Opinions On Names Some Hippy/Boheminan Names Please

I would like some opinions on some bohemian/hippie names for our little girl due in [name]December[/name]. Some have middle names with them, some don’t. We also like surnames and unisex names as long as they are unusual. I would love some suggestions to add to the growing list as well. Thanks!!

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] (We are huge Beatles Fans!)
[name]Sydney[/name] [name]Moon[/name]
[name]Lola[/name] [name]Luna[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name] [name]Star[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Star[/name]
[name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Astrid[/name]
Solaine
[name]Bayou[/name]
[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Anabelle[/name]
[name]Amity[/name]
[name]Arbor[/name]
[name]Laiken[/name]
Sarin
[name]Brighton[/name]
[name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Lyric[/name]
[name]Ainslie[/name] ([name]Ainsley[/name])

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] puts a lot of pressure on the boyfriend
[name]Sydney[/name] [name]Moon[/name] Like it
[name]Lola[/name] [name]Luna[/name] sounds like a palm reader
[name]Delilah[/name] [name]Star[/name] sounds like a stripper
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Star[/name] sounds like a stripper together, but [name]Stella[/name] is a cool name
[name]Maisie[/name] ditzy
[name]Astrid[/name] [name]WILL[/name] be called ass-turd, as unfortunate as that is
Solaine love it.
[name]Bayou[/name] hick
[name]Mirabelle[/name] like
[name]Anabelle[/name] like
[name]Amity[/name] amityville horror
[name]Arbor[/name] very male
[name]Laiken[/name] very male
Sarin thought about this one myself
[name]Brighton[/name] more of a middle name I think
[name]Hadley[/name] sounds male
[name]Lyric[/name] [name]Lyra[/name]/Lyrah is more feminine
[name]Ainslie[/name] ([name]Ainsley[/name]) I like the ‘y’ spelling better

My favorite is [name]Mirabelle[/name] and I love [name]Mira[/name] for short. What about…

[name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Winter[/name] [name]Moon[/name]
[name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Winter[/name] [name]Star[/name]

[name]Winter[/name] being that she will be born in december.

I too am a fan of hippie / bohemian names. I think you have a great start but could probably switch around some of your choices to create a more unique pair. Here are my thoughts.

  • [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] (We are huge Beatles Fans!). This seems a bit too dead on. I love [name]Lucy[/name] but think you could pick another d name for a middle name ([name]Dove[/name], [name]Delphine[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Delilah[/name], etc.) or use a name that means bright or clear ([name]Clara[/name], [name]Alva[/name], [name]Nova[/name], etc.) That way it doesn’t feel so forced or copied. Perhaps you could also use a derivative of [name]Lucy[/name] - [name]Luciana[/name] or [name]Lucienne[/name].

[name]Lucienne[/name] [name]Clara[/name]
[name]Lucienne[/name] [name]Alva[/name]
[name]Lucienne[/name] [name]Dove[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Delphine[/name]

I also really love these Beatles inspired names: [name]Prudence[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Penny[/name], [name]Rita[/name], etc.

  • [name]Sydney[/name] [name]Moon[/name] (I think that this is a nice name)

  • [name]Lola[/name] [name]Luna[/name] (too l heavey).

  • [name]Delilah[/name] [name]Star[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] [name]Star[/name] (I like both [name]Delilah[/name] and [name]Stella[/name]) I think the star give it the stripper quality. Perhaps you can use one of the names for bright above or another name for star. I know Safra means morning star in hebrew. There is also [name]Danica[/name], [name]Estelle[/name], [name]Mariel[/name], [name]Vespera[/name] (evening [name]Star[/name]), [name]Lyra[/name] that all have [name]Star[/name] qualities.

[name]Delilah[/name] [name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name] [name]Mariel[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Vespera[/name]

[name]Maisie[/name] - cute

[name]Astrid[/name] - Not a fan

Solaine - Pretty

[name]Bayou[/name] - Not a fan

[name]Mirabelle[/name] - [name]Love[/name]
[name]Anabelle[/name] - [name]Love[/name]

[name]Amity[/name] - Not a fan
[name]Arbor[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like unisex names much
[name]Laiken[/name] - Not a fan
Sarin - Pretty
[name]Brighton[/name] - Not a fan. I would use one of the bright names from above
[name]Hadley[/name] - not into unisex
[name]Lyric[/name] - what about [name]Lyra[/name]. Has the star quality you are looking to use
[name]Ainslie[/name] ([name]Ainsley[/name]) - Prefer [name]Ainsley[/name] spelling

Best of luck!

