Opinions on our short list for baby girl :-)

We like older, classic but not extremely common names. I’m also liking “hippy style” names with nice meanings. our short list for this baby girl so far are:

  1. [name_f]Asta[/name_f] - Greek meaning star like love
  2. [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] - Scandinavian. Meaning “sun gift” - Irish [name_m]Saint[/name_m].
  3. [name_f]Faye[/name_f] - [name_m]French[/name_m] baby name. meaning [name_f]Fairy[/name_f]. Confidence; trust; belief.
  4. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] - As a female name, [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is a diminutive form of [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] which means sorrow.
  • As a Sanskrit male name, [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [lo-luh] means “moving to and fro”
  • [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is also the Pilipino word for grandma.
  1. [name_f]May[/name_f] - English origin, and the meaning of [name_f]May[/name_f] is “the fifth month”. The month of [name_f]May[/name_f] was named for [name_f]Maia[/name_f], the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] earth goddess. Also a short form of the names [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. Also a Sanskrit word meaning “illusion”.

[name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are family names that were used in the early 1900’s.

Possible Combinations at the moment are:

  • I like [name_f]Asta[/name_f] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] Vliet.
  • [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] Vliet.
  • DH likes [name_f]Asta[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] Vliet.
    We both agree on:
  • [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] Vliet.

Her sisters name is [name_u]Penny[/name_u]-[name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_u]Van[/name_u] Vliet.

What do you think ? Any suggestions of other names we may like?

[name_f]Asta[/name_f], [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f], and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] are my favourites from the list. You might also consider [name_f]Freya[/name_f], Norse goddess of love; [name_f]Serena[/name_f]; [name_f]Noemie[/name_f]; Ai (pronounced like “eye”, Japanese for both love and indigo)

I absolutely love [name_f]Faye[/name_f] (it’s on my own list). [name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] has a lovely sound. I also really like [name_f]Asta[/name_f], and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is the perfect balance of pretty and dramatic. Have you considered [name_f]Thea[/name_f] or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]?

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] is beautiful, but to be honest [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are the ones on your list that makes the most sense with [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. Maybe [name_f]Asta[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f].

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], and [name_u]Lou[/name_u] are some other names that go good with [name_u]Penny[/name_u].

I could go a little out there, and suggest these:

[name_u]Abbey[/name_u]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_u]Pepper[/name_u]
[name_u]Jojo[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]

If you might have guessed, they’re Beatles inspired. Which, The Beatles are classic but also hippie. ([name_f]Stella[/name_f] means star, [name_m]Ringo[/name_m] [name_f]Starr[/name_f]!)

I like [name_f]Asta[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f].
Good luck

I like [name_f]Lola[/name_f] the best though it is really popular.

But I would go with [name_f]Asta[/name_f] or [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] for first names as they are more distinctive.
I’d probably keep one if you were planning on having another child just incase.
[name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are nice short sweet middle names.

I agree that [name_f]Lola[/name_f] may, [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] or possibly [name_f]Asta[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] go better with [name_u]Penny[/name_u]-lee then the other names they just seem to be similar in style compeared to [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f].
I don’t mind [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and iv thought about [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] but DH said no to it along with [name_u]Abbie[/name_u]. I like [name_f]Thea[/name_f] but my close mate has a little boy called [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. And I can’t use [name_u]Jo[/name_u] (Aunty) or [name_f]Molly[/name_f] (cousin) I’m just not sure about the others, but I do appreciate the suggestions
I had [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] on my list but they are names that DH didn’t want.
I think it’s going to be between [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Asta[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Asta[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]. We probably won’t decide until we see our little princess for the first time

Giinkies we live in Australia, how would I find out how popular the name [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is here? I would prefer that she have a distinctive name and not be know as [name_f]Lola[/name_f].M Or [name_f]Lola[/name_f].F, I work in child care and haven’t worked with a [name_f]Lola[/name_f] or [name_f]Asta[/name_f] or [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] that’s part of the reason they are on our list… Decisions decisions

I think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] may is perfect
