Howard - Howie, Harry
Robert - Robbie, Bobby, Rob, Bob, Bert, Bertie
Leonard - Lenny, Leo, Len
Tristan - Tris, Tan, Tanny
I personally wouldn’t use a nickname for Leonard or Tristan, but here are my ideas!

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] names, all very solid. I like [name_u]Howard[/name_u] & [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] best. Then [name_m]Leonard[/name_m]. [name_u]Robert[/name_u] I’m the least keen on but I have no particular reason, it’s still a nice classic name! (I prefer Robin.)

They aren’t really my style so I wouldn’t use them personally, but they’re all good names! I like [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] the best.

Here are my thoughts-
Howard-It’s not my cup of tea, but I like it in theory. It’s old fashioned & different but well known. I just feel like it sounds a bit frumpy somehow. But it’s not awful & would be an interesting choice. I like the nns [name_m]Hal[/name_m] or [name_u]Harry[/name_u]. [name_m]Ward[/name_m] & [name_m]Howie[/name_m] are fairly common choices. Maybe you could even do [name_m]Hank[/name_m] as a stretch? I like [name_m]Hank[/name_m]!
Robert-I don’t know. I also feel like it’s kind of meh. But it’s my nephew’s name, & it’s actually kind of different for a kid. It’s a solid classic name. The obvious nns are [name_m]Rob[/name_m], [name_u]Robbie[/name_u], [name_m]Bob[/name_m], [name_u]Bobby[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Robbie[/name_u] most. There’s also [name_u]Bertie[/name_u], which is sort of cute. Could you do [name_u]Robert[/name_u] nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]? That’d be fun.
Leonard-This is absolutely one of those names that I want to like but just feel like it’s a teeny bit too geeky. And I like geeky names. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandpa was [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Leonard[/name_m], so another reason that I want to love it. I’ve totally come around to [name_m]Albert[/name_m] at least! Anyway, I like the nn [name_u]Leo[/name_u] for [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] way more than [name_u]Lenny[/name_u]. But I also like the nn [name_m]Lad[/name_m]. That’s cute, huh? Ooh, you could also do [name_u]Louie[/name_u]. [name_u]Louie[/name_u] is adorable.
Tristan-This is really handsome. It feels romantic, but also a bit outdoorsy & just like a really chill guy. I really can never think of a good nn for this. I don’t like [name_u]Tris[/name_u] much…I like the suggestion of [name_m]Ty[/name_m], but it’s kind of a stretch.

[name_u]Howard[/name_u] - I would not use this name personally as I have a bad association with the name. And I feel like it is a name that should be left in the past and forgotten about. Seems to much like a old mans name
[name_u]Robert[/name_u] - the whole [name_m]Bob[/name_m] situation is over used. Then you have all of the [name_m]Bob[/name_m] jokes and what not. For example “my name’s Bob” etc…
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m] - all I can think about is the [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] Snart from the tv show “the flash” and not really feeling the name
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] - my bias shows in this name as one of my best friends growing up was named [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. And I currently have a friend named [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. I love this name

Leonard - i love Leo, it’s probably my biggest gp bc i don’t tend to like trendy/common names, but i guess Leo has a special place in my heart, just like Eric. i do prefer another name for the nn Leo tho, not a big fan of Leonard. my fav for Leo is Leon (plus it’s an honor name for me) and i also love those more unique like Leomaris, Leomar, Leonid, Leonidas
Tristan - i kinda like this one, it’s more unique. i don’t like that it reminds me of Cristian tho, bc it’s not a name i like. but Tristan is kinda sweet and i personally wouldn’t use any nn
Robert - classic names are not my style, i prefer modern and unique names. also bc my main language is spanish and all the classic names sound worse here imo hahah. i do like the association to Robert Plant tho hahah and the nn Robbie is cute
Howard - not my cup of tea, i don’t tend to like surname names, plus it reminds me of Howard Stern, who i hate 
but i think the nn Howie is cute!