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] (We are huge Beatles Fans!)- I’m a huge Beatles fan too, I totally get it, but [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] is a tiny bit insane. I wouldn’t name a kid after a song that may or may not be about LSD. [name]Lucy[/name] is nice, though, and you still get the Beatles reference. But with [name]Diamond[/name] it’s kind of tacky. What about [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]? You get two song references in one.
[name]Sydney[/name] [name]Moon[/name]- [name]Sydney[/name] is really popular for girls, but I kind of prefer it for boys. It’s not terrible though. But moon kind of makes me think of the verb- like to moon someone.
[name]Lola[/name] [name]Luna[/name]- too many l’s.
[name]Delilah[/name] [name]Star[/name]- I think Diddy or somebody has a daughter named D’[name]Lila[/name] [name]Star[/name]. I’d reconsider the middle.
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Star[/name]- [name]Stella[/name]'s great, but [name]Stella[/name] [name]Star[/name]- [name]Star[/name] [name]Star[/name]? It’s kind of repetitive.
[name]Maisie[/name]- I love this as a nickname for a little kid, but I don’t like it at all for an adult. Would you consider [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Mairead[/name], [name]Margo[/name], or even [name]Esme[/name]?
[name]Astrid[/name]- The Office has eternally damned this name to Ass-turd-ness.
Solaine- I prefer [name]Solange[/name].
[name]Bayou[/name]- Down in the [name]Bayou[/name]. Like in [name]Louisiana[/name] looking for crawfish.
[name]Mirabelle[/name]- BEAUTIFUL! I think it’s probably my favorite.
[name]Anabelle[/name]- I like [name]Anabella[/name] better, but it’s nice.
[name]Amity[/name]- I like it, but I want to add -ville horror to the end. What about [name]Verity[/name]?
[name]Arbor[/name]- to tree-ish for my taste.
[name]Laiken[/name]- sounds like an alien to me.
Sarin- Is this a variant of [name]Seren[/name]? It doesn’t really do anything for me. No strong feelings either way.
[name]Brighton[/name]- very masculine and word-y to me.
[name]Hadley[/name]- yet another two-syllable, ends in -ley name for girls. Very boring.
[name]Lyric[/name]- Too literal for my taste.
[name]Ainslie[/name] ([name]Ainsley[/name])- see [name]Hadley[/name].

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] (We are huge Beatles Fans!)- I think [name]Lucy[/name] is simply darling! However i think [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] is a bit to strong. I really like the suggestion of [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name].

[name]Sydney[/name] [name]Moon[/name]- I have never really been a fan of [name]Sydney[/name], I am not sure why. And i dont much care for the flow of [name]Sydney[/name] [name]Moon[/name].

[name]Lola[/name] [name]Luna[/name]- I love both names, but i dont like this combo together. Very L heavy and sounds repetitive with the ‘a’ sounding ending in both [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Luna[/name]. And the names are very similar in appearance.

[name]Delilah[/name] [name]Star[/name]- I really like [name]Delilah[/name], its a beautiful name, with many cute nicknames, But i feel like [name]Star[/name] sort of ruins the combo.

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Star[/name]- I like [name]Stella[/name], but i have always thought it was a middle name, I think it is just to short for a first name.

[name]Maisie[/name]- I like [name]Maisie[/name], but i get a very nicknamey feel from it, which isnt my personal style, but it is a very cute name!

[name]Astrid[/name]- Oh [name]Astrid[/name]. I simply cannot get behind this name, at all, whatsoever. Children can be mean, and children find ways to tease other children through there names (I was called [name]Jessica[/name] Rhino, which didnt even make sense because i didnt and dont have a big nose but it was just similar enought o my last name >:( ). Also, when i asked my husband he said - a$$-turd.

Solaine- This has a very pretty sound to it

[name]Bayou[/name]- Maybe im pronouncing it wrong, but all i can think of New Orleans and those rice commericals that say ‘[name]Welcome[/name] to the [name]Bayou[/name]!’, Mayeb as a middle name?

[name]Mirabelle[/name]- I think this name is beautiful!

[name]Anabelle[/name]- I have never personally ben a fan of this name, i have always thought it was a cow (not fat- a literal dairy cow) name. I dotn really know why.

