What are your initial thoughts on the name [name_f]Helena[/name_f]? What type of person do you imagine with this name? Negative or positive, I’d love to hear it all!
I completely love this name, either as a standalone or with nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f]/Nellie. I always associate it with [name_f]Helen[/name_f] of [name_m]Troy[/name_m] so I think of it as an ancient, beautiful, powerful type of name. I also think it’s old enough that it’s fresh again, and a good alternative to [name_f]Helen[/name_f] (which, while I do quite like it, feels dated to me but not quite yet vintage enough for a comeback). When I have non-themed UCs that are just my overall favorites, [name_f]Helena[/name_f] often makes an appearance Plus, I’ve only ever met one [name_f]Helena[/name_f], a long time ago, so I think at least where I live it’s definitely recognizable but not overused! Best of all worlds imo.
I really love [name_f]Helena[/name_f]! it just has a very elegant, romantic feel to it
It’s beautiful. I love that it’s regal and feminine without being stuffed, and the soft nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f].
Helena is gorgeous. I love it said [name_f]El[/name_f]-ay-na as well as Hel-en-a. [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is a beautiful, intelligent, cultured name!
Thank you for sharing! I loved reading all that you said about the name
I like the name pronounced either way. Very underused but classic.
Helena is grand and elegant, strong and pretty
Helena is nice and underused. It has an understated air of elegance about it.
I really like [name_f]Helena[/name_f]! It’s regal, beautiful, and approachable. I like the name with any pronunciation.
Unpopular opinion, I dislike the name, it seems outdated to me and I can’t really picture a child or baby named [name_f]Helena[/name_f] without picturing a stern and stiff women
Helena is a very beautiful name! [name_f]My[/name_f] bf is named [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and she is a very outgoing, feisty lady! Also my young boss is called that as well and she is very sweet, so I have only positive associations with the name.
I love it! It’s my youngest’s middle name, pronounced the HEL-en-ah way (that’s the most common pronunciation here in [name_f]England[/name_f]).
I find it clean and tailored, but undeniably feminine, with a long and illustrious history and great nickname potential.
I think it’s a lovely and sophisticated name. I prefer it to [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. However, I do think the multiple pronunciations would be a bit annoying. I knew at [name_f]Helena[/name_f] at university and people would read her name as [name_f]Helen[/name_f]-uh, huh-LAY-nuh and even huh-LEE-nuh.
Good twist on [name_f]Helena[/name_f]! Reminds me of my mom, she is [name_f]Yelena[/name_f] [name_u]Strong[/name_u], classy but not too common. Nickname possibilities:
Hellie
[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
etc.
Somewhat biased as [name_f]Helen[/name_f] was my beloved Grandmas name but I absolutely love [name_f]Helena[/name_f]!
I knew a little girl named [name_f]Helena[/name_f] swoon
Her brother was [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and they were both so cute and so sweet!
Gorgeous! Slightly dated just how like it! I love all the different pronunciations, though my favorite is probably Hel-LEN-uh, which I don’t think is very popular. (I might have actually made it up).
This might sound silly, but I don’t know how [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is pronounced, I’ve never heard it said before. [name_f]Helen[/name_f]-uh? Huh-[name_u]Lane[/name_u]-uh?
I love it! [name_f]My[/name_f] default pronunciation is huh-LAYN-uh.
