What are your opinions of [name_u]Owen[/name_u]?
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] is okay. I feel like I’m meeting a lot of [name_m]Owens[/name_m] these days. I remember liking the name a bunch when I was really young but it seems too trendy now. It’s still a nice name, but right now I prefer [name_f]Olwen[/name_f] for a girl or [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. (I love the nn’s [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_u]Ottie[/name_u]!)
I forgot to mention I also have a bad association with this name, so that may be part of the reason it’s not my favorite, that and that it has no nicknames.
Well, I have an [name_u]Owen[/name_u] as you know, so obviously it’s special to me… though I admit it was very much a compromise name for us. I personally think it’s quite versatile… I’ve heard ppl describe it as having a rugged, outdoorsy feel…[name_m]Ive[/name_m] even heard cowboy/western on occasion…for me I very much associate it with its Celtic roots, and I think of it as strong but gentle, friendly and approachable. I used to think of it as slightly geek-chic, but that was before it became much more mainstream.
I will say I think it goes great with a lot of your names, especially [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m]…
I have an [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and I always get compliments on the name. It’s short sweet and easy enough to yell out at a sports game. Also old enough for him to grow into.
I love the name [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. It’s rugged, classic, simple And something he can grow into. Also eliminates the need for nicknames if you don’t like them.
I used to dislike [name_u]Owen[/name_u], but somehow I’ve grown to like it. It’s classic and simple, but not too popular.
It’s one of my favorite names!! I love it! It’s easy to say, the meaning is so cute and handsome for a little boy, and it can fit anyone. It’s a name I’d use in heartbeat regardless of popularity.
Thank you.
Bad associations have a way of putting a damper on a name. At first I did not want to use my son’s name, because of a bad association. I loved the name before the association. My husband felt I would love it again. I am glad that I went ahead anyway. And, yes, the bad association went a way before my son was even born.
I am not real concerned about nicknames. My son has never gone by a nickname. He has little pet names that his dad and I have called him off and on, and that have changed as he grew.
Thank you.
My thought was that it was versatile also. Funny, when I was a child/young adult I also felt the name was slightly geeky. I then met an [name_u]Owen[/name_u] (the only [name_u]Owen[/name_u] I have ever known) and he changed the feel of the name for me. Over time I learned more about the name and have loved it since.
Thank you.
Great to hear.
Thank you.
I like that [name_u]Owen[/name_u] feels right for a young one and also an adult.
Thank you.
I like that it feels comfortable. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I have only known one, it is a name that fits right in with so many other boy’s names out there.
Thank you.
My love for the name has definitely turned to adoration.
My brother’s name is [name_u]Owen[/name_u], I think it’s adorable! It’s one of those names you can’t go wrong with. [name_f]Precious[/name_f] on a little boy and strong on a man. I’m kind of bummed my mom used it or I would totally have a son named that down the road!
(Incidentally, I’ve only known a handful of [name_m]Owens[/name_m], but I do think it’s growing in popularity because he has a couple little friends named [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and the others were babies.)
I love [name_u]Owen[/name_u]! Like many Gaelic names, it has a sensitive, intelligent, gentle feel about it, but also strong and masculine (not quite rugged, but very outdoorsy! I think of a Scottish highlander, haha). The kind of guy who appreciates a wee bit of [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], physics, helping people, and playing soccer. A good, protective big brother, a respectful son and student, an easy friend. I like it a lot; I’d love to meet a little [name_u]Owen[/name_u] (I hear it’s growing rampant in popularity, but I’ve yet to meet one!), and I think it goes marvelously with your son’s name, [name_u]Jean[/name_u]!
Thank you.
Might have to name your son after your brother.
I’ve loved [name_u]Owen[/name_u] for 7 years. It doesn’t work in my language, so I can’t use it, but I still love it. It was one of the first boy names I ever loved. I love its versatility. It can be sweet and sensitive but also rugged and tough.
Thank you, [name_u]Ashley[/name_u].
I think so also.
Thank you.
That is too bad.
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] is one of those names I can see on so many different personality types.
