My husband & I had our minds made up on the name [name]Lacey[/name] from pregnancy no. 1. Pregnancy no.3 we actually have a girl on the way, & now he has gone off it, wondering if it’s too trashy American. Does anyone know if that’s the kind of connotation it has, or do you like it?
I think its adorable. I’ve never personally met a [name]Lacey[/name], let alone a trashy [name]Lacey[/name].
I know several [name]Lacey[/name]'s, all around age 30. They are all respectable women, but I do still get the “trashy American” vibe your husband is concerned about. I also feel that the name is a bit dated. However I don’t see it as unusable if you really love it.
As an American, it’s got that '70s-'80s low-rent sound to me. Not quite to [name]Candy[/name] levels, but getting there.
In my brain [name]Lacey[/name] feels like it would fit with the group: [name]Lauren[/name], [name]Leslie[/name], [name]Lindsey[/name], & [name]Lacey[/name]… & I expect them to all be contestants on the [name]Bachelor[/name]. It also fits with 90’s cowgirl names: [name]Sierra[/name], [name]Casey[/name], [name]Cheyenne[/name], [name]Dakota[/name], [name]Delaney[/name], & [name]Lacey[/name]. If you look at the graf on the [name]Lacey[/name] page it shows that [name]Lacey[/name] has been falling in popularity since it’s heyday in the 80’s and 90’s, meaning there are a lot of young American women in their 20’s and 30’s rocking that moniker. Alternative spellings are really popular with this name, too. The nameberry page warns that [name]Laci[/name], [name]Lacy[/name], [name]Lacie[/name], and [name]Lacey[/name] are all spellings on the Social Security Top 1000. I would classify this name as past it’s prime but still usable if your heart is set.
I think its pretty!
I love it but I get what he’s saying
The-acey names aren’t very dignified sounding to me. But to me, [name]Lacey[/name] is the best among them.
Maybe [name]Lacey[/name] could be a smush nickname for something like [name]Lorraine[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] or [name]Elena[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] or anything that brings the La +C or [name]Si[/name] sounds together
I think it’s sweet, and one of the most perfect word names for a little girl. I agree that it is a bit dated, but that’s what I love about it. [name]Even[/name] if [name]Lacy[/name]'s in the '80s carried that trashy vibe (I personally don’t think they did), I don’t think the name would carry the same image today. I think [name]Lacey[/name] would be fresh and slightly unexpected in a generation of little Madisons, Madelines, and now the returning vintage names.
I love it but I get what he’s saying

I am not sure what you mean by “trashy American name”. I am Canadian and think [name]Lacey[/name] is lovely! We have had in on our list for years. Probably won’t use it because there are other names that we love more though. There was a character named [name]Lacey[/name] on Corner Gas (A Canadian TV show) and she was a really likeable. It never got as popular as [name]Tracy[/name] or [name]Stacey[/name], so I don’t find it as dated. I think it is a sweet name that is feminine and not unlike other popular names.
Sorry, bit I really dislike [name]Lacey[/name]. It is very ‘white trash’ sounding to me for some reason.
It’s not my style. It’s probably the best out of [name]Tracy[/name]/[name]Stacy[/name]/[name]Casey[/name] etc…but it doesn’t overly classy to me. shrugs shoulders
I like [name]Lacey[/name]! I’ve often deterred because of it’s [name]Lace[/name] connection, and lace being so reminiscent of lingerie.
It’s really pretty though, and I do like it. I say go for it! It’s far from trashy imo.
I think it is very dated. To me, it is a fluff name. I get the trashy vibe he is talking about.
I really like the name [name]Lacey[/name]. If it fit better with our last name, we would have highly considered it for this pregnancy. I have never known [name]Lacey[/name] to be an overly popular name, so I’m not sure where the trashy connatation would come from. Growing up, I had a friend named [name]Lacie[/name], nickname [name]Lace[/name], and I always really liked her name. (Plus, I feel that individual people set the standard for how their name is perceived- in most situations.)
I really like [name]Lacey[/name]/[name]Lacy[/name]. While I can understand where he gets the “trashy American name” vibe from, to me, [name]Lacy[/name]/[name]Lacey[/name] is sweet, innocent, a bit of a southern belle. I would love to meet a [name]Lacey[/name]. Then again, I read a book with a [name]Lacey[/name] as the main character years ago, and it’s still one of my favorite books, so I have a real soft spot for it, myself.
Agree COMPLETELY. [name]Lacey[/name], [name]Brandy[/name], [name]Candy[/name], [name]Misty[/name], [name]Crystal[/name] and all their sisters-- it was that generation’s cutesy names, i.e. [name]Brylee[/name], an they are distinctly downmarket. I mean, you’re naming your child a girly adjective with no substance or meaning-- albeit one with a pretty sound.
The Laceys I’ve met don’t exactly run bordellos or blow their welfare checks down at the dog track, but they aren’t aspirational figures either.
