What do you think of the name [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] for a girl?
We are considering it for a girls name because hubby loves it! It is not in my top 3, but with a more feminine middle name I think it’s kind of sweet We like [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I will warn you, -ayden names are the epitome of trendy right now. For that reason, I am not a fan of [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]. I much prefer [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] or [name_u]Haven[/name_u] as alternatives.
I like [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]. I think there is one [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] at the elementary school I work at—and its a big school—I do also love the pp suggestions of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and [name_u]Haven[/name_u]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] also very nice. But you want [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] and Id say it may be popular, doesnt seem to be to me yet—but not really THAT popular–and [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is adorable!
I prefer [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] on a girl. I agree that it should be paired with a more feminine middle name.
I strongly dislike [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] on a girl - I’ve only ever known boys with this name, and for me, it’s all boy. I feel the same about all -ayden names, [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_m]Cayden[/name_m]/[name_u]Kayden[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_u]Ayden[/name_u]/[name_u]Aiden[/name_u]/[name_m]Aedan[/name_m], etc are boys names for me, and they always will be.
I understand that and wouldn’t choose [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_m]Cayden[/name_m], etc but I personally feel [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] is different and was popular before the trend.
To me, [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] has always been a very feminine “boy” name that I would never actually use on a boy. I actually like it more on a girl, even more than [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a sweet name, and I think a girly middle would be a necessity.
In my state there were more girls born last year than boys with the name. It seems truly unisex. Maybe [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] Pantierre has helped it become unisex.
It’s really interesting to see different opinions on names through this site.
I agree with lawsonhaley, all -ayden names are boys names to me, and not very nice ones at that. I like [name_u]Haydn[/name_u] on a boy, with this spelling, like the composer, but on a girl… definitely not. There are much prettier H names out there.
I prefer [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] for a boy but find it very sweet on a girl. [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is beautiful, sweet, and very cute. I really like [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] also. I love the suggestion of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is beautiful.
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u] feels to me different from the other -[name_u]Ayden[/name_u] names. I’ve actually never even met ONE [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] in my town, even though I have met NUMEROUS Jaydens, Cadens, Aidens, and Braydens. I think [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] is beautiful for a girl, and it’s a great option for me because I can’t use the gorgeous [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] for certain reasons. Paired with a feminine middle, I think it’s adorable.
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u] blends in with ALL of the other -aden names. [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], Drayden, Grayden, [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_u]Kayden[/name_u], [name_u]Payden[/name_u], [name_m]Raiden[/name_m], [name_m]Zayden[/name_m]… the list goes on and on and on. This is what makes it the epitome of trendy and any and all -aden names fall into this trend, especially [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], and [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], which are the original four names.
I know that it’s used quite a bit on females but there’s nothing feminine about the name to me.
I just saw in your post that [name_m]Raiden[/name_m] is a boy name, per Nameberry. There is a girl Raidynn at my daughter’s preschool. [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] sounds beautiful compared to a girl named Raidynn!
I actually really like [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] for a boy, I also feel that it seems different from the other -ayden names like [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_m]Kaiden[/name_m] etc… it feels a lot more substantial to me. As I said I like it as a boy’s name, unisex things aren’t usually my thing, but I think [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] would work ok on a girl probably because it sounds kind of similar to [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] just with a spunkier edge.
The one issue I may have with it is that your daughter will probably come into contact with loads of Aidens, Jaydens etc… who will mainly be boys - this probably isn’t a huge problem but it may be something to consider.
It’s definitely an ‘[name_u]Ayden[/name_u]’ name now. It doesn’t matter that it’s an established name because it falls into the eye-rolling sea of [name_m]Zayden[/name_m], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_u]Kayden[/name_u], [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], and etc. I also see it as masculine regardless of how many girls have it.
For every female [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] born in 2012, there were 2.18 boys born with the name (nearly 69% of the babies born with the name were male).
