/name_m]! I picture it on a very masculine and ruggedly handsome man.
However, at some point a movie was made in which the character, [name_m]Damien[/name_m], was either the spawn of Satans or possessed by demons.
The movie was rather dark from what I understand and most people who have seen it think of the name [name_m]Damien[/name_m] as an unlucky name, like the little baby with that name will really be a handful.
Regardless, I still love the name, and
[name_m]Damien[/name_m] is a great name. For me, [name_m]Damien[/name_m] is dark, it sounds like the name of a demon with terrible intentions but a booming personality. I love it.
I prefer the spelling [name_m]Damian[/name_m], but either way I love it! [name_m]Damien[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is very handsome, [name_m]Damien[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is spunky and less expected.
I think that the main reason so many people don’t like this name is because of the character, which is fairly silly to me. A million people in the world could share the same name, but that names gets shirked because of one association. Lol. Sorry, it’s just a bit of a pet peeve of mine, lately. Anyhow, I like [name_m]Damien[/name_m]! It’s very underused, I feel, and I think it works for all ages. I think [name_m]Damien[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] rhymes a little bit, but not that badly. I really like [name_m]Damien[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! Another potential alternative to [name_m]Damien[/name_m] could be [name_m]Damon[/name_m] or [name_m]Dominic[/name_m].
I love the name [name_m]Damien[/name_m]/[name_m]Damian[/name_m]! The sound has always attracted me, and I love the nickname [name_u]Day[/name_u]. What bothers me is that some insist [name_m]Damien[/name_m] is somehow a demonic name because of The Omen, in spite of its Greek origin meaning “to tame.” Personally, I feel that [name_m]Damon[/name_m] is less usable in that regard. However, [name_m]Damien[/name_m] seems fairly popular in the States, so the movie must not deter its use. Middles:
I really like [name_m]Damien[/name_m]. I’ve heard Damo as a nickname but I like [name_m]Damien[/name_m] in full. It sounds tall, dark and distinguished. Could be artsy, sporty or ceo.
I like it, and while some will make the ‘demonic’ connection it is also a saints name which to me kind of balances out. Not really a fan of the nicknames though.
I, personally, do NOT like [name_m]Damien[/name_m]. Whenever I hear it I think of the evil little boy from the movie The Omen (which I think is a book, too.) I went to school with a guy named [name_m]Damien[/name_m]. He wasn’t evil, lol. In fact, he was a really quiet, nice guy, but I always wondered why his parents named him that, especially since he was born just a few years after The Omen came out in theaters.
I really like it. Although I’ve never heard of that movie, and the only Damian I’ve known was one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.
It’s such an old movie, I wouldn’t worry much about the association. I named my DD Rosemary and I worried about the Rosemary’s Baby connection, but no one has brought it up even once.
