What are your thoughts on the name [name]Deryn[/name] [name]Lee[/name] for a little girl? Too manly or just right? I’d appreciate your input! Thanks!
I’m sorry, but I don’t like it. Although I do like the unique spelling, I think [name]Deryn[/name] is too masculine for a little girl. If you are absoultely set on it though, I would pair it with a more girly middle name. [name]Just[/name] my opinion
Strongly dislike the name. It doesn’t sound feminine to me either.
[name]Do[/name] not like it, it looks like a made up name and an attempt at feminizing [name]Darren[/name], sorry.
It doesn’t sound feminine to me, to be honest I would have thought it was for a boy if you haven’t said otherwise. If you’re completely in love with the first name, go for a more feminine middle, I like the nn [name]Derry[/name], and that seems more feminine to me
I usually like unisex names, but this sounds way too masculine for a little girl. I do like the name [name]Delaney[/name], though, and that’s kind of close to [name]Daryn[/name].
love,
[name]Ivy[/name]
No, too masculine and even on a boy, kind of a tacky name, [name]IMO[/name]. (Sorry for the brutal honesty!)
I recognized [name]Deryn[/name] as being a Welsh girls’ name, like Aderyn, but it took me a moment. I think that most people will just read it as a creative spelling of [name]Darren[/name], unfortunately. You’ll know that it’s legitimate, so that misconception may or may not bother you, but I do think that’s something you’re going to have to deal with if you use the name.
I like the flow of the combination. I like [name]Lee[/name] on a girl, but if you’re concerned about the name sounding too masculine changing the middle may be worthwhile. Maybe [name]Deryn[/name] [name]Liv[/name] or [name]Deryn[/name] [name]Lily[/name]?
I automatically thought boy, maybe a more feminine middle name? Also [name]Deryn[/name] is really close to the boy name [name]Darren[/name], which is why I would personally pick a new first name, but if your set on it, just making the middle name feminine would help.
[name]Deryn[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Deryn[/name] [name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Deryn[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Deryn[/name] [name]Luna[/name]
[name]Deryn[/name] [name]Livia[/name]
[name]Deryn[/name] [name]Lina[/name]
[name]Deryn[/name] [name]Laura[/name]
[name]Deryn[/name] [name]Eliana[/name]
[name]Don[/name]'t like it at all. [name]Darren[/name] isn’t unisex. [name]Even[/name] with the y added. Plus, a unisex middle makes it confusing even if “[name]Deryn[/name]” was unisex. That name looks 100% boy to me. [name]Darren[/name] [name]Lee[/name] is a wonderful name for a little boy.
[name]EDIT[/name]: whoops I see [name]Daryn[/name] is an actual girls name. Tbh, it isn’t useable for a girl. Sorry!
I’m sorry but I don’t like this name :/. Feels very masculine to me
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Deryn[/name]! So nice to see someone else considering it. If I use [name]Deryn[/name], I plan to call her [name]Birdie[/name]/[name]Bird[/name].
Not a fan of [name]Lee[/name], it’s too plain for my taste. [name]Deryn[/name] is so unique and exotic while [name]Lee[/name] is ho-hum. Contrary to others’ suggestions you don’t necessarily need a “girly” mn
And to the other posters, [name]Deryn[/name] is not a boy’s name or unisex or made up- it is all girl and totally legit.
I thought it was a play on daringly…don’t like it, sorry
I think it is usable, but problematic. Not only is [name]Deryn[/name] really masculine sounding in [name]North[/name]-[name]America[/name] (I am assuming that is where you live) but it also looks like you were just trying to make [name]Darren[/name] more feminine by spelling it cre8tively. Also [name]Lee[/name] is unisex, and in my opinion leaning towards the masculine side of unisex. [name]Deryn[/name] [name]Lee[/name] together just sounds way too masculine. It also kinda of sounds like the adverb daringly. I would avoid using it because it probably isn’t worth the trouble. Which is unfortunate because I like it and the meaning. I also like the name [name]Darren[/name] too though.
[name]How[/name] about other names like [name]Seren[/name], [name]Merryn[/name], [name]Karen[/name], [name]Lark[/name], [name]Larkin[/name], [name]Raven[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Jay[/name] etc?
Sorry, but I do not like this name at all.
Not a fan. I like feminine names on girls. [name]How[/name] about [name]Dara[/name] [name]Lee[/name]?
I love [name]Deryn[/name], but I’m Welsh so I know it’s a girls name. I don’t think it sounds at all like [name]Darren[/name] if you pronounce it correctly (Deh-rin) It also reminds me of the author’s name [name]Harper[/name] [name]Lee[/name] who wrote To Kill a Mockingbird, and I think that’s quite sweet. If you like it, I say go for it!
I think the problem is that although [name]Deryn[/name] and [name]Darren[/name] are completely different names, they sound too much alike. I don’t think however, that you would get the same kind of negative reaction or feedback in the real world that you find on Nameberry. Boy names (or, it seems even the perception of boy names) on girls is a touchy subject here.
I don’t really have strong feelings one way or another about [name]Deryn[/name]. It’s just ok to me.
That said, if you go with [name]Deryn[/name], you might want to pair it with something a little more feminine than [name]Lee[/name] (or spell it [name]Leigh[/name])- ala [name]Daryl[/name] [name]Hannah[/name].
Like bethlow, I say [name]Deryn[/name] differently from [name]Darren[/name]. [name]Deryn[/name] to me is deh-ryn and [name]Darren[/name] is da (as in Dad)- ren. I think I might like it better with a different mn. [name]Deryn[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] or [name]Deryn[/name] [name]Elise[/name] (keeps the “lee” sound in there) is what came to mind.
I’m not a huge fan of the name, as it sounds far too close to [name]Darren[/name] and is not very aesthetically appealing to me. That being said, if you like it, use it. I would pair a more feminine middle name to avoid gender confusion. I would assume this child was a boy.