[name]Amity[/name]- I can totally see the appeal to this as a name, but i think alot of people may only here Amityville Horror.

[name]Arbor[/name]- I think this is pretty, but i think as a name, it sounds mor elike a boys name.

[name]Laiken[/name]- I dont much care for this one

Sarin- This sounds very pretty, i like!

[name]Brighton[/name]- I like this one as well.

[name]Hadley[/name]- I have a cousin names [name]Hadley[/name], i think its a very cute name, but it is tryndee. But the nickname Haddie is adorable!

[name]Lyric[/name]- I have a friend who just had a son names [name]Lyric[/name], so its all boy to me

[name]Ainslie[/name] ([name]Ainsley[/name])- Im not quite sure how i feel about this name, sort of indifferent i guess. I like the pronounciation, it sounds very pretty but the look of the name is…off?

Those are just all my opionons though! My favorites are probably [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Delilah[/name], Solaine, [name]Amity[/name], and [name]Hadley[/name].

One suggestion i have is [name]Soleil[/name] (so-[name]LAY[/name]) [name]Moon[/name]. [name]Soleil[/name] is french meaning sun. I think its a beautiful name

Good [name]Luck[/name]!

I commend you on your brave and unique approach to naming your baby! My fav’s and maybe a few suggestions would be:

I think [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Lennox[/name] is cute. Recently heard the name [name]Lennox[/name] for a girl, and love it. Also nn could be Lenni (tribute to [name]John[/name] [name]Lennon[/name]). It still says Beatles without being so literal.

[name]Star[/name]–too literal-- I prefer [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Estella[/name].
Sarin–Like this one. Classy and elegant, but different.
[name]Lyra[/name]–Pretty, [name]Lyric[/name] is getting very popular, and have heard it used for both genders. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Poet[/name]–not as common.
[name]Bayou[/name]–I’m going against the flow here, I like it! I’m from the midwest and you don’t get more hick than where I’m from. [name]True[/name] “hicks” name their children after Nascar drivers, or names like [name]Stetson[/name], [name]Dalton[/name], [name]Dakota[/name], [name]Dallas[/name], the list goes on. I can see if you live in the south, this could be an issue, but I think it’s pretty—maybe a middle name??
[name]Brighton[/name]–Sounds a little boyish as a first name, but paired with a girly first like [name]Stella[/name], [name]Delilah[/name], or [name]Mirabelle[/name] it could be more feminine.
[name]Arbor[/name]–too literal and tree-ish. [name]Laurel[/name] has the same nature feel, but more feminine.

You seem to be a fan of Alliteration( [name]Stella[/name] [name]Star[/name], [name]Lola[/name] [name]Luna[/name])–so my fav would be [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Lennox[/name]!

I definitely think of [name]Luna[/name] as the quintessential hippie name of the moment. If you wanted to be really nature-oriented, you could name her [name]Luna[/name] [name]Soleil[/name].

I find that to be a little on the corny side, but the sound combination is actually really pretty.

These are my faves from your list!

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] - [name]Just[/name] adorable!
[name]Maisie[/name] - My boyfriend has a older cousin names this, and ive always thought it was very pretty!
[name]Anabelle[/name] - My favorite name as a teenager…hehe
[name]Hadley[/name] - Reminds me of [name]True[/name] Blood’s [name]Hadley[/name]…but nice just the same.
[name]Ainslie[/name] ([name]Ainsley[/name]) - I really prefer this spelling!

Good luck!

I really like your naming style. [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Diamond[/name] is charming but I heard it used in a [name]Sean[/name] [name]Penn[/name] film a couple of years ago…can’t remember what it was called, but the main character was a huge beatles fan and he named his baby daughter this. That’s not necessarily a problem, but if you’re going for a unique name, you may as well be truely unique. [name]How[/name] about [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Lennon[/name]? Other Beatles inspired names might be:
[name]Maggie[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Martha[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Honey[/name]
If you like the name [name]Star[/name], then [name]Starr[/name] (double r) would have the Beatles connection- I like [name]Delilah[/name] [name]Starr[/name].

From your list I also really like:
[name]Anabelle[/name]
[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
[name]Astrid[/name]

[name]Sadie[/name] or [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Lane[/name]? ([name]Penny[/name] [name]Lane[/name]) Good luck!

[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Lane[/name]! I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] this suggestion from the pp. Yep, my vote is for [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Lane[/name].
