Opinions on Helena?

I love [name_f]Helena[/name_f]. She’s lush and feminine and romantic but not at all stuffy or prissy. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is always to A Midsummer [name_u]Night[/name_u]’s [name_u]Dream[/name_u] and I have only fond associations. I also think of Orphan [name_m]Black[/name_m] (I liked the character of [name_f]Helena[/name_f]) but I think that show is unlikely to be a strong reference in the coming years.

Formal, stilted, not much fun.

It could be pronounced either way!

How funny! That was actually the exact pronunciation I was going for, the middle syllable to be pronounced

Makes me happy to hear from someone who has actually used it on their daughter! [name_f]Helena[/name_f] as a middle is absolutely lovely, thank you for sharing, and I agree with your sentiment

Thanks for sharing! Unpopular opinions are insightful  I can definitely see your point of view on the name as well, but maybe that could be a kind of good quality too, for people to take [name_f]Helena[/name_f] seriously

I LOVE your description: lush, feminine, and romantic. That is exactly what I want in a name for a girl and what I see in [name_f]Helena[/name_f], just as you do! Being a Shakespearean name definitely makes it more significant. Thank you for sharing

I prefer it to [name_f]Helen[/name_f] as well! I actually don’t mind the multiple pronunciations, they all sound lovely imo (except for huh-LEE-nuh, this one doesn’t make much sense to me and I have never heard it this way in real life!) Thank you for sharing your thoughts
