Opinions on Ruth

[name]Hi[/name], I’m really starting to like [name]Ruth[/name], but I’m not sure if I would ever use it, maybe as a mn.
What do you think?
Thanks,
[name]Ellie[/name] xx

I really like the name [name]Ruth[/name].

I like [name]Ruth[/name] for a middle name. Not really big on it for a first though.

[name]Ruth[/name] is a beautiful name, classic, simple and stunning. My grandmother’s middle name is [name]Ruth[/name], so if I ever used it, I would use it in the middle name slot to honor her.

  1. I love the name [name]Ruth[/name]
  2. TWO wonderful nicknames - [name]Ruthie[/name], I mean how cute is that? and [name]Rudy[/name], from my Aunt “[name]Ruthie[/name]” whose name, when pronounced by my Grandmother sounded like [name]Rudy[/name] - so she was Aunt [name]Rudy[/name]. I was a teenager before I figured it out but would use it in a second.
  3. I love the name [name]Ruth[/name]

My grandma is [name]Violet[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name]). I love it!

I love [name]Ruth[/name]. It’s classic and simple, like [name]Jane[/name], but just a bit softer. It’s not overused. I’d use it in a heartbeat.

I love [name]Ruth[/name]. My hubby doesn’t and I really can’t see why.

My grandmother was [name]Marjorie[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] and my cousin is named [name]Ruth[/name] in honour of her. I love the meaning of [name]Ruth[/name], it’s a lovely, classic name. If I were to use it, I’d use the nn Roo.

I love the name [name]Ruth[/name], but I’m biased because it’s my cousin’s name. And she’s great

I love the name [name]Ruth[/name]. It could work for a middle or first name

[name]Love[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]! Timeless and classic. [name]Ruthie[/name] is an adorable nn.

I could see [name]Ruth[/name]. It’s got a vintage old lady quality to it. Be a lamb and go for it.

[name]Ruth[/name] is a family name for me too, and a great Biblical character who gives a lovely meaning to the name. That said I’m not totally charmed by the sound. Roo is cute, but maybe it’s the rhyme with tooth, I just don’t love it. That said I’d strongly consider it in the middle spot for the reasons above, and I’d like to hear it used by someone else in the first name spot. I’ve known a [name]Ruthanne[/name] who liked her name, and a [name]Ruthie[/name] (her birth name, not [name]Ruth[/name] nn [name]Ruthie[/name]) who really didn’t like it. [name]Ruth[/name] seems like it will fit in more and more in some circles in coming years - [name]Agnes[/name] and [name]Edith[/name] and [name]Esther[/name] are getting dusted off, and I consider [name]Ruth[/name] in that family.

i adore ruth! especially ruthie, but one of my best friends in middle school was just ruth - we called her rufus, though, because she had a rather shaggy haircut…i digress. it’s sweet and gentle and kind, and i absolutely love it

I like [name]Ruth[/name] as a first name - as a middle it feels like “filler” ([name]Anne[/name], [name]Rose[/name]) - but as a first name, it is classic, simple and stunning

[name]Ruth[/name] is a lovely name

Honestly, I don’t like [name]Ruth[/name] at all. It conjures up images of a mousy old spinster and it just doesn’t sound pretty to me. However, I seem to be in the minority and you should use it if you love it!
