Opinions on Hugh

What do you berries think of [name_m]Hugh[/name_m]? I can’t tell if it’s cute and vintage or an old man name.

I lowkey love [name_m]Hugh[/name_m]! I was watching a show that had a [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] “[name_m]Hughie[/name_m]” on it, and it really grew on me!!

It’s all of the above which is why it’s good.

Handsome name! I don’t think of it as too much of an old man name.

I like it! I always think of [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] [name_u]Laurie[/name_u], which is not a bad thing at all.

If you’re worried about it sounding dated, [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] sounds a bit younger to me and is similar, but I think [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] is classy and usable.

I always have to compare [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] to [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], and I prefer [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], but bot are great

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I don’t like it, sorry. I find it dated and grandpa-ish.

I like it. To me it’s a stylish oldie same as [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] etc.

Hugh is great! It’s a timeless traditional name to me, not vintage per se because it’s never been hugely in or out of style (here in the UK at least).

I do personally prefer [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] because I love O endings, but [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is definitely feeling trendier right now. [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] is a quiet, solid classic.

Hugh has a kind of cool, gentlemanly feel to it

Hugh is the name of a good looking, intelligent, funny man!

All I can think of is in Knives Out when one character mishears [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] as “you”. That’s probably just me though! I prefer [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], but [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] is fine as well.

I can’t say I’m a fan of [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] but I adore [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. It seems so much more refined and cool to me than [name_m]Hugh[/name_m]. I think the lack of any hard sounds/consonants is what bothers me…

Cute, vintage + an old man name!

It’s on our list, its a big family name on my husband’s side. It’s just a little clunky with our one syllable last name, and thats my only hesitation.

Was it “the boys?” :joy:
