I have recently fallen in love with the name [name]Elsie[/name], but am not sure if it could stand alone as a first name. I haven’t found any names so far that I love that I could use [name]Elsie[/name] as a nickname for, but I am open to suggestions.
Other girl names that I love are [name]Clara[/name], [name]Miriam[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], and [name]Juliette[/name]. Which of these are your favorites, and does [name]Elsie[/name] work well with any of these?
Also, please post some middle name suggestions and boy names that go with [name]Elsie[/name]. Girl middles that have family significance are [name]Marie[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Rose[/name], and [name]Josephine[/name]. Boys middles with significance are [name]Richard[/name] and [name]Everett[/name].
I am not expecting, just name planning.
Thanks for all the help! Can’t wait to see everyone’s replies!
My friends just had a little girl named [name]Elsie[/name], I think it’s a fabulous name From your list of middles I like [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] the best.
I don’t like [name]Elsie[/name] as a stand-alone name. I recently met a little baby [name]Elsie[/name] and had to stop myself from asking her parents what her name was short for. I think you should always have a formal name on a birth certificate, even if you call her [name]Elsie[/name] in everyday life. Options for first names…
[name]Elsie[/name] is adorable. But I am not a fan of nicknamish names as stand-alone names. [name]Elsie[/name] makes a darling nickname for [name]Elisabeth[/name] or [name]Eloisa[/name].
I really like [name]Elsie[/name] as a nn, but as a given name, not as much. Also, it might not age well. [name]Imagine[/name] a 50 yr old lawyer named [name]Elsie[/name]. Maybe you could do it as the middle with one for your middles as the first? [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name] would work well, and you could still call her [name]Elsie[/name]. Out of your other list I love [name]Clara[/name].
I’m due with a little girl in [name]October[/name] that my husband and I are naming [name]Ellsie[/name] [name]Joe[/name]. We’re also using the Scottish meanings for both names, [name]Ellsie[/name] meaning ‘[name]Noble[/name]’, and [name]Joe[/name] meaning ‘Sweetheart.’ I love [name]Ellsie[/name], and know I would be so angry with myself if I named her something else that I just settled for because it sounded nicknamey. Go with what you love.
My favorite full name for nickname [name]Elsie[/name] is [name]Elsa[/name]. I think it’s lovely and fits right in with your other favorites ([name]Clara[/name], [name]Juliette[/name], etc). [name]Elsa[/name] [name]Juliette[/name] is a pretty combo.
I love [name]Elsie[/name]! It used to be in my top 10 but I can’t get over how trendy el- names are these days. I think it works fine as a stand-alone, when I was posting about it as a nickname everyone told me just to use it as a stand-alone so I think you’ll get flack either way you go. If you’re going to use it as a nickname, my favorite full name is [name]Eloise[/name]. [name]Elsie[/name] goes great with all four of the names you listed and any of the family names would flow well as middles but no offense, they’re kind of boring. [name]Jane[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Marie[/name], etc are like the most filler middle names there are. Maybe [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Janette[/name] or [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Josefina[/name] or [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Marion[/name] or something?
I love [name]Elsie[/name]! It’s actually my current future daughter’s name (ie: the future daughter I want in 10 years time lol). My plan is to use it as a nickname for [name]Elizabeth[/name] (family name) but to only call her [name]Elsie[/name]. I do think it is probably a bit too cutsey for a Prime Minister [name]Elsie[/name] or [name]Judge[/name] [name]Elsie[/name] etc.
I hope it doesn’t become too popular!
Guess I’m the only one who really doesn’t like [name]Elsie[/name].
[name]Don[/name]'t like the sound combination and have a bad memory of someone I knew by that name.
Right up there with [name]Bertha[/name] in my estimation.
