I seem to have a new favorite name [name]Beckham[/name]
Yesterday I met a mother and her 2 year old son [name]Beckham[/name] [name]Drew[/name]. I’ve got to say that he was adorable! His mom called him Becks for a nickname which I thought was cute.
I know that the association with the Beckhams is strong but in a way I don’t think that is so bad. After all there are worse things/people to be named after!
So I was just wondering what you guys honestly think of [name]Beckham[/name]?
I’m not a fan, sorry. The Beckhams have always seemed extremely overrated to me, and given the way girls fawn over [name]David[/name] [name]Beckham[/name], I really wouldn’t want to transfer those thoughts to my son, and I really wouldn’t want people to make those, “Oh, like after [name]David[/name] [name]Beckham[/name]?” comments. Although I wouldn’t want any of those Hollywood association questions, so maybe it’s just me. I vastly, completely prefer [name]Beckett[/name] or even [name]Becker[/name], though. Still yields the nn [name]Beck[/name]/Becks, ages better (imo), without the Hollywood associations.
I love the nn [name]Beck[/name], but I agree I would definitely use [name]Beckett[/name] instead. I love that name, and [name]Beckham[/name] just seems like too much.
I love it for either gender. I know of a woman who almost named her son [name]Beckham[/name]. I [name]LOVE[/name] Becks as NN. I have it on my list for a girl
I love it. It immediately made me think of the movie Bend it Like [name]Beckham[/name]. While some say it sounds “Hollywood”, to me it is a soccer reference, and sounds prep-school chic.
I adore the name and it’s a massive GP for me, I guess it does help that I’ve fancied [name]David[/name] [name]Beckham[/name] for I don’t know how long, and I love the whole [name]Beckham[/name] clan. However, the association is so strong and people will always assume you have named your child after [name]David[/name] [name]Beckham[/name] and not necessarily just love the name. In the UK people would find it hilarious if a child was named [name]Beckham[/name], and my family just wouldn’t allow me this one ha. My grandparents have a hard time understanding that I once loved the name [name]Ruby[/name] because it was an old lady’s name so I can’t imagine [name]Beckham[/name] going down to well!
Anyway, it would take someone very brave to use it - I’d be so impressed to meet a little [name]Beckham[/name]! I remember my combo was [name]Beckham[/name] [name]Reece[/name] [name]Aston[/name] a long, long time ago.
I just had to find out how many [name]Beckham[/name]'s have been born in the UK and I counted 50 little [name]Beckham[/name]'s born since 1996!
I think the name is charming, and I think you should go for it! [name]Just[/name] because some “royal” celebrity family has this as a last name doesn’t mean that your child’s name has anything to do with them. I really want to name my daughter [name]Adelle[/name] (spelt with two L’s). I enjoy listening to [name]Adele[/name]'s music, but I am not actually naming my daughter for her at all. [name]Beckham[/name] rocks; imo, go for it!!!
Not keen because it’s a surname, the [name]David[/name] [name]Beckham[/name] connection, and ‘ham’ is an unpleasant ending (esp. for a veggie!). But [name]Beckett[/name] is a whole load better, with literary associations that will age better, a more pleasant sound, and still gets you the nn you like. That’d be my choice - but maybe that’s cos I prefer books to football!
It sounds very stuck up and pretentious to me! I cannot help but make the [name]Beckham[/name] family association and I doubt you will find anyone who does not make the connection either. The others have given you some great alternatives to still get Becks.
