Trying to find some girl names my husband likes, I threw out [name]Hestia[/name] today. To my surprise, he actually liked it. Now I am trying to decide if I like it or not! What are your thoughts on [name]Hestia[/name]?
I kind of like it. I think…? I’ll have to think about it. It’s quite strange, isn’t it? Doesn’t really sound like anything else…
It’s very similar to [name]Hester[/name], but it’s not terrible. I’m a bit unsure too… It could be very cute.
It’s a mythological name…[name]Hestia[/name] was the goddess of the hearth, one of [name]Zeus[/name]'s sisters. [name]Just[/name] looked it up on the beyond the top 1000 SSA list and it doesn’t make an appearance, which surprised me. It is unusual but not unknown so I figured it might be languishing somewhere in the 4000s.
For that matter, I just checked and [name]Hester[/name] doesn’t appear on the list either, which surprised me even more.
I think [name]Hestia[/name] is quite pretty in its own unique way. She was the virgin goddess of the hearth, home and chastity. I think it could be quite cute but also sound old fashioned without actually being (due to it’s closeness to [name]Hester[/name]). [name]Hessie[/name], [name]Tia[/name], [name]Hettie[/name], Sia and etc could be good nicknames
In Australia it is a brand of bras, so to my ears it sounds odd, but if I didn’t have that reference I would like it.
[name]Hestia[/name], breastia. Best left-ia to hist’ry-ia.
I like it, it is pretty and unusual. But then [name]Hestia[/name] is one of my favourite olympian goddess.
Not a name I would use. I like [name]Esther[/name], or [name]Esta[/name], which is the closet sounding name I can think of.
My husband and myself could agree when I was pregnant. The 2 names we compromised on I could love, alba and [name]Zara[/name]. When our sunshine was born [name]Ayla[/name] popped into my head, it had not been on either of our lists, (my tastes being the floral names like clover, [name]Tansy[/name], poesy, elodie. Hubby’s running mainstream [name]Chloe[/name], [name]Mia[/name], [name]Zara[/name]. Now we have [name]Ayla[/name] [name]Alba[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] and the name is definatly her. So what my babbling story is maybe the right name will just come to u both. All the best
