Opinions on Kyrie

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
What do you think of [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u]? I know about the religious meaning but I don’t consider that a bad thing. I first came across this name ages ago when reading a short story about a girl called [name_f]Exie[/name_f] who’s sister was [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u]. Here: What do you think of my writing? - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers

I really like [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u] and I think it makes a nice change to names like [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaylie[/name_f] ect.
What do you think?
Thanks,
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] xx

Pronounced kih-ree-ay, as in the Latin pronunciation? I quite like that. Pronounced [name_m]Ky[/name_m]-ree (rhyming with [name_f]Kylie[/name_f]) I am not a fan of.

Are you pronouncing it like [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u] Eleison? I like the Catholic connection to it, but I would think that people would automatically assume you are Catholic or at least religious if you use the name. As a name, I think it’s very cute (maybe too cute) and definitely usable, but I would definitely pair it with a more mature middle name.

Back in church (as a kid) we used to sing this song [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u] and Christe Eleison and I actually loved the name [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u].
We pronounced it Kee-ree-ay… but our priest was Irish (not living in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] though).

My 14 year old self would have used the name so why not… It’s spunky and cute, not too common but known.

Our priest is Cuban, and he always pronounces it (keer-ay). But yes, it’s a pretty name, if somewhat cutesy for me. Much better than [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], [name_f]Kaylie[/name_f] and the like : )

I love it. I know someone who spells it [name_f]Kyria[/name_f]’. She’s great, and makes me love the name even more.
